Clapp Danny Lawn & Landscaping

Clapp Danny Lawn & Landscaping

I lived on the low side of 9W and we had a steep hill. Danny came out and designed a beautiful…read moreboulder lay-down with new plantings and worked it to fit in our budget. He also put in a rock swale on the edge of the fence and as a result the hurricane hit in 2021 and we barely noticed. Our yard was stable and dry while neighbors on both sides were flooded and eroded. All of his staff were extremely professional and neat and there were no surprises on the costs. Everything is fully grown out and Danny has stopped by a few times to make sure everything was growing in nicely. They did the leaf cleanup for us this past season and left everything spotless. The town building inspector was impressed with how well they handled the slope. To the point of some of the other reviewers, yes, sometimes you have to wait if you want the best people but it's worth it.

Cannot say enough terrible things about this landscaping company. I found them on Rockland mommy…read morefacebook page a few people mentioned them, I should have read further, that is where I failed. From the beginning they were terrible with business care- phone calls unanswered - yes I actually received call backs from others who were booked so a call back is the least that can be done. To the down right disrespect. Danny- who was albeit knowledgeable and seemed nice enough. He showed up 20 minutes after the window he was said to be arriving, I had to confirm myself to make certain he was still in fact coming. No phone call for that either I guess they just don't take their business seriously OR they just don't need the business or my money. But don't waste my time! He mentioned our wasn't large and that the job was relatively simple a few hours or so within the next few days. I had someone with me who I had to double check with when they told me two days later, "you're new here, I know you don't understand, but us getting to you in two weeks is a gift!" I don't need a gift I need to deal with a good reputable business man and his receptionist. Who in fact do not lie. Our quote for clean up was INSANE, they apparently just did what people do when they dont need the business and quoted me an astronomical price for yard clean up and weed removal. I went with someone else for this. The grass was taken care of by them and the quote they gave me in fact did not include tax! Why would the price not be clear from the start? It seems nothing about this company was clear honest or present. I am sure people love Danny but this entire experience was far from the warm welcoming that should hav been prompted. Lastly, I own a small business and if I treated people the way I was treated by this company I would not blame clients for canceling or not showing up!. I asked them not to return after 6 lawn cuts because to be frank even those for my "small area" were sub par.

I again asked them if the estimates are free the person who answered the phone said "absolutely". Two days later someone from Timberline called to make an appointment and told me the estimate costs $200. I told him that is not what the website or the person who answered the phone said. He told me the estimate is free only if we cut down the tree. That is not what is written. How can you trust a place that has false advertisement and lies before you use them . Every other arborist I call give legitimate free estimates.

R&M Landscaping is top-notch quality, I promise. MItch Taylor, is top-notch quality, I promise…read more MItch and his crew do a magnificent job on my property/ lawn, etc.. He recently installed a magnificent Cedar Root system structure as a piece of backyard art in my yard in the Valley Cottage area. Mitch works gently with you and helps shape your vision, People park their cars and take pictures - No, they really do!!! The piece (Mitch and team installed) is truly transcendent! It glorifies the canvass that is my landscape and rests proudly on display for all to enjoy. It's EPIC! His prices are extremely reasonable and I deeply respect the company and the man and recommend all my fellow Valley Cottage residents to contract with this gentleman and experience his magic!

Worst landscaper ever, DO NOT HIRE. We hired them for a couple simple backyard projects that turned…read moreinto the most frustrating experience. They were supposed to extend our usable backyard by adding fill to the back of our property, connect our gutter drains to pipes and run it out to the back and extend our patio. 1--The problems started with the patio. First time they laid it there was such a severe pitch (11" difference from one end to the other) that it was unusable, not to mention that the pitch was in the direction of our house so all the water would've drained under our deck towards our basement. The second time they they laid it the pitch was the same but in the other direction, it wasn't squared to our house and they forgot the border. It took a THIRD time for them to get it right and my husband had to set the pitch for them! (Should not happen if you have 30 yrs landscaping experience). Then they did the fire pit area and that had to be redone as well because the circular cuts around there fire pit were so bad they looked like they were done by a kindergartener learning how to use scissors. They're still not great but we gave up. 2--when they connected our leader drains to pipes they had them jut out from the house at such a crazy angle we had to have them redo that as well. 3--they brought in a ton of fill for the back but it was loaded with construction debris and garbage (literally) and he never communicated with the guy who was supposed to push it to the back. So the guy just came and spread it out over our back yard and not towards the back where it was supposed to go. Then they brought in top soil (not sifted) and by the time we were able to talk to someone about putting the dirt where it was needed they just ended up pushing the topsoil to the back and not grading it like promised. We were left with a backyard LOADED with rocks and broken glass and a back end that dropped off short of what we talked about and so steep it's not mowable! 4--they had to build a tree well around one of the trees we wanted to save but it was so poorly done that we've since been told the tree won't survive. They put in no drainage system, no gravel and it's totally asymmetrical (2ft away from the tree on one side and like 5-6ft away from the tree on the other. It's an eyesore. OVERALL--just a disaster. I'm attaching some pictures so you can see I'm not exaggerating. Of note: in the picture of the patio, the camera is straight--that is how sloped the patio was.
