Despite initial favorable meetings with the owner, our day-of DJ was unprepared, one hour late, did not play songs on our preferred list but did play a song on the "don't not play" list. Casey from DJ Guy was the hit of our wedding. Throughout the whole planning process, he was available for calls and emails, and easily made any changes that we requested. He provided speakers and microphones for our outdoor ceremony, which worked flawlessly. The walkout music he provided for the speeches were big hits, and he was excellent about ad-libbing introductions for everyone. During the reception, everybody was on the dance floor the entire time, as the music easily flowed with the vibe of our group. Casey even joined the dance floor to lead the cupid shuffle! Found this company after we planned our wedding at Stonebrook Manor. They were one of the preferred DJs for this venue. When we planned our wedding over a year ago we wanted to get all of our vendors chosen quickly because we didn't want to worry, we got married in October 2018. We first met with DJ Guy in October of 2017. And they were very nice and friendly. Explained they had a library of thousands and thousands of songs. And if they didn't have it, they would buy it. Explained that they would match a DJ to what kind of songs you chose. Over the next year we had our own portal where we could pick songs we wanted and veto songs that we didn't want to hear. When our wedding day came, the DJ introduced himself before he got started. His name was David. He was very friendly. Before the reception, introductions and major dances he verified he had the correct songs. During the ceremony and reception he was great! He kept the party going! HIRE THE DJ GUYS!! We had so much fun at our wedding and everything went to smoothly! I will add that we used them for our outdoor ceremony on top of Dercum Mountain in Keystone, CO and for our reception! My husband and I filled out all of the forms/songs that we wanted played during the precessional, processional, and recessional, and for the reception. It was very organized! We even had a teleconference the week before the wedding to confirm all of the songs/order of events to make sure everything ran smoothly the day of, which it did! We walked with Mike and Payton during the planning process but David Graham was our DJ during the wedding. Everyone was so friendly and professional through all of the emails and even the day of! We hired DJ Guy for our August 2014 wedding on a recommendation from a friend. As we were planning our wedding from another state (we live in Seattle), communication was key for us. DJ Guy went above and beyond. They answered emails and phone calls promptly and paid attention to details I hadn't even considered. The day of the wedding our DJ (James) was so friendly and kept the party going. We had requested no speeches at the reception and James played buffer when one of our well-intentioned drunk friends wanted to give a toast. We had also asked for no line dances but our guests kept requesting them. James checked in with us after every request and we quickly gave in to the line dances (give the people what they want!). James not only DJed but was leading the crowd, teaching dance moves and seemed to be having a ton of fun doing so. Awesome business run by awesome people! read more

The Good: The planning process is pretty slick, you get signed up for an online portal where you can fill out some planning forms and choose your music genres/specific songs. The online portal goes through every aspect of your wedding day and even has a database of music that you can listen to if you need inspiration. With such clear forms, the DJ played our selected songs for every aspect of our wedding correctly. We got a great deal with our wedding being in November -- they were available on our wedding day on short notice (6 weeks out), and we got an off-season rate. Though they typically don't allow 3rd party hookups, they allowed my little sister to play her keyboard through their sound system during the ceremony (and provided the cable to do so). This was important. The Not-So-Good: During our final consultation (10 days out), we went through all the forms and answered last minute questions, but I left with the feeling that something was missing. I may not have had additional questions at the time, but I did not feel like we had a thorough enough final consultation to make sure our day went smoothly. An example would be that day-of, our DJ rejected all guest song requests! I had not thought to specify this detail, and I feel like it should have been asked of us. We had some songs/genres selected, as well as a do not play list, but we never told the DJ to reject guest requests. Announcements also could have been louder/more clear -- this seemed to get lost among guests. Although the DJ got people dancing all night, a number of guests were disappointed with the DJ for not playing more variety of music and rejecting song requests. Overall: Although nothing went terribly wrong and the vendor is very professional and well-known in the industry, I was not "wow-ed" by the choice of DJ for my wedding. DJ Guy has several DJs on staff, so your experience could vary based on who is selected for your wedding. read more

Our wedding was August 2016. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANY DJ Guy Services. They had us fill out a detailed planning guide outlining what music to play for each part of our wedding. We had a final meeting and discussed everything that would happen and clearly communicated our expectations, however, The DJ WAS UNPREPARED. The DJ DID NOT FOLLOW ANY OF THE PLAN FOR THE EVENT, including playing the song I (the bride) requested for when I walked down the aisle. He did not play any music for the wedding recessional. He did not play the song we requested for when we were announced at the reception. He did not play the song we requested to open the dance floor. And, he pulled me aside during the reception for help on what songs to play. We also used their photobooth services. BIG MISTAKE. My intention was to use the photobooth photos as my guest book. The attendant was completely useless. SHE MISSPELLED MY HUSBANDS NAME ON THE PHOTO STRIPS. She did not assist or instruct guests on how to use the photo booth. She did not compile the album. I was mortified when I was presented with the album at the end of the night and it was nothing more than a binder of clear jackets with white computer paper inside and photos tucked into the jackets. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE PHOTO BOOTH SERVICES unless you want a DIY project after. I talked with the company about my experience. They attempted to make amends by sending us all new photo strips with the misspelling corrected and a small refund. When the "corrected" photos arrived, none of the photos were copies of the photos that had errors in them. Which means that we were not sent ALL the photos as promised. So, now I have a "guest book" with misspellings of my husbands name throughout - an issue that could have been addressed at the ceremony if the the attendant would have immediately addressed her mistake by asking people to return to the booth! AGAIN, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE SERVICES. read more

We had a final call before the big day to go over everything and were even more impressed with the questions they asked us! On the big day the DJ (Kevin - amazing!) kept us on a timeline but always made sure we were ready for first dances and the cake cutting. Amazing. I had read the yelp reviews on different DJ's in Denver and because of the rave reviews we went with DJ Guy. It turned out to be one of the best decisions that we made for our wedding. The DJ was there from the prelude ceremony music through the last dance at the reception and was full of energy, on the dance floor getting people to dance even with our small wedding party of 80. DJ Guy worked with us when we found out a week before the wedding there would not be power out at our ceremony site and they improvised with us and brought a power pack to the site. They even tested the pack the week before to make sure that it would last our entire ceremony. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a DJ. They also were the only people that could remotely work in our budget, all other DJs we looked at around Denver were way out of range. read more

DJ Guy was hired for a July 2017 wedding reception. DJ's attitude and performance was sub-standard. DJ just played songs. He did nothing to get the guests involved and up and dancing while the bridal party was taking pictures. DJ kept informing bridal party about how much longer he was going to be there. Really, a clock watching DJ? How about interacting with the guests and keeping the party moving? DJ did not play requested songs or make the appropriate (and accurate) announcements. Good thing he has a day job! All specific song information, requests, etc., were provided by the bride, groom and family members well in advance of the event. DJ couldn't get any of it right. DJ kept playing (on and off) parts of a song the bride and groom had requested to be played softly during the outdoor ceremony. Seriously, a sound check during the ceremony. So unprofessional! Our wedding coordinator was sick, so we were hoping that the DJ would sort of make sure that events (first dance, bouquet toss, etc.)happened when they should, but we really had to tell him what to do and when. He was very nice and professional, though. We had also taken many hours to choose a song list, and most of our songs went unplayed. However, our guests did have a great time dancing to his song choices. Also, they tried to charge us $300 more than our contract amount, but were nice about it when I challenged them. They were an essential part of the day, going with flow of the wedding and judging the crowd so that our guests were dancing all night. I used DJ this past weekend for my wedding in Crested Butte. Originally I was excited to find someone on my wedding date since it was somewhat last minute, however now I am wishing I had looked a little longer. The planning part was nice with the online portal where you choose literally every song the DJ will play. Makes their job easy I would think. Once I showed up to the reception the DJ, Shannon, didn't even know our names. He left long awkward pauses in-between songs where there was just silence, he began to play the wrong song for my father/daughter dance and continuously pulled me away from my guests to ask me questions. The online portal lets you completely plan the whole event for THEM... so I was very irritated when I was being pulled away to get asked permission to play certain songs. I even had a wedding planner. I had an amazing wedding and I loved my vendors. However literally the ONLY vendor I regretted was the DJ. Heres a tip- have the company in advance give you the name of the DJ you will receive. Then ask her personal testimonies and reviews for that specific DJ. I wish I could go back and choose someone else because the DJ either makes or breaks the party. read more
