    The DMV experience has always been described as one of those harrowing experiences with long wait…read moretimes, unfriendly staff, outdated everything, and just general negativity. Surprisingly, the experience here was pretty positive on a recent visit. I was helping my cousin get set up with his DL for the first time and the staff were friendly in helping get things set up for him and allowing me to help translate. The person helping us (I wish I got her name but she was really sweet and was learning basic Mandarin to help folks who come through) was able to get set up with the RealID in person, even though all of his documents have not physically arrived. There were some hiccups, as would be expected, but nothing that the staff weren't willing to be helpful and patient with us with. The facility itself is clean and seems well maintained. There was plenty of parking and it was easy to get in. I guess when I finally come back to socal permanently, I'll likely end up coming to get my license at this location!

His tone, attitude, and facial expressions were disrespectful and made me feel uncomfortable. When I mentioned filing a complaint, he sarcastically waved me over and told me to "go ahead and complain," which felt very inappropriate and unprofessional for a DMV employee. I understand DMV policies must be followed, but customers should still be treated with basic respect and professionalism.

I feel bad since I didn't get the Motor Vehicle Representative's name. But she was at Window 19, on May 14, 2026 at 10:50AM with ticket number F076. I thought I was at a high end boutique store about to spend thousands not a government office trying to renew my drivers license. Your representative was the most kind and caring human being. My dad's a senior and a little slower to hear and process things. She took her time to let my father adjust to all the data he was processing. She asked about my Oura Ring and we talked about pets specifically cats and how her 5 year old son wanted one. This interaction was totally not expected as she was to help process some paperwork. My dad went in with a little anxiety worried about the whole process of renewal and he left with a big confident smile on his face because he was cared for as a human being not just another number. Again I feel bad for not getting her name hopefully you can lookup and give credit to her as what a fantastic job she is doing for the community. She deserves a raise and a promotion. She should be a trainer to train all the new representative out of the gate. She knew how to turn a stressful anxious person into a calm, very relaxed renewal experience. If I can book her for future appointments I'd come back to her and recommend all my friends and family to request she take care of all of my DMV needs. Parking was also easy as well but even if it wasn't. Her customer service skills and fast processing speed is well worth to coke visit her again. She was friendly and caring. Hopefully this message reaches her manager and she receives the recognition and promotion she deserves. Again thanks for taking care of my dad today and thank you for serving the community with love and care!!

    First and foremost CA DMV is a joke. Because I had 1 accident that wasn't my fault and because I…read moreasked for a new Driver's license a couple years ago, I had to retake a driving test. 2nd. I understand why people get upset at DMV staff members. In this facility, I saw staff members who have worked here for yearssssss constantly impede on other staff members conversation while the 1st worker has a client in front of them. Slowing the process. I staff member which I seen working there for 15 + years is notorious for the above. I had him and he told me to hold on while he impeded in a conversation. I told him "I'm not trying to be rude brother but its a simple question she can answer. I don't want to stay here lo ger than I should." He understood and got me put of there. Overal, I was there for 2.5 hours.

I had one renewal that was lost in the mail, and the wait times for the phone lines are horrendous. I wasn't eligible for online registration because I was too far overdue--they sent a notice to an old address that was updated for my license, but not my mailing address . Rose City got me a same day appointment on no advance notice, processed my renewal and handed me my new tags and registration on the spot. In quarantine we have had to Learn how to get things done without access to the normal resources, and normally that means not getting things done in person. This is one solution that's may seem contrary because you're walking into a building instead of doing it through the mail or phone, but everything gets done immediately. And with the way many government services are backlogged or overwhelmed, this is one instance where paying a little bit more to contract the services from a local business is worth the cost.

    When I realized I had to visit the DMV, I KNEW I was in for a wait…read more First and foremost, if you can complete as much as possible on the DMV website beforehand, I HIGHLY recommend you do so. There are several items, such as mine, that will require you to complete an online application and visit a DMV office in person. I completed the online application for a Real ID card and arrived at this DMV branch with no appointment (mistake!). The first thing you MUST do is scan the QR code posted on signs outside of the building. When you have completed this step, you will receive a number on your phone. This is the priority number you will hear announced over the PA system when it is your turn to approach a specific window to handle your issue. Though it was crowded inside, there was no line outside, as I have witnessed numerous times while driving by the area. Upon completing the above-cited steps, I took a seat and waited for my turn. I waited 1.5 hours before my number was called. Once called, I approached the window as directed and spoke with the DMV representative. This same employee advised me that I had not completed an online application for a Real ID card, which I had done only hours prior, but for some reason, it was not showing up on the employee's computer. As a result, I was forced to take a seat adjacent to the counter and start the process over again on a mounted iPad, UUGH! As the DMV representative handled other customers' issues, I sat at a small table next to each customer and could hear their entire conversation. It took me 10 minutes to complete my application, and when I was finished, the DMV representative assisted me with my issue. After this step was completed, I had to wait in a separate line to take a new photo for my Real ID card. This line was long (15+ people) as only one of two cameras was working and available. This process took 29 minutes. Employees were helpful and professional. They appeared to be working as efficiently as possible, so they all received an A in my book. The exterior and interior of the building were clean and well-organized, and parking was readily available in their large parking lot. As long as you enter this building knowing you ARE going to have to wait for at least 1 hour, you WILL survive, and life will go on.

"Hurry up and wait" isn't a saying here -- it's a lifestyle. Long wait times don't even begin to cover it. You sit. You wait. You watch the board. Nothing changes. You start questioning what year it is. At some point you're pretty sure the people ahead of you have aged several decades. The employees look just as thrilled to be here as you are, which is to say: not at all. The energy is pure misery. Everyone looks annoyed, inconvenienced, and personally offended that you dared to need a government service. Any question you ask feels like you're interrupting a hostage situation. And let's talk about the smell. A unique blend of old paper, frustration, recycled air, and despair. It's the kind of place where even the walls seem tired. No amount of air circulation can save this environment. The process is confusing, slow, and somehow designed to waste as much time as humanly possible. You'll fill out forms. Then you'll be told you filled out the wrong forms. Then you'll wait again. Then maybe -- just maybe -- you'll be helped. Or not. Everything you expect a DMV to be? It's all here. But somehow worse. Slower. More depressing. More soul-crushing. If purgatory has a waiting room, this is it. Bring snacks. Bring patience. Bring a will to survive. Because once you walk in, you're not leaving anytime soon. One star
