I found her through scrolling on At Romance's IG page and loved Sarah's portfolio. Her work speaks for itself. She does natural and light makeup that just enhances the models and I could not be happier with the pictures. Since my wedding party was so big, she brought in an assistant to help her out. On wedding day, we started at 7am and finished all 8 of us by 12 noon, so 5 hours total. Both Sarah and assistant were punctual and very good at what they do. They pay attention to our individual facial features and all of my girls' makeup and hair turned out so beautiful. My pictures from wedding day speak for themselves! Every one of us received touchup kits and last minute touchups and setting spray application before they left us. From booking her to wedding day, Sarah must have checked up on me a few times just to ask if I had ideas of what makeup/hairstyle I wanted. I trusted her artistry and let her do what she thought was best for my face regarding makeup. For hair, I waited until I picked out my wedding dress and she gave me some hairstyle samples of what would look good with the strapless dress that I chose. She also gave me suggestions of what hair accessories and jewelry would pair well with the dress+hairstyle combo I chose. For someone who had never gotten her makeup done, I felt really good about Sarah making these tough decisions for me. Again, very professional, arrived to our getting ready location on time and gave herself ample time to set up, and performed amazingly. Her makeup application was gentle. Both the makeup and hair held up really well through a 10 hour day. She finalized the makeup schedule about a month before the big day and shared with us instructions for what to wear/show up with dry, clean hair for our appointment. From skincare to prep your skin, to makeup, to brushes, to etc. which was nice because I forgot my foundation but she had the makeup foundation I use and color! Phew, I was saved. After about 6 months after my first haircut with her, and the tips she's provided, my hair is low key thriving! Let's start off with location... She's located downtown Hayward off B Street. Although, parking kinda sucks, and it is the Main Street with so many cars, her place is so cute! Inside her place, there plenty of seating, and a lot of chairs available. For the most part, whenever I go see her, I'm probably the only other client inside - just incase you guys get nervous for Covid reasons. Nancy is so welcoming. She starts off asking you what you want to do with your hair, and she observes and starts framing your face to see if you would like it and gives out suggestions as needed. Then she washes your hair, and then she begins the cut. She's so knowledgable in the industry. She given me helpful advice on how to maintain my hair. For reference, I've always had to wash my hair daily because it's always getting so oily. So she's given me tips on how to prevent it. And after 6 months of following tips, and seeing what works for me, my hair is fuller, healthier, and thriving as I've mentioned. I also paid for saree pleating, which was done by Ruchi. I had requested the pallu to be left open, so I did not expect pleats there. However, I did expect the pleats on the lower/skirt portion to be properly pressed and finished. Unfortunately, that wasn't done. When I pointed it out, she used a hair straightener to try to fix it, but it still did not achieve the polished, professional pleated look I was hoping for. At this point I was running late for my shoot so I had to leave. When the photos came back, it was noticeable in the pictures, and family and friends commented on it as well. That was disappointing, especially for such an important shoot. I would not return for saree pleating. I also offered to bring my saree ahead of time to get it pleated in which she declined and said no need (even when I mentioned for clean pleats).
