If you don't have an appointment and you don't get there early, you're gonna wait. This is just how any DMV works. So do yourself a favor and make an appointment or show up super early and get a good place in line. I stupidly waited too long to mail something and appointments were booked too far out that I had no choice but to take my chances as a walk in. This branch opens at 7am some days so I got there about 615am to wait. There were 3 people ahead of me and the nicest DMV guy was there early and helped us get started. Once they actually opened us early folks got seen right away. I was out before 730! Not bad for no appointment. -there is a bit of confusion about where to start and where to go and people (customers and staff) were kind of all over the place but once you got assigned a number, it was smooth sailing. read more

The employees always look stressed out and tired which tells me leadership needs to come up with a better system for them so they're not so stressed out all of the time. I went in the other day to update my DL and the women who helped me looked tired. Her face was flush and she ignored me the entire time except the one thing she said which was that I don't know about my own DL. I'm always very polite so I didn't understand the rudeness when I, a tax paying citizen came for help and customer service. I didn't come for judgment from a person who doesn't understand what's going on. The Merced dmv is even worse. Way better then it used to be which is scary to think of. i took my test here & passed first try ! i walked in and it was a very quick and easy process. the first guy i saw made a joke with me and made me feel comfortable and a lot less nervous. i took my behind the wheel test and came back before my actual appointment time. not gonna lie , the instructor made me super nervous & she was very quiet & straight to the point ( which is ideal test state , whether we want to admit it or not ). i only got marked for 'not scanning' which i personally felt like i did. make sure you know your stuff & exaggerate EVERYTHING ! days before taking my test i was freaking out because of the reviews , but chances are , you failed because you violated basic traffic laws. if you completed driving school & have hours of practice , you will be fine i promise ! good luck to everyone out there ! read more

So - I've tested twice at this DMV. Both times, I have failed for one or two errors that others would have made, but passed. My first time, I did not enter into the bike lane SOON enough to turn right for my examiner. She even told me that it was not soon enough for her - making an arbitrary call in what is a relative judgement in spacing. The second time, I did everything right but ran through a hidden stop sign. That's the ONLY reason I failed. I know the DMV manual states that we are responsible for knowing when the STOP sign is present even if it is hidden, but for a driving test, this seems like a setup. I know, because after I ran it & realized it, I looked quickly in my rearview mirror to see several other drivers (licensed), run that same stop sign. I mean no discrimination, but it seems the examiners are more partial to specific ethnic groups. Take your Driver's test at another DMV, this one is prejudicial, discriminatory & EXTREMELY UNFRIENDLY & DISCOURTEOUS. read more

The people working inside were friendly & helpful. The driving test evaluator was unfriendly & almost rude. My daughter drove over an hour with me as her passenger to take the test. She drove me around before the test & made no errors. The evaluator was dressed inappropriately, was unfriendly & failed her for something she did many times accurately. When we asked what she can work on for her retest she said "she knows" which she didn't really know & the notes on the test were vague for someone who does not work for DMV. I should've avoided this place when I saw the reviews on this shit. I've been trying to find a review about the overall driving test experience but since I can't find one I'll make one lmao. I don't know what it is about this place but it is a fucking nightmare. Before I even started my test, I saw at least five people crying after their test and I just sat there thinking like what the fuck did I get myself into. I took my required every two years vision driving test today in Turlock. I had a great experience with Michelle testing me. She was very professional and informative on what is expected during the test. She helped me feel more comfortable. I hope to get her again the next time I need to take my test. read more

Since I try to get everything done at AAA, I haven't had to use the DMV in quite some time. Today I had to go to DMV to renew my commercial license and get the REAL ID. Didn't make an appointment, but got there early. Things have changed for the better since my last visit. You still have to wait (the whole process took me about an hour), but it is a little more efficient now. An employee was going through the line asking what people were there for and was able to direct people to the correct location for their particular need (or tell them that they additional forms/paperwork). This alleviated the wait tremendously. Make sure you go online and get as much done there BEFORE you come to DMV. Lots of people had to use computers to fill out an online accounts (after waiting in line) when this could have been done at home. Others weren't able to get processed because they didn't have the needed documentation (again after waiting in line). READ YOUR PAPERWORK PEOPLE!! Don't get upset over your wait time because of your own stupidity! The lady who helped me process my renewal was AWESOME. It is amazing how nice people are when you are nice to them.....remember the "Golden Rule"! Much more efficient than a few years ago. read more

Came today to take my test for driving and with all due respect this place is the most awful service ever ,I genuinely wished it was a better experience for me ,I respect my elders but this LADY was just the worse the moment when we were done she just had a rudest response ever saying with an attitude "maybe if you practice more u can do a little better on ur driving " and slams the door as she leaves. read more

As I sit here, there are 14 stations for DMV employees to work in, BUT only 5 employees are working. At 9:30am I would think that nobody would be at lunch already. There are a few additional employees checking people in, but this could be done with a computer program or something similar. That would free up a few employees. The employees haven't been too friendly either. Why do we accept this in California??? When I lived in Washington State you could get you vehicle tags at a coffee shop. Plus, it was $44 to register your vehicle, not the $100 or more I pay here in CA. In some states you can register your car for life. Us CA voters should demand better service. Imagine DMV offices all over town. Imagine getting your vehicle tags and a latte in the same trip. Speak up CA! read more

Made an appointment on line July 4 got an appointment for the 7th at 11:40 . Went in to the first line the person had me fill out some paperwork. Took the eye test and a picture and my license was renewed. Renewed an expired off road Vehical with the same person. Walked out at 12:15. I think I got very good service after all I let the Vehical expire. read more

A place lost in time. I know that no one wants to go to the dmv. It generally stinks. Turlock is the worst dmv I have ever been to it is always extremely busy. Wall to wall people and the wait time is on average 1 to 2 hours longer than any of the surrounding DMV. I will drive to Merced next time. And with drive time traffic and stopping for gas I'll still be home 1 hour earlier than going to the turlock dmv which is only 5 min from my house. So if you enjoy long waits in a room with not enough chairs or ac then turlock dmv is the place for you read more

The lady that I took the driving test from was a total racist. She was Hispanic and I do not remember her name. While I was completing my drivers test I know I made a CONSTANT effort to look in the rear view and over my shoulder and in the mirror when changing lanes or turning left or right. At the end of the test she said I needed to look and scan my surroundings always when driving and that I was not looking around and behind me when changing lanes or turning, which was complete bull! There was an older lady who told my mother before I took my test that said, " That lady failed my grandson on his second try for turning from a bike lane and he did the VERY SAME thing during his first test ( with another instructor) and did NOT get called out on it!" I was not nervous during the test. I drive nearly everyday. I turned my head, checked my mirror AND my rear view mirrors. This lady told a complete falsehood when she told my Mom, When my. I'm told her that I always look and check my mirrors ''tis lady said, " well she didn't this time". This lady doesn't like " white folks". The older lady said that if she fails her grandsons this time, she will report her to her supervisor. Do NOT come to this place for your license if you are white because you will be failed whether you make a mistake or not. read more

So as many of you may know getting an appointment for behind the wheel test can be long and dreading. when I began my search for the nearest available appointment at at near by dmvs I came across some appointments that were up to three months away. Not wanting to wait that long I decided to make the hour drive to this dmv (HUGE MISTAKE) since it had sooner available appointments. When my test began I said hello to the lady instructor (dont know her name, since she never mentioned it) and got a smirk in return. I didn't let that bother me but as a first time driver you can't help but get more nervous. I proceeded to drive and did everything that was asked of me to do. When the 15 min test was over, I was confident I had passed or so I thought. The instructor was quiet and just wrote away on her clip board, when I asked if I passed she then said you can't have more then 15 errors... "look at your test and call the 1800 number to schedule an appointment!" Needless to say that was the RUDEST THING a dmv staff member has said to me! PLEASE PAY ATTENTION to the comments and don't go here if you want to pass!!!! read more

This DMV was absolutely terrible. Janice was extremely rude! Do not take your license test here, they will automatically fail you for anything! I didn't have any points marked off and then I got an automatic fail for something that should've just been minus points if anything. Also she made rude comments that were unnecessary and not something that you say to a nervous kid taking their drivers test. read more

I made an hour drive to take my behind the wheel driving test once I got there lady's were supper helpful but once I met the lady who graded me she was very rude I processed with my driving and thought I had done a good job I'm not from Turlock so I was not sure how the streets work once we got back to the DMV parking lot all I was told was you were going to slow you'll need to make an appointment and walked off that's very unprofessional and if you don't like your job why work in a place you don't like and take it out on the people? read more

Did go to Turlock DMV 3 times to change the title of vehicle from commercial to noncommercial. Every time I spent 3-4 hours staying in line. The job looks very simple, but the Manager and Technician there didn't do nothing to help me. They were rude and not polite. I did not get registered my car . The same day I did go to another DMV driving 100 miles and people there did the job for les than one hour and I have got my car registration. I like people from Turlock they are very nice, but not this at DMV. This DMV team is a big disappointment. read more

I do not recommend this location to take your driving test. At least one of the female instructors is very rude, makes you feel uncomfortable and stressed before you even start to drive. Not a great or safe environment for first time testers. She is unfriendly, unreasonable, and would fail you for anything. On any other circumstances I would not let a person like her in my car. read more

this is to rate more the person than the whole dmv. had an appointment last dec 4 for behind the wheel exam. my second actually because i failed the first one. anyway, i went straight to #14 and it's still the same lady named heather who assisted me. then she told me that she remembers me. then she checked me in for my exam. after the exam, (which i passed, thank you Lord) i went back to her counter and fall in line. when she saw me, she motioned a thumbs up and i did a thumbs up as well because i passed the driving test. but what i like about her is that she always has a ready smile. she is very personable. and looks like she enjoy what she's doing. so, thank you heather at #14 for making my dmv experience a pleasant one. :-) read more

Don't ever take your drive test here. The lady(with the really long black hair) giving me my test, failed me 2 minutes into my test. (Take into account that I was never a road hazard nor did I do anything wrong) She treated me very rudely. The whole time behind the wheel, she was not at all nice and very snippy. Not only was she rude but her horrible attitude/behavior gave me a full on panic attack while behind the wheel. She was also not clear with directions. I was caught in a rude back and forth on what she wanted me to do. I've been driving for a fair amount of time and everyone that has ever been in the car with me, has said I'm and great driver. But from the moment she stepped into my car, I knew she had no intention on passing me regardless of my driving skills. She had seemed like she hated her job and just being around other people in general. She creates a very hostile and high anxiety environment, which is the last thing you want when driving. I wish I would have set up a dash cam to share my horror of an experience. Not only was the experience horrible, but she had made me feel horrible afterwards, like I was the bad person. Safe to say, you can tell she is not fit for her job. I've never had such a bad experience driving. My whole day was ruined, however it was nice to know from further reviews that I was not the only one who seemed to have this problem. Also not to mention, they have the worse passing rate out of all the DMV's in the area; which should tell you something. I refuse to go back because I'm terrified of the chances of having her as my examiner yet again. Please save yourself the time and go somewhere else, even if it means going a little out of the way. Trust me it's worth it. I hope I can save someone from having the horrible unfair experience I had. read more

All DMVs are the same. If you do your homework before going in like looking at their website or calling them before you go in to see what is needed it would probably make your transition smoother. Plus making an appt ahead of time instead of waiting until the last minute, or letting your stuff just ride until it becomes a big problem and blaming it on them. They generally have a good staff there. You can print just about any form that you need off their website instead of going in and asking them for it to have it filled out before you go there. It's just a matter of doing your homework before going in. read more

Went today for a DL while some workers came off as rude and unfriendly the ones I experienced were nicer than most from other DMVs. I was in and out within and hour and a half. While the seating was sparse I was able to find a seat and wait no problems. read more

THIS PLACE SUCKS!!!!!! The reason why I came to this dmv is because I did not have to wait until December to get a behind the wheel test. I see why the there is faster appointments at this place. I had an appointment at 9:40 I saw a few people taking the test coming back early and I didn't understand why. One of the ladies told us that she will be back shortly they had me waiting in the car along with someone else behind me for 40 minutes! Finally after that wait it was time to take the test I was nervous but at the same time confident the first turn I took she took me straight back to the dmv saying I should have used the bike lane to turn right I watched many videos on YouTube and this is not a critical error this is a thing to work on that the Instructor should've went over at the end of the test instead of sending back to the DMV. This is the worst experience I've ever had. Examiner #22, I think her name is Maria, is very rude and should simply not be allowed to work with young people or people in general. She was rude to me from the moment she stepped into the car and failed me for a mistake I for 1. Know for a fact I did not make and for 2. Was so nitpicky and irrational even if I did make that mistake. They told me it was "my word against hers. And she's a trained professional" so I would just have to accept it. She blatantly lied about the events that happened on the road which should not be allowed. If you take your test here, videotape it so they can't lie or act like this with you. We already had to have all of the windows down and masks on, with her lack of people skills and obvious dislike of me and her job, she created a horrible and hostile environment. She should not be able to reflect her bad day onto people who have worked for this, waited for long amounts of time and cooperated with them. I also encountered many rude people inside of the DMV office. A man was being rude and not helpful at all to an elderly veteran and another lady was very short with my mom. These people should not be allowed to act like this with others. The reviews speak volumes, so many 1 star reviews and comments on the rudeness of employees and validity of the drivers tests administered here. read more

I made an appointment before hand and was in and out of there with in an hour. I moved back from Georgia and had to get a new drivers license which included taking a test. I dealt with 4 different people and not only were they nice but all but one were very friendly! Completely terrible and these stupid fucking bitches don't know what they're doing. We went into the DMV and asked if I could still take my test although the car I was using's tags were expired we showed the DMV proof that they were purchased. The people inside said it was completely okay and that I could still take the test. My mom asked if they could print out the tags for the test but they INSISTED that it wasn't necessary and that I was completely able to take the test. And then I waited in the car for fucking 30 minutes and the stupid bitch Michelle comes out and immediately tells me that I cannot take the test because my registration is expired. We then again showed her proof that our registration was intact not expired and that the people inside told me I was in the clear for my test. And then this dumb bitch gives me and my mom the nastiest look and interrupts us and says "Don't know what to tell you go home, you're not taking this test." and then mom asked for the reason why the people inside said it was okay but she's saying it was not and she looks at us, says goodbye SOOOOO RUDELY and fucking goes inside. This DMV fucking sucks I completely do not recommend it to anyone. Either this DMV needs to clean out their entire staff and hire people who actually want to work there, or they need to close down this location entirely. FUCK THE FUCKING TURLOCK DMV.
