My husband and I recently got married. When we were planning the wedding many of our married friends and family members said hiring the right DJ is one of the most important things to ensure people will have a good time at the wedding. We set out to find someone who would give a good, memorable party also without breaking the bank. We met DJ Harsh through a mutual friend and we didn't need to look no further. His larger than life personality is matched (if not surpassed) by his incredible talent at providing music for our wedding and working with people. His experience and professionalism shows through from the first meeting we had at a coffee shop over a year before the wedding right up through the big day. He is also smart and hysterical. He gave us some homework, the "15-15-15" list. First we make a list of 15 songs we absolutely must have played at the wedding. Then a list of 15 songs we absolutely do NOT want played. Lastly, a list of 15 songs if he can get to, great. If not, no biggie. DJ Harsh takes his time to get to know his clients. That way he can better serve them and give their wedding guests a better time. Also he doesn't just do the reception. We booked DJ Harsh for our wedding on October 11, 2014 at Loft on Lake in Chicago. He was amazing! About a month before the wedding, we met with him to talk through some specifics. He provided fantastic suggestions for things like the processional, bridal party intros, father/daughter dance, etc. We just told him the vibe we were looking for, what type of music we like and don't like, and he did the rest. Ok, meet with him first to make sure you jive, but he's funny, very helpful, very easy going, and he will make everyone at your wedding dance. And have all your guests raving to you later about how great your music was and what a good hire that DJ was. We had our ceremony and our reception in the same place, and he handled it masterfully. We even threw in a curve with a surprise (for the groom) string trio playing during the dinner. Then he went over and hooked them up with a microphone when he realized they weren't being heard well enough. An absolute pleasure to work with. DJ Harsh is the man. He is a true professional and exceeded our expectations for our wedding in June 2017. He gave us great advice in avoiding certain songs that sound great but don't work for a dance floor at a wedding. We listened to him and our wedding dance floor was packed all night. He had smooth transitions between songs keeping everyone out having a great time. The best part of working with Harsh though is that he listened to us! We told him that if anyone comes up to him during the wedding and requests songs to be a professional about it but please don't play it. If he didn't listen to us, our wedding would have fell victim to an empty dance floor because one person wanted to hear something that they like singing to themselves in the car by themselves. Harsh is the best! From our very first conversation, I knew that he was the right DJ for our wedding on 11/11/17. He's a very funny, down-to-earth guy! Throughout the process, he was always very responsive, helpful, and organized. I'm not a big music buff, so he gave us a lot of great suggestions and helped us pick our songs. He really went above and beyond. He accompanied us to our final walk-through to make sure he had all the necessary equipment, and even took care of the up-lighting (which saved us a ton of money and made the venue look amazing). WHAT A GUY! Harsh was nothing but a great time from beginning to end! When we first met with him over a year ago to talk about our union on 8/24/12 he immediately got the feel we were going for - about a month out we met him at his home and we went through everything - what we HAD to hear down to what we would NEVER want to hear. The fist time I met DJ Harsh I knew he was the perfect choice for our wedding. Throughout the planning process, he provided excellent advice and worked with us to make sure that we were able to include all of the songs we (and our family members) wanted to hear, and steered us gently onto the right path when we had ideas that he knew wouldn't work well - and I was more than happy to trust his expert advice. Harsh DJ'ed our same-sex Hindu wedding ceremony and reception this past weekend at Salvage One in Chicago - he was just AMAZING from the very beginning of the entire process (he even took the initiative to coordinate with many of our other vendors so that the timing of the music would be perfect). He truly made the night magical with the sound that he created for us. The music from the ceremony, cocktail hour, first dances, and reception were all perfect and it felt like all of our guests were dancing from the very beginning to the very end of the night! Harsh is in a word incredible!! A good friend of ours who is a wedding planner introduced my partner and I to Harsh as we planned our 40th anniversary. We wanted music to reflect each decade of our union but with a major emphasis on disco dance music as this was the decade we met. We used DJ Harsh for our wedding at City View Loft. He was fantastic to work with, laid back, prompt and has a great selection of music. It was nice meeting him from the beginning and working with him directly to know exactly who you're getting as your DJ for your big day. Harsh is amazing! He was our DJ for our wedding in November 2011. He came highly recommended to me by a friend in the hotel industry as someone who had a lot of experience and knew what he was doing. I thought a DJ is a DJ, they just play music, right? There is SO much more to it than that - and he was the only person during the chaos of our reception I knew didn't need to be directed at all. He made sure we didn't have to worry about a thing. When we were first meeting, he was super funny, engaging, and told us what would work and what wouldn't. He very politely told me that my idea of our entrance to a Deadmau5 song probably wasn't the best, but took my style and found an amazing entrance song that my husband and I both liked. During the reception, he asked the banquet hall staff to dim the lights during our entrance and then turn them up at the height of the song. It was such a great surprise and had an amazing effect. We asked him not to play any requests from our crazy relatives and he honored our wishes, even though he had some very demanding people telling him what to play. My husband and I had the music WE wanted, not what our random drunk guests requested. We got so many compliments from our guests that it was the best music they heard at a wedding, and everyone was dancing until the end. Will definitely use him for events in the future. Harsh was our wedding DJ this June, and he was great! We were nervous about the DJ hiring process because we had a lot of expectations of our DJ that we weren't sure one single person could meet, but Harsh did! We were looking for a DJ that: 1) understood that this was a WEDDING and not a club, 2) was mature enough to appeal to our older crowd, 3) yet was young at heart and capable of having fun with our younger guests, and 4) was willing to work with our diverse guests' musical tastes (Polish, Spanish, and American - young and old). Harsh was definitely the DJ that we were looking for! He offered us a lot of great tips and suggestions to make the wedding day flow more smoothly and even gave us advice on our first dance. He played all of the songs that we asked him to, and nothing off of our "do not play" list. Words cannot begin to describe how great an experience we had with DJ Harsh. I saw him DJ a friend's wedding in 2014, recommended him to another friend of mine in 2016, and then had the good fortune to hire him for mine last month. At all three there was no one who could resist the lure of the dance floor; the music was amazing, and he is a pro at reading the crowd. Working with him was also a breeze; he's as low touch or as high touch as you need him to be, and takes into account your loves (and hates!) when putting together a playlist, adding his expertise when needed. He integrated seamlessly with all our other vendors and kept the night on schedule as emcee. I highly recommend booking him before word gets out about how great he is and he'll be forced to raise his incredibly reasonable prices... your night is made or broken with your choice of DJ, and I would go with no one else. Harsh did our wedding at Loyola University Chicago in October 2013. He was recommended to us by our catering service. Harsh did a superb job! Several weeks before the wedding he asked us to give him lists of our favorite music for dancing, listening, or for the ceremony, and then we met with him to go over our lists and the wedding schedule of events over coffee at his place. We booked Harsh for our wedding reception in Chicago, and we live in Texas, so planning out of town was a little tricky. Harsh accommodated our travel schedule and met with us when we were in town so we could meet in person and plan some of the songs for the introductions and first dances. From there we reached out to him and booked him in a heartbeat for our Indian/American fusion wedding. Harsh killed it at our wedding! From ceremony through the reception, the night went along seamlessly, and the dance floor was packed to the very end. Harsh did a great job "feeling the vibe" and making music selections that catered to everyone at the party, and we got complimented from guests of all ages. What really impressed me was Harsh's professionalism and attention to detail. Harsh went out of the way to survey the venue weeks in advance, so he knew exactly what equipment was required and where he would set up. He also did a great job with some special requests we had. He worked directly with the musicians we had during our ceremony to make sure he knew their cues and the equipment and audio settings they preferred. He also worked closely with the father of the bride, who wanted to do a special father-daughter dance that mashed together multiple songs. This involved a lot of coordination and effort on Harsh's part, but it worked out great and was definitely one of the highlights of the night. If you want the music for your wedding to be perfect, you need to hire Harsh. Harsh handled all of the music for our entire event--ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, dancing. We could not have been happier. Every piece of music seemed personally tailored to our tastes, and our guests made several comments about how the ceremony and dinner music seemed very personalized. And then came the dancing...oh, the dancing. I was a sweaty, exhausted bride at the end of this epic dance party, and I couldn't have been more thrilled about that! Harsh kept the majority of our guests on the floor for hours, busting sweet moves (ok, enthusiastic moves). Every time I thought I could take a break from the dance floor, the next song would come on and it was another "must dance". My husband had just has much fun, and was just as thrilled about Harsh. How did he do such a great job? Well, part of it is that the man just has outstanding knowledge about every aspect of music and his job. But just as importantly, he takes a lot of time to get to know his clients and he truly listens to what they want the event to be. He is professional, yet an absolute blast to be around. He made us feel that he had everything under control for our wedding, and then he absolutely delivered. He even made sure to make sure my husband or I were around when he was getting ready to play one of our favorite songs. Harsh was the DJ for our wedding reception at Sofitel Labor Day weekend 2015 and he was AWESOME! He kept the energy up through the entire night- starting with our entrance song with the bridal party. Everyone was so excited, on their feet clapping and dancing- and he was able to keep that vibe through the night. He played the songs we requested and did a good job feeling out the room as to when to switch up the music or what to play so we didn't have to worry about that during our party. Harsh has a funny sense of humor that was perfect for our crowd, even when certain family members got a bit rowdy ;). Before the event, Harsh was always available to meet with us in person, talk over the phone, responded to emails quickly- he was very easy and professional to work with, listened to how we wanted the night to go, gave us advice, and made everything run smoothly for us. I cannot say enough wonderful things about DJ Harsh! My son attends a non-for-profit preschool in Lincoln Park, and we booked him for the school's annual gala and fundraiser. The event took place on 2/7/15 at Floating World Gallery. DJ Harsh was highly recommended by the gallery, and I can see why! From the moment we met him, he brought a really fun vibe and great energy (not to mention, he's absolutely hysterical and kept us entertained throughout the months of planning). We knew immediately he needed to be a part of our "team." Best decision ever! He was always available for questions, gave us lots of great advice, and even went above and beyond to find us a special projector and screen which worked out perfect for our live auction and slideshow. We had a tricky situation the evening of the event, with bouncing back and forth between rooms, and he was on top of everything. He would make announcements when we needed them, handled the AV perfectly, was happy to bounce between rooms.....I can't imagine doing this event without him.
