    As a longtime Norfolk resident, I remember dreading visits to this DMV, knowing it would be 2 hours of my life I'd never recoup for seemingly remedial tasks. Some aspects have improved but some things remain unchanged. Arrived on Tuesday at 440p to register my daughter's vehicle. I researched required info online beforehand; gathered, completed and brought it with me (VA title, drivers license, bill of sale). Immediately corralled into an information line upon entry (there's an express line for simple things). There, after waiting your turn, you're given a number related to your task, then instructed to wait for it to be called. I was F137, the main monitors showed F130 being served. Waited over 45 minutes before a supervisor came out, noticed me sitting there forever, asked me what I needed, asked me my number, then asked an employee not taking numbers if she was still on the clock. She indeed was, so I finally got the "service" I should have received way earlier, when she saw me sitting there in the nearly empty waiting room. I was polite and warm but she said very little, clearly bothered that I was there. Charged me 100% personal property on what should have been prorated (Sept purchase), especially since the previous owner already paid it for the year. I brought this up but she said "umm, that's the fee." 25 minutes and $140 later, on a 2001 vehicle, I was able to leave but had to exit out of side doors since all others locked at 5p. Not 2 hours but definitely 70 minutes of my life I won't get back. Necessary evil....

    I came here to surrender my plates. No appointments were made, but I did have a kind woman on line…read morewho skipped her way to the already-made appointment line. She showed me how to skip the no appointment line, which cut my time in half. I approached the security guard and told him I just wanted to give my plates in and he was also kind enough to give me a ticket on the express line. Everything was fast and smooth sailing. The only reason why I took a star away was because there was no toilet paper in the bathroom. Instead, they improvised and replaced it with facial tissue. Walmart is nothing but a 3m drive. For an establishment that oversees hundreds of people a day, toilet paper should always be on hand.

    Hello, I visited this location approximately at 1:30 p.m. I needed to get an i.d card. I told the…read moreyoung lady that I was NOT trying to renew my license today, that i just need an i.d. Instead of asking me any questions, she just kept saying " you can't get an id. She continued to repeat the same thing. Once again I want to reiterate she did not ask me any questions, she just kept arguing. I could see that nothing was going to get accomplished with her, so I asked her if I could speak to a supervisor. The very first thing the supervisor asked me was" are you driving? I said no.She said okay go to the next window and the young man will help you. Alot if time was wasted because the young lady had an attitude. This is my first bad experience with this DMV that I ever had, this will not deter me from going on because I usually receive good service
