The Oroville Dam is a remarkable place to visit, especially when they release water. It's a stunning sight to see the powerful flow, making the experience truly memorable. Beautiful views and plenty of free parking.

Fantastic place to come for a long or a short hike. This damn is a engineering marvel, especially the rebuilt parts following the 2017 near disaster. There are plenty of public bathrooms around the park area. I recommend parking on the south side of the dam then doing the potters Point loop Trail.

The Lake Oroville Dam is an earthfill embankment dam located on the East side the Town of Oroville and on the West side of Lake Oroville. This is the tallest dam in California at approximately 780 feet in height. It supplies water for many of the farmers in the surrounding farms, sold to Southern California water authorities, and when the spill way isn't busted, it serves as a source of controlling floods and providing hydro electricity. It's a pretty cool site ti see.

Take your pups! Very nice walk along the dam and the whole area is beautiful. Lots of recreation areas. You can Walk or drive to the other side. Follow the green tour trail up to the dam and also into town. Definitely don't miss Feathers Rivers nice walk along trails. We didn't get to do a lot in town but will definitely be going back. Also they brag to have the very first orange tree in California. Didn't know that so many California counties contributed to the building! Beautiful views!

More like a giant levy rather than a dam. One side looks like it has a prairie on it. Then the other side looks like a normal dam. Like most dams in America you cant take your boat right up to it. Its blocked off by buoys. You can drive right across the top of the dam on a two lane road. The views are spectacular. You can literally see for miles. Its really easy to find and a nice day trip if your interested in the drive. We have family up here and we were a little early so we decided to take a cruise around the dam. Check it out sometime.

Was here on a tour and I was excited since I watched the Oroville Dam overspill a few years ago. They are currently undergoing construction on the Oroville Dam due to that spillage. When going into the center, you have the opportunity to watch a video of what happened to cause the Dam to overspill. It was very informational and exciting to see. Also, there are also cameras that give you live feed of the actual construction taking place.

The entire landmark and experience can be soaked in fairly quickly, less than 10 minutes. Plus it is not far from the Gold County Casino. This landmark is for the oldest living orange tree in California. Way back in 1856, someone thought to buy a 2-3 year old seeding off the streets of Sacramento via Mazatlan Mexico and lugged it to Oroville. The story goes that Judge Joseph Lewis planted it on Bidwell Bar (gold mining site) near the toll bridge in 1856. From there it flourished and many folks, including the local miners, enjoyed the oranges and took seeds away with them. So who knows how many other orange trees came to be from this one! Lots I reckon. The orange tree was moved in 1964 due to the Oroville dam construction. To this day it flourishes and bears oranges. How great is that?!? Take note the tree is fenced off and can be admired from a distance. There is an information board and a historical marker. Soak it in folks.

We went in March when the weather was unusually warm this year and the water was f l o w i n g. The majority of the hike is uncovered if you start after the morning hours. How amazingly gorgeous it is here!!! Full of sweet sweet serenity…read more.. For Easter, my daughter & I decided to go here for our hike!! First, the directions on Google maps suck. You need to keep going down the freeway passed Coal Canyon Road We parked in a large rocky parking lot. At this point, you need to use the bathrooms because there aren't any along your path or trail. I found it hard to stay hydrated because since there aren't bathrooms along the way. I didn't want to drink too much water in case it makes me have to go. We started our hike at 1:15pm. The first part of the hike is a very rocky dirt path. No shade. So wear your sun screen! It was beautiful along the way with beautiful green grass, gorgeous flowers. There were free range cows roaming around. This hike can be very challenging to someone who doesn't work out or get their heart rate up daily. There were a couple large Oaks trees offering us some shade just before you approach the quarry. It's a good resting point but we kept on. For this part, we were climbing down into a quarry, surrounded by trees and bushes, over the rocks, down the path, going back and forth... to come to the first waterfall. It was refreshing and rewarding! Being able to feel the water coming down over you after hiking down from the sun was exhilarating! Now, you have to climb your way up the other side. This is where a big challenge comes in. Up the other side, walking up a very vertical hill, over the rocks... really takes your breath away and makes your legs burn.. we loved every minute of it. When you get to the top, there are no trees up here, just more hills to walk up with rocks below your feet. So wear some good shoes! Getting to the top of that part was another waterfall. It was only visible from far away, but even more gorgeous! The sun was hitting it just right to make a rainbow in the mist. It took us 2 1/2-3 hours to get to that particular part of the hike (we spent quite a bit of time at the previous waterfall). At this point we decided to go back... but you need to go back the way you came. We were pretty out of shape for this hike but we love challenges. So up and back over the hills, back down the steep quarry full of trees, down the rocky path, back to the first waterfall (and we spent time down there again, lol) and then climbing out of that quarry, we decided to stop at those big oak trees to make a sandwich to share. After our long rest, getting some fuel in our bodies, and getting nice and hydrated, we started out way down the rocky path. Again, the rocky path made it very challenging. Our legs were really worked from all the climbing up the hills we did so we've smaller hill after that made us feel the burn! Oh... there nothing like the motivation of seeing that parking lot, lol. It was indeed time to get into the air conditioned car and into a comfy seat in the car. Oooh and finally!!! Bathrooms!!! Lol My daughter & I had a blast on our hike for Easter. There were so many families that day who had the same idea. The weather was perfectly sunny with a slight breeze. It was 6 p.m. by the time we sat in the car and turned on the air conditioning. Great timing since I didn't have to drive in the dark on our way home!

They have great matinee deals on Tuesdays (happens to be my day off each week) so I find myself here whenever I'm in town. The problems I have w the bigger cities movies, is that they're too big and crowded for me - and way too expensive. The prices here for the concession stand are very reasonable and the staff is so friendly! The bathrooms are really clean and have a lot of stalls, so unlike the big cities, I'm not ever waiting in a long line to use the restroom. The vibe is so relaxing, fun and comfortable. The last 10-15 years, whenever I go to the movies in the bigger cities, it kind of stresses me out lol -like, order tix online to be sure to get a seat or pick your seat online etc. I'm just over it and love how this reminds me of going to the movies when I was little in the early 80s. It's just a simple, well priced, good time. And even in the heat or cold, the parking is so close to the place that, unlike other places, I don't have to battle the elements and walk hella far fr the parking spot to the inside lobby. And inside is nice and small too- the big city theaters have become so huge it's so much walking and waiting in lines. Staff attitudes in the larger theaters are also not great, whereas, we've been coming here now for 5 years and are always met w the friendliest staff. I love this theater.

The audio has cut out now 3 times. It is a very popular movie playing so I would assume this just wouldn't happen. I also want to mention how incredibly expensive their snack bar is. A small popcorn is $7? This isn't an AMC or other big movie chain. It's Oroville, CA. Even their drink prices are on the higher end. It takes 2 minutes to google how much they charge and spoiler alert...it's 700% of what they buy their supplies for. Overall, not a great experience. I'd rather go to Chico's movie theater and enjoy no audio mess ups, comfier chairs, and an overall better experience. Also just want to mention that I know of at least 3 people who've had their cars broken into at this establishment. Absolutely insane.
