By that i mean theres workers in there lallygagging through paperwork and theres staff blatantly texting and joking on their phone. No one is any hurry to help customers get in and out. Walked in the door at 9:45am the lobby was half way filled. As I am writing this review it is 1:50pm and I am still waiting. There was only 1 person helping everyone for about 40 minutes. It was weird because 2 ladies were sitting behind the counter just talking and laughing but not taking any customers. I wasn't sure if they were on lunch or what but it was a bit odd. Even still the line moved pretty smoothly and I was able to get my things done in about 90 minutes or so.

After waiting nearly 10 days for an appointment today was the day. As a new resident here in NC I'm not too familiar with directions yet, so I went on and put the name of the place in the gps. Come to find out there was one near my area. When I get there my appointment was at 1:30 Pm so I was on time. Easy access to find parking. When I go inside there is an armed security guard, by the entrance, there was a line with about 15 ppl ahead of me but the line was moving quick. They called the people that had an appointment to the front of the line. I was up next. The older white lady did not grab her name took care of me. She was very polite and informative. When I hand her my documents come to find out I went to the wrong DMV. She quickly took actions into finding out if she can help me or not and she did. Took my documents to checking everything made sure everything was alright. There was also an African American guy next to her, he seems to be the one in charge he was helping ppl fast on the line and very professional. I waited about 20 minutes to get called. I went to the booth number 11. Was a nice lady will soon updated it and get her name the teller. She was calm, nice, and very helpful. Help me with my license and transfer. I'll give this place 5 more stars if I can I'm really happy to know we have a professional DMV in my area.

I arrived at 815a on a Monday and there were already about 20 people in line. All I needed was to renew an expiring license. It started out good when the doors opened at 830a. The lady directing folks to different lines told me window 6. I told the lady very CLEARLY and I handed her my license. It's going to EXPIRE on the August 27th and I need a VISION test. She's on the keyboard typing away, the gives me some forms to complete and then administers the EYE Test. She charged me $10 bucks and I thought that was a little low. Then she sends me over to another line to get my photo taken. The man looks at my paper work and says 'you do need a photo for a duplicate licenses. I told him what I was there for. It took me an HOUR from once I got inside to get everything sorted. The lady filled out the wrong forms and then BLAMED it on the computer. An Hour in the last place on earth you want to be on a Monday morning.

That also included renewing the Real ID as well. My wife had no problem, but when I tried, the message was I could one or the other but not both. Did not make any sense to me the Real ID is a validation on your License. Came down to having to go to one their physical offices which can be a nightmare. Learned long time ago to pick a location in a smaller town if I wanted quicker service. Last time It was in Mooresville NC but we moved since then. You can book an appointment, but they recently changed the requirements to where you could only book one up to one week in advance. Went online and everything was booked out except for two towns, and I could not click on either one. Last resort, show up in person without an appointment. There is a chart on each locations site that gives average weight times broken out by hour. Chose the 8 to 9 am time slot and it was a pleasant experience. Got there at 8:10 and out at 8:30 including eye test and photo for the license. Very pleasant experience. Very professional and would recommend this location to everyone. Great service.

Still haven't made it to the desk in time to get the license before they close. They only take walk-in's in the afternoon. Website says to make an appointment, but it won't accept appointments and they do not answer the phone. I recommend that they send management and staff to the Chick Filet school of customer service. I recommend that if you want a Real ID license, that you just renew your regular license online (use your Passport for travel ID) and forget the Real ID license (which you have to appear in person to get), unless you just have time to waste at the DMV. FYI, you can renew a passport online, so why couldn't you get the Real ID license online? The staff at the Lincolnton DMV are pleasant, but inadequate to provide even mediocre service. Elon Musk, please fix this broken system!
