    Shope's Automotive Service & Repair

If I could give Shope's Automotive 0 stars I would!!!…read more I took my daughter's car in based on her warranty with CarMax to repair her heat. After a couple of return visits it still wasn't repaired. The heat would work for a while, but then stop. We ended up having to go to A&M Automotive in Rock Hill, SC to get it fixed. We had to pay out-of-pocket even though this bootleg business had collected the money from CarMax. After my daughter's initial visit, I took my car in for repair. (My daughter's car was temporarily working.) THE WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!! This shop not only TOTALLY DESTROYED my car, but I'm also out of thousands of dollars!!! All of this began in February 2019. We went in because of a spinning sound from the tires. I ended up with a broken broken drive shaft, a hole in my transmission, a hole in my oil pan, a busted shifter and that's just the beginning. We ended up having to go to court. I felt like I had allowed Gomer Pyle and Barney Fife under the hood of my car. Of course we didn't win. It's difficult to prove things with cars. We knew this going in, but we could not sit by and let Jason Shope and his shotty shop get away with destroying another vehicle. We took the car to another shop, but the work done at Shope's Automotive was so shotty, it took this VERY experienced mechanic a while to figure out what could possibly be wrong. The mechanic spoke about how Shope's Automotive forced my car into gear (this should have been a LAST resort), had little to no transmission fluid in the car and how poorly the repair work had been done. I just got my car back today September 7, 2021 by wrecker service. I will give him this. He tried to fix his faulty repairs, but he just doesn't have the skill set. He realizes this so he becomes rude, cruel and obnoxious to cover up for his deficiency. Bottom line...if you never want to see your vehicle in the same or better condition than when you took it in, go to this wannabe mechanic! Others, STEER CLEAR!!! I wouldn't let this Shope's Automotive or Jason Shope perform repair work on my son's Tonka trucks!!!

This is by far the worst automotive shop in Rock Hill. I have brought my car here multiple times…read moreand spend thousands of dollars but for some reason every time i get my car back, there is another issue with it that is not fixed. I have gotten my oil leak fixed by them one time, but even after fixed it is still leaking oil. They take days to respond back and have no good communication. It took them 4 days to even take a look at my car. If you want a dependable and reliable shop, do not go here!

April 7, 2026 To…read moreWhom it may concern, This is a formal complaint that I am filing with one of the Firestone locations. Specifically, Rock Hill SC and or Two Notch location. On 10/9/2021 I had my car towed to the Rock Hill location for an engine failure. After an engine diagnosis it was determined that the reason the engine failed was due to a failed engine coil and spark plugs. After this issue was corrected and paid a lot of money to fix the issue I was on my way. On 12/6/2022 again I was towed to this location for the same issue. This time it was failed engine coil number 2 and number 3. Once AGAIN spent a lot of money to replace the parts and was on my way. On 3/29/2023 I went to another firestone in Columbia Two Notch Road to have another engine coil replaced. Almost a year later 9/27/2023 Rock Hill location, once again money spent to replace the parts with the same exact issue and had the final coil replaced. All 4 at this point have been replaced again I paid a lot of money to have ALL replaced and would never have to run into the issue again if I had this car. On 3/28/2026; my car again had the same engine issue, and the firestone in the Sumter SC expressed to me that the coil that failed was under #3 the SAME part that I paid a lot of money to replace 12/6/2022 at the Rock Hill location. I explained to this location that it is not possible that the coil failed as they were all replaced and several hundred to over one thousand dollars have been spent to correct the issue. This location provided me with the actual part that failed and stated that if the part was replaced it would NOT have the Toyota emblem on it. They stated that the location that claims to have replaced it either gave a refurbished part (after market) or did not replace it at ALL. I now have the part that FAILED that the store sent me home with so I can formally file a complaint. They stated the others are new and have all been tested at this point. I want to express that I am extremely upset at this point because AGAIN spending hundreds to replace a part that I was assured was replaced at the Rock Hill location. The Sumter store pulled all receipts, and I went back through all the emailed receipts of paperwork and invoices and in the papers it does in fact indicate that it is the one that failed and paid to have them replaced. That day of repairs, I did not pay for a refurbished part (s); I paid for a new one with a lot of time and money spent back and forth. The Sumter location also assured me that if the prior locations did replace them as they should have that there would be NO WAY that ANY of them would have died this soon. I got my first car in 2005, and it was a 1997 Malibu, and I since then have transitioned to a 2013 Toyota Corolla and have been going to Firestone for many years giving THOUSANDS of dollars and I never turned business away from this company and have spoken very highly. After this encounter, this WILL BE the very last time I go to any other Firestone in the future. Someone was NOT very honest and ripped me off, allowing me to spend money to replace parts and they failed to do it the proper way. Knowing that I cannot see in the engine to see if it was all done correctly. I have reached out to corporate multiple times, they stated to and I have screenshots to share of the conversations that they have sent information over to the area managers. After 2 weeks I reach out again and they stated the case was closed no emails no phone call. I called the store in Rock Hill the manager at the store stated that the Sumter store provided false information and if they really feel like Rock Hill messed up, they wouldn't have charged me for any other work, they are all under the same umbrella. To have the Sumter store Call him. Corporate opened the case again and again notified that they have closed the case again. I asked for my money back on that part that was replaced and each of them are throwing me back and forth with each other. They have officially lost a customer of 20 plus years thousands upon thousands of dollars. I refuse to give a referral of customers to any firestone.

Unless you want to have to take your truck to a real professional afterwards to build it back right…read moreavoid this shop. They either have no idea what they're doing or don't care to make mistakes made right. They had my dually truck for a driveshaft build and to replace some studs on the hub. Driveshaft looks good, made it 30miles down the road and the bearings locked up because they decided it would be a good idea to put the old bearing back in or they didn't install them correctly. Either way they're choice in a poor rebuild. The truck was delivered to a master mechanic of 30+ years who instantly could tell by the wear on the axle that the hub bearings were installed wrong. He then called driveline services who admitted he was right but said they weren't to blame even with their greasy thumb stains still on the hub they ruined. Then Josh gave us the run around and was absolutely no help in fixing the issue they left me with. The mechanic and myself were very disappointed in how they handled the situation. We're all human and make mistakes but to be rude about it and act like he's the best builder there is and to not take any responsibility speaks volumes on their service. I've told many of my big rig buddies to avoid this place at all costs.
