The first year, we took our kids to the Bethesda school since the Petworth location was already booked. We planned ahead for this summer and booked our kids at the Petworth school. Both locations had the same high quality of instruction. We have somewhat shy kids, and both locations really helped them gain that confidence to perform. We also really like that the schools are bi-lingual. We have been teaching our kids Spanish, and like that they continue to get this language integrated into their daily learning. The school offers a wide range of classes. The first year, the class was more about modern dance and hip hop (by the way, hilarious with 4 year-olds). This past class, was tap dancing (again, pretty entertaining). This is one of the better summer camps. I can tell my kids love it, even if when I ask them, they only give me 2 word responses like, "It's good!"

Let me give you the run down: Booking online is made so easy through MindBody. If you're like me and love group fitness or activities, the app is the best way to add, modify, and delete sessions from your calendar. When purchasing the monthly pass, (which was only $90 for the first time!), you'll be able to select any session that piques your interest and directly add it to your digital calendar. Upon arrival, the friendly receptionists will get you signed in and tell you which studio you're in. You can wait in that seating area for a moment if you are early, or head right on in and use the cubbies for storing your items. Literally my ONLY recommendation to the team would be for the receptionists to share where the bathroom is located... It took me until the second session (the same night) to realize it was behind the door at the back of the Studio A. My first class was Dance Fitness with Mario Cervantes. The class was nothing short of awesome. He had such a radiant and contagious energy that got the whole class moving in this full-body cardio session. My tip for newbies: take plenty of water, take a small towel (you WILL be sweating), and take advantage of when he changes the song. It was soooo fun. And the proof is in the pudding: I burned 700+ calories in 45 minutes. My second class was immediately after with Richard Gil. This was Tier I. Intro to Bachata. The class size was on the smaller size, so the teacher and his assistant were able to provide professional and detailed corrections to our movements and technique. While I still had lots of fun, it was clear that Richard cares about how his students learn and apply proper bachata principles. I really appreciated this welcoming, uplifting, and constructive atmosphere! My third class (yes, in the same night! I was wore out) was Tier I. Intro to Salsa, which was back with Mario. The class size was bigger, so there was less individualized instruction, but the energy was again incredibly engaging. He used humor, passion, and experience to get everyone moving towards the correct Salsa movements and techniques. Overall, a really wonderful experience. I'm super excited to have something to look forward to each week and will definitely be adding onto this review as I engage with more teachers and take more classes!

In preparation for our October 19, 2013 wedding she met with my then fiancé and I to get to know us, our style, and our desires for our wedding day. DJ Shazzle was able to offer suggestions, walk us through our entire day, and put us at ease. When the music director for my live band for the ceremony fell through only a few weeks before our wedding day, she stepped right in and connected us with several of her friends in the industry to procure a live band. The band was excellent and really set the very elegant and classy feel we wanted for our evening ceremony. It wouldn't have been without her...simply put! DJ Shazzle managed the sound and setup for both our ceremony and reception. Now, on to the reception. What is a reception without a DJ? Better question...what is a reception without DJ Shazzle?! We can't tell you that. But we can tell you that DJ Shazzle had our guests ready to party from the time we made our first entrance until the time we cut the cake. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed DJ Shazzle, she kept the people movin' and the party going'. There were so many shoes on the floor, unattended. We've got the video footage to prove it. There was NEVER a dull moment or an empty dance floor, just the way we wanted!! When you get the grandparents moving and even my parents...you've definitely got something special going!!! Not only was she a great DJ, but she also served as our MC, and we couldn't have been happier!! My guests loved her so much, several have inquired about doing future events, and even the wedding planner LOVED her! DJ Shazzle was my first choice and I couldn't have made a better decision. Easily one of the best and the easiest decisions regarding my wedding day. WE CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH!!! Booking DJ Shazzle is one of the best decisions you could ever make for your wedding or special event. In the words of our bridal party, "she DID that!"

I most recently had a karaoke game night party. There wasn't a song she did not have. She helped break the ice for my guests to get them to sing by suggesting a game, becoming a hype man and MC-ing in-between. One of the biggest things my husband and I wanted for our wedding was to have a good time and party the entire reception and that's exactly what we got. Kyle did amazing - we gave him an idea of the vibe we wanted and a couple of song suggestions and he took that and went above and beyond. We gave him complete control to pick the music for cocktail hour and dinner and it was awesome. I could feel the fun energy during cocktail hour, even though I was getting pictures taken in another location. Hiring Mixing Maryland was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. They were not only amazing at what they do, but they were wonderful to work with. They even helped me figure out some timeline logistics with my coordinator because we wanted everything to flow smoothly and have maximum time on the dancefloor. I'm also a COVID bride and we had to reschedule my wedding from October 2020. They were extremely flexible and communicative during that time and we worked together to find a new date that worked for my vendors. They made everything super easy. If you want a good time at your wedding or party - hire Mixing Maryland. You will not be disappointed!!

We were able to do a few calls to run through logistics, do not play lists, and how we envisioned the night. Kyle was very accommodating, and awesome to work with. It felt soooooo weird, but I'm glad I tried!! Then they opened the floor for social dancing and it got surprisingly crowded. This is a very safe environment. Security checks your bag. I came solo and felt perfectly fine. Many people were solo, guys and female. So, it's a cool vibe. Of course there were couples and groups of people that came together. But in the dance community, it's fine to go solo. People are respectful and really respect dancing. I will say, this is the sort of environment where people are taking classes and coming here to practice, along with plenty of instructors dancing. So there's a lot of flair and showmanship. I was thinking, am I at Dancing With The Stars or what, lol!! Lot's and lot's of turns and endless turn patterns. Less musicality. That's what makes it not my style so much, but a lot of fun for others. The classes were about 1 hour each, organized, and gave you a taste of the different styles. The instructors told everyone where they teach so you could take more classes. As with anyplace, some leads are fantastic and easy to follow, and other leads are still learning and practicing how to lead, so it can be bumpy dancing with them. Especially if its a first time dancing together. Other leads were really smooth and easy and fun to follow. There's a full bar selling beer, wine, and mixed drinks. If you bring a water bottle, it must be empty and they will fill it with water for you. Or you can purchase bottled water. I had a pretty good time and danced several songs and learned Salsa on 2. So it was a solid experience for me. Highly recommend.
