Justin was our very communicative and knowledgeable point of contact for a significant reframing project to change out our aging backyard metal multi-paned view window (see picture) with a new Milgard vinyl window. The project required significant reframing of the space, creating/building an eave, matching the existing roof slant, tiles, and look & feel for the new roof, and creating new ceiling space inside to make up for the old overhead window portion of the space, including the knock-down texture coat and paint-matching! They have painted and repaired the entire exterior of our home (painting all the trim and fascia and doing exterior repairs before that) as well as the entire interior TWICE. They repainted my beautiful custom main bath cabinets, which were done poorly by the original carpenter and had scuffs and exposed wood patches. They made those cabinets look better than new, and did so in a timely and professional manner! They also came back to repaint our garage door since I made a bad color choice there. :-) They painted a much lighter color over a dark garage in what seemed like no time at all and it looks perfect. They do all associated repairs (if there are dings or stucco repairs or wood filling, etc.), the work is SO stellar that when we had the exterior of our very complicated two-story home done, neighbors stopped continuously to tell us how great the house looked. They still do so now, a year and a half later! Their estimates are always reasonable, the workmen friendly and professional, and they ALWAYS show up when they say they will (how refreshing, right?). I will preface this by saying I don't have a lot of experience with contractors so this may be normal. Overall they did good work and were nice and fairly timely (2 months past schedule but we did make some big changes although I was assured it would be done by Christmas and it's wasn't done until mid January) however there were a few issues. My husband and I did a huge whole house remodel floor to ceiling. It has been a 7 month project and we moved out for part of this time. Initially during the walk through there were things mentioned that were forgettwn in the original estimate. We added a bedroom and we discussed the location of the closet at that time. We also discussed adding in canned lighting in the kitchens and dinning room. These things were left out of our original estimate but then included as a change order. As someone who hasn't done projects like this I didn't realize that a bedroom didn't come with a closet and we would need to pay 7k for these things in the end even though it was discussed. At the end of the project we were given a final bill. As I was reviewing it there were charges that were never discussed with me. I was questioning them not realizing my husband had signed estimates I was unaware of and I was not emailed copies of. Their response was to reissue another final bill for 20k more to intimidate us into signing it. It was a low blow after how much time and money we have already spend with them (over 300,000) We also had the entire exterior resided and it was primed. I guess the estimate did not include paint which surprised me. I get that it wasn't included in the quote but something i didn't realize wasn't included it's not something I knows to look for and it should have been mentioned up front. They were nice enough to do it at no charge in the end. Overall as i said the work was fair. The longer we are home the more issues we see. The bathroom tile was installed crooked. We had all new showers and dry wall installed but they blamed the fact that the framing was off. I'm sure I'd their workers weren't getting high in the driveway it might have been a little straighter. ( side note my 2 year old found a joint one day, luckily we grabbed it before he could put it his mouth) I'm sure those are normal things on a job sight but just to be aware. The biggest issue of all was that our toilets were installed at the wrong distance. There is a large gap at the back of the tank. They measured wrong and places it at 16 inches instead of 12. Instead of taking ownership and fixing the issues correctly they tried to say there is a range and it was in code. They tried to buy new toilets to get it to fit better but it's still not right. They also took the new toilets we purchased and returned them (pocketing the money) when they bought new toilets instead of letting us return them and get our money back. There weee a lot of issues with communication and being told we need to be at the house for walk throughs with 1 day notice. I work full time and cannot take of 2 hours last minute so maybe if they were able to schedule these things better the communication would be easier.
