We don't have pumpkin patches where I am (or at least they're not listed), so I found DJ's Berry Patch and saw the positive reviews. I made the 40 minute drive and was not disappointed in the selection or prices! With plenty of parking spots, we were able to park immediately. The farm stand is rather small but there's a lot of variety if you're going right when they open. As for pumpkins, there were plenty and we each found massive pumpkins for $16 each. I also bought a small white pumpkin for $5 and their mums were buy one get one free for $8 total. They have produce, jams, hot sauces, and cold/frozen items for sale, too. The cashiers were quick and friendly. Overall, this was a great place to go get pumpkins and I definitely want to come back for strawberry picking! read more

Our family loves going to DJ's Berry Patch to pick strawberries. We'll get together with friends who also have young kids and all the children love to pick the strawberries. There are other items for sale at the farm stand, like ice cream, fresh eggs, jam, vegetables, flowers, and herbs. We're lucky to live close to this strawberry farm and we visit it a few times each season. The strawberries are delicious and we enjoy them fresh and for baking. We also love going to DJs Barry Patch in the Fall because they set up an excellent pumpkin patch. We get our pumpkins there every year. read more

I enjoy your strawberries very much. I only purchase ones that are already picked. I came 3 times and only was able to get a pint! The two other times no fresh picked were available. In fact it was a Thurs or Fri and the person said none would be available until Monday! This was odd with upcoming holidays. When I came back a 3rd time and got your delicious strawberries.... I indeed left a good tip too! I believe in supporting local farmers and businesses. A lovely place to spend a Saturday afternoon with family! Everyone was so kind and welcoming here and they had a nice picture booth with pumpkin decor. They had a wide variety of vegetables as well. Why do fresh picked strawberries taste so much better than grocery store berries? Maybe it's the do-it-yourself thing; but I had forgotten how much sweeter berries taste just off the vine. DJs is a an efficiently run set up. You drive in, park, walk up to the table, decide what size container you want to fill, pay your money and start picking. Most people start picking right near the parking, so you're better off going farther down the row. The best times seem to be early morning where you can take advantage of the slightly cooler temperatures and fewer people. If you don't have time to pick, you can buy berries pre-picked that day. And if you can't wait to get home, DJs also has some pound cake and Maple View Ice cream. You probably have to bring your own spoon, though. There's also other produce available at different times of year. While it's berry season, though, take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy how much better things taste straight from the vine and even more so when you pick them yourself. read more

My daughter and I went here to pick out a few pumpkins. I really wanted to take her to a pumpkin patch that was more kid oriented with corn maizes and a "harvest playground". The pumpkins they offer are decent quality. They also offer lovely flowers and gourds. I bought some lovely purple Mums. There is a small offering of local produce which was delicious. We liked the small peppers, and honeycrisp apples. After we shopped, we bought a few servings of ice cream to enjoy outside. What a cute place. The workers were pleasant. I plan to visit more often to get local fresh produce. read more

Hmm, it doesn't seem to me that this establishment currently has a set of reviews that match my experience. My boyfriend and I visited DJ's a couple months ago to pick strawberries. It was a bright, sunny day. We each took a bucket and got to work. We didn't buy any of the prepicked or other products for sale, but we did load up with absolutely delicious strawberries, which I later used to make chocolate-covered strawberries. I have no qualms at all regarding the prices. It was $10 for a full bucket of fresh berries; $12 if you go over the rim. I'm terrible at dimensional estimation, but it was a perfectly reasonable size. It didn't look so much smaller than a gallon ice cream bucket to me. (They charged us less because I didn't fill my bucket up the whole way, too.) I had a great time and would absolutely go back. It is a bit out of the way, but what else could one expect for a farm? read more

THEY DO HAVE PICK YOU OWN PUMPKINS!!!! We were looking for a pick your own pumpkin place and doing some research it said DJ's was the place in the Cary area... We drove on over, only saw the pumpkins in the front (already picked) and thought, really!!! We didn't ask anyone and took off.... Extremely disappointed.... Went to another place that advertised the same thing... this time we asked and they didn't... Even more disappointed now... Plus this place wanted to charge us $10/person just to go in... WOWSERS!!!! Decided to head home and do some research and find a place... While we were driving back, we passed DJ's again and saw the patch and people picking pumpkins... We were SO SO EXCITED Able to get pictures of our 10month old picking his own pumpkin... Someone brought the most delicious and sweet cantaloupe and watermelon from DJ's Berry Patch to our family reunion. It was so good my sister, mom and I decided to go there today. What a beautiful setting, the fruits and vegetables were beautifully displayed, the staff were so helpful and they even had ice cream made from their own strawberries. The ice cream didn't even make it out of the parking lot before we ate it. The same can be said for the peaches, I loved them because they were sweet and firm with just a bit of tartness. All the produce looked like it was picked that day, because it was, the stand is right next to the fields. There's also benches and a swing that you can sit and spend some time enjoying the beautiful view and the peace and quiet. We had such a great time and walked away with corn, kale, snap peas, peaches and the ice cream. We've already enjoyed the corn and it was sweet and crisp. I love DJ's Berry Patch! read more

I won't get product from this farm again. Last year I bought produce from them at a booth in the apex farmers market. The next day everything I bought had gone bad. I guess at the market they showed their most poor product. It's a shame because I like to buy local. read more

I absolutely love DJ's Berry Patch and look forward to seeing their Open sign in the spring and summer! The people who work there are always so nice and helpful and the prices are very reasonable. We go almost every weekend to pick up fresh veggies and fruit and are never disappointed with the quality. They have tomatoes in bulk (in season) that I use for canning and have even held a box for me when I called. We look forward to going again this year!! read more

Been coming here for the past 5 years to pick strawberries as a family and we always leave happy. Great place to spend quality time with the family with some nice background for photos. Place is well kept, staff is friendly and the strawberries are always super tasty. Unsure whether they use pesticides or not for anyone concerned about that. You can pick your own or buy pre-picked. Priced well in opinion. Have never compared price to grocery stores but well worth considering you're supporting local food and farmers. I have always had one small complaint though. That is it would be nice to give customers at least a small savings for going back every year and using the same bucket originally purchased. I mean even a $1 is something. Either way a place you must visit. Now for a strawberry smoothie! read more

Nice little patch. Only good local source for corn stalks - and they keep the corn on them so you can peel the husks back and see the cheerful yellow of the corn - adding a little life to your fall display. They take credit card, plenty of parking. It is a little hard to find. Just drive south of Davis Drive, then where the road takes a sharp right, you should turn left over the train tracks - then drive a few hundred feet past the Salem Baptist Church. Stopped by there to pickup some produce and got over charged for the items. They corrected the mistake after I said something. I got home and most of the food was over ripe or was left on the plant too long. The string beans were so gross and had to toss them in the trash. All I can say is beware of the prices and stay clear of the bad crops. The strawberrys and melons I got were good, so I gave them 1 star. read more

Went here on 22 May 2011 in an effort to pick strawberries. Unfortunately, the owners explained, a preceding period of rainy weather meant the fields needed to be closed to amateur harvesters for several days. (Understandable, but it would have been helpful if they'd updated their website with that information before I read it and drove all the way out to rural Apex.) Anyway, the sales tent was still open for business, offering peaches, tomatoes, other vegetables, and home-made ice cream. I couldn't resist the latter, so I got the butter pecan flavor. It was very good. I wish I'd bought a larger size. I'm not really sure what the various "seasons" are as far as berry-picking goes, but I'll probably check this place out again next time I'm in that part of the world. read more

I've gone to DJ's for berry picking in the spring and pumpkins in the fall. For berry picking, it is really good. A tad more expensive than buying from the grocery stores, but hey, I'm supporting the local farmer. My young kids love finding the strawberries and putting them in the bucket - kind of like a treasure hunt. I think it is good for them too to see where food actually is grown and comes from. The berries have a good taste although they don't have a very long shelf life - maybe a couple days, tops. DJ's also has a good selection of small to large size pumpkins. Again, prices are a bit more but not terrible. In addition to a couple of "porch" pumpkins, we also recently bought a "pie" pumpkin. Looking forward to trying it! (Can't yet report on its taste.) Next time I'll bring my camera for the pumpkin season - it would have been a great photo-op with the kids in the middle of some of the HUGE pumpkins. One truly was almost as big a 2 year old. read more
