Visited August 7th..see receipt. I went in early to help my disabled friend get his real ID. They require your birth certificate and current drivers license and 2 forms of proof of residence ( pg and e and vehicle registration was acceptable). It was a great experience! MEGAN waited on us and she was patient and helpful! How refreshing! We were in and out within 10 minutes! When you take your photo it really don't not capture your top...just your face! I waited all afternoon, from before 1pm until 3:20pm for a return call from DMV, the call came in at that time and I was told an agent would be with me monentarily....within 45 seconds, I was cut off with a very fast busy signal and then the dial tone! I am 82 and only needed a question answered...what kind of crap is this that the state can pull on us, but we better never pull crap on them??? Ridiculous gaslighting goes on here. Every person there gives you a different answer to the same question. Literally within 5 min of each other. I have been here several times dealing with the estate for my father including 2 vehicles. Both were up to date on registration except one that was due this year. My dad couldn't walk so he made sure reg was paid but the smog couldn't be done until I got here so I paid over 600.00 for it to be brought current a month ago and then they told me it would be about 150 for the new reg today and sent me to another window where that person told me it would be over 400.00. Seriously? The vehicle was paid off in 2003! It's only valued at 3k (maybe). Add to it, the lazy and rude person with gang tattoos at... absolutely outrageous! DMV YOU NEED TO DO BETTER. Was told I needed a smog to change my siblings car to my name. Drove 25 min and payed $50 for a smog just to come back and get told you don't need a smog if it's an exchange between family members. This place needs better staff. read more

This visit reminded me why i go to AAA for as much of my dmv needs as i can....the lady at window #5 (no name plates ) was rude... cut people off mid sentence and was terrible at explaining the new process for checking in.... When people seemed comfused by her explanation she became extremely irritated.... Just no fun ... Crystal at #4 window who actually processed my paperwork was kind and helpful.... Maybe they should switch places so your initial contact is more pleasant‍.... Anyways im not a complainer but sheesh i pay taxes for this? all around horrible experience: was told I could not get my class A w hazmat with a vision expedition despite showing them their own rules concerning this. After 3 hours they figured out how to read their own policies concerning the issue. After 7 weeks and not receiving my physical license I called and inquired about if it had been sent yet. After an hour on hold I was told they have no record of my license being issued or even passing the exam! I was told I had to return to DMV to show them my interm license. if they were to lose anything wish it would be their ridiculous registration fees! read more

First I want to give information, if you have the issue of getting a DUI then, please make sure that you get all your info because these people here at this dmv will not give you any info, ok so you have the option of having a 6 mo nth suspension of a drivers license or of having a 1 year restricted license, now if you have gotten done with your 3 month dui program you can get your license restricted for a year, if you choose that where you may only drive to and from work and to the dui class. Now if you do not want to have that restricted license please just sit back for 6 months with a suspended license then you can get your full drivers license back, pending you have gotten your school done. Make sure you talk to the MANDATORY ACTIONS UNIT in Sacramento because this is the people you need to talk to, push option 9 then option 1 thatll get you to the DUI center. Now the big guy at window 8 has a issue of telling you the things that you need to know to make this decision, this stuff shouldnt be a freaking secret, but yeah it is. he will tell you that you just simply have a restricted license without even telling you about the 6 month suspension option, charge you another for the restriction and charge you for a new drivers license making your fee there $101.00, i figured these people are getting some kind of spiff or something for the amount of money that they collect or something because what this man did was incredibly unacceptable! or you could meet up with the short chubby blond hair RUDE RUDE RUDE women that also sits at window 8 and she will tell you that the court puts restrictions on your drivers license ( i promise you this is 100% not true if this is your first DUI) and gets real loud on the phone when she fake makes a telephone call to the Mandatory Actions Unit, GIRL I SEE YOU AND YOU ARE A TERRIBLE HUMAN BEING!! if you hate your job that much to just try to shoe people out of your window then YOU NEED TO LOOK FOR OTHER EMPLOYMENT, my goodness what a terrible human she was! If we can give no-stars I would. Like everyone else is saying, rude employees, unprofessional, and overall horrible. I get it they're tired of all the rude people but still just because one person gave you a bad day doesn't mean it's okay for you to take it out on the rest of us. Seen this too many time there. The last time I was there they had some sort of computer problems and instead of letting the people in there know that they can't operate anymore they just let us stand there for half an hour before a lady went to ask the workers if they are still open. Because none of us even knew that the computers were down because none of the employees told us. Finally the "Manager" said we can either choose to leave or stay after an hour. And then the manager got into a quarrel with one of the customer over ticket numbers. It was chaos. If you have seen Disney's Zootopia movie, yeah it's the most accurate portrayal of this DMV's employee, they're all sloths. read more

I wish I could give California a negative rating, 1 seems to give the Department some merit. My last 6 simple transactions have required much time to get the issues resolved. These transactions have been uncomplicated: registering a travel trailer, renewing 2 vehicle registrations, and getting a real ID. These actions should get done without issue, but not. The DMV accidentally under-charged for our new 2018 pickup that we bought in Oct 2020 so we were able to talk down the sticker price and got several rebates from the dealership. The DMV takes the sticker price and not the nego. price but they sent the renewal for the lower price. The DMV never sent a letter about their mistake or contact us in any manner. 3 months later, we noticed that we never received the current sticker and I believed it was lost in the mail. The DMV told me they never sent it because we owed $200 dollars of which they never admitted their error. I told them that this was unethical and they could not charge me additional monies that they didn't notify me of in the first place and they basically told me to PROVE it, three months later. My last couple of transactions were just as problematic, the last two vehicle renewals have not been sent out. On our Subaru we didn't get the vehicle-renewal but then DMV sent a delinquent notice after it was past due. The DMV failed to send the renewal for our truck, we caught it in time, but then couldn't get the system to allow us to register said it was N/A? So I spent hours waiting to hear from the call center. Finally, a clerk said she'd send a link so I could pay it. The link did not work and didn't explain the problem. Called the next day, and this clerk was rude and condescending. He didn't like my references to the Department's ineptitude. I told him that I was entitled to my opinion but we could get to the solution. He continued to argue and I had more than enough frustration and I hung up on him. I called back and waited to get another clerk and was told DMV would call back at 12:30, they never called back. My husband and I kept trying to find out WHY we couldn't renew our registration. It seems that the DMV lists a regular PU truck as a commercial vehicle even though it is not. And you have to fill out a multi-page form (complex commercial) in order to register. It would have been nice for DMV to explain this technicality that was not spelled out. read more

Worse DMV ever. I started my registration for the car we got from my sister in law in Red Bluff. I paid all fees. All I needed was a signature from my sister in law. Got signature. Happened to be in Oroville stopped by DMV to get my tags and the man that was helping me tried to charge me 350 dollars. Was asking confusing questions. I showed him where I had already paid and what I paid was half of what he was trying to charge me. He said that what I paid wasn't for the registration. I left. Drove to Red Bluff where I turned in the paper and they handed me my tags. He tried to con me out of money. Such a bad person. Especially so close to Christmas read more

I came in on a Friday to get a dmv print out, they only have 2 employees here waiting on everyone. I was told an hour and a half which I'm still waiting and it's been over my said wait time. The employees are friendly but the supervisor of this dmv needs to step it up. WAY under staffed, especially on a Friday. It puts your employees and all customers in a terrible place. This is the worst shape I've ever seen a dmv in. Last time I went somewhere for a print out without an appointment it took 15 minutes. read more

First of all the lady behind the counter was extremely rude when I had an appointment talking to me like I was a kid. Second, I literally did everything right on my driving test and he still failed me. He put that I ran a stop sign (which I didn't). Also I seen a couple reviews that "weren't recommended" that said the guy fails people for no reason and gets off on it. I can too verify that. He also assumed my wife was my mother because of her age which I thought was very unprofessional. People like that heavy set guy with glasses shouldn't be working in that kind of environment. In my 50 plus years of dealing with DMV and waiting in the lines or making an appointment I have not seen other DMV's as disorganized as Oroville CA. Made me wait an hour and a half to tell me that they didn't receive the payment which I dropped off inside the building. 100% waste of my time now I have to find proof the check was cashed and come back to wait another hour or two just to get my damn registration. My registration currently expires in 8 days. I paid for it 11 weeks ago and have been fighting with the dmv to give me my damn registration sticker if I could put 0 stars I would. This is the process at the Oroville DMV. You get in line to get a number (why don't they just have a number pull box?). Once you wait in line for a number, you then wait for help. However, the line to get a number and the appointments line literally never ends because people consistently come into the DMV. Therefore, no one is actually helping the people who have a number. We were there for an hour before leaving because they had helped only three people who had obtained numbers. The rest of the time was spent "giving out numbers," which was more than just giving someone a number or helping people in the appointment line. By the way, just get in the appointment line. They don't even check to see if you have an appointment. read more

I made an appointment for 9:30. When I arrived I had to stand in there only line to get checked in which took over 1/2 hr. What a waste of my time. Why do I have to stand in line with everyone who didn't or won't make an appointment? Is it really that difficult to have a separate line for appointment only individuals? Apparently! Went back to oroville D.M.V was there at 7:30 am, was first in line , sat in a room full of sick coughing people for 3 1/2 hrs. before i was called (and i was the first in line) they, call all of the "appointments" before calling any walkins , had 4 people working the desks, and 1 "manager" walking around , watching the clock . They averaged about 30 min. per person. Laughing and joking amongst themselfs. Watched 1 hispanic lady retake the wriiten driving test 3 times. Finally was called at 11:30 was given a temp. registration, (never got plates), but they charged me 110.00 . So in total I have spent 5 1/2 hrs. at oroville D.M.V. (over the course of 2 days) will be going to Yuba city D.M.V to finish the registration process.......Take my advise do whatever u can on line, if u haft to go in person , spend the extra gas and time to drive to Yuba or Chico D.M.V. read more
