Luckily, I was lucky to see him in action at one of my friend's wedding so I knew how dynamic Kurtis was with the audience :) Our experience from start to finish was impeccable. When I first contacted GrooveBox, I got a prompt response from Karen. She was friendly, informative and really cared about making sure she provided excellent customer service. I liked the fact that this wasn't a huge company where they may treat customers as just a number. Karen provided an outline of services that were available and asked what we were looking for. She then connected my fiancé (now my hubby) and I to DJ Kurtis. We met with Kurtis so we could share our vision and also asked him his recommendations (what worked well at weddings). He knew all the fun traditional wedding activities (i.e. money dance for a Filipino wedding and added humor/fun to the garter toss). Kurtis was cool, fit perfectly for our age group (30's and our parents age) plus he even MC'd the event, which was awesome! He also brought an assistant with him on the day of the reception to help run things smoothly. They had a large selection of song choices and even if it wasn't on the list, they tried to get the song to make us happy. My husband and I were very pleased and GrooveBox Entertainment and would definitely recommend them (thanks for making our wedding so memorable & AWESOME)!

Here is what happened, we coordinated with Kaveer who is ver prompt and answers every question you have, in setting up a call with one of the DJ's Kurits. Kurtis was amazing and really asked the right questions and helped us navigate what we wanted in a DJ. Kurtis also helped us work out a package that worked for our budget which was truly a life saver. We got a call from bot Kaveer and Kurtis apologizes profusely that unfortunately Kurits was already booked on our wedding date unbeknownst to Kurits. Kaveer went over our package that we worked out with Kurtis and told us he had another great DJ in mind, Mark. We were a little hesitate of the whole situation but went ahead and spoke with Mark. I am glad we did because he cane from the same school of though as Kurtis and really understood us. I feel that all the DJ here really listen and care about the Bride and Groom and don't BS you just to get your money. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for a DJ they truly are the best!

We had meetings with them and communicated through email throughout the planning process, which helped us feel prepared for our big day. The MC kept everyone entertained in both Korean and English. Not only she's super organized and meticulous about little details but she also has such a great taste! You could definitely tell that she truly loves what she does! She helped us from narrowing down to a theme, picking out color palette, setting up all the props, she even prepared a few fun (non-cheesy) games to entertain our guests! We simply shared the direction that I tend to like (neutral, organic, quaint, nothing frou-frou, and especially no on the offensive pink). We also wanted to reuse some of the props from our wedding for the baby shower. Rima was able to seamlessly incorporate them into the rustic burlap and lace baby shower décor! Every little detail was beautifully presented, from the lovely dessert table, adorable papier rosettes, elegant center piece for the dining table, charming rosette chandeliers, precious baby wreath, and last but not least, the really chic chevron backdrop, which I was totally in love with! Everything was just as I had imagined if not better!

Fast forward to years later, and I have added WCS, Argentine Tango, and Square Dancing to my dancing list, and then happened upon The Living Tradition folks here in SoCal during a demo night just before an Irish contemporary folk group's concert in the summer months' public concert series at Chapman University. They are very friendly and welcoming to everyone. Straight and LGBT friendly. "You wanna dance? Great to see you," is their attitude. Plus ALL ages. Note: Beginners Welcome Year Round at Each Dance What is so very nice about dancing with them each month is that you can be brand new to Contra anytime during the year, and go and you'll be fine. They have a mini-dance class at the start of the Saturday evening. Then there is a Contra Dance Caller for the evening. S/he will always instruct for what are the steps you will do in the next Tip/Dance, so you're fine as a beginner as well as an experienced Contra Dancer. This is fantastic exercise. They dance monthly on the 4th SAT in downtown Anaheim in the Downtown Community Center (http://www.anaheim.net/article.asp?id=85). There is abundant free parking, and the building is well A/C'd. If you've ever danced in SoCal in the summertime, you know what a LOVELY feature this is. Pricing: Unless otherwise noted at their website, $10 per person; $8 for Anaheim residents, Living Tradition members, seniors, and full-time students. Children under 18 FREE with paid adult. Seriously, all ages dance here. Bring a bottle of water and remember to sip and hydrate between contra tips.
