If you're looking for a band for any occasion, LOOK NO FURTHER. To me, after the vows are said, the…read moremusic is the most important element of a wedding. So when it came to picking out a band for my own wedding, it was top priority. Hip Pocket Orchestra delivered more than we could have imagined. They brought high energy and kept our guests on the dance floor all night. It truly felt like HPO was part of our family. They were very fun, personable, and easy to work with. We spoke with the lead singer a few times leading up to the wedding and they took every request of ours. All our guests raved about the band and still do. The best compliment we received was from a guest who is a professional musician. He said HPO is by far the best wedding band he's heard. They can sing many different genres and were on top of their game for every song.

We met via Zoom a few times and we found ourselves just chatting about all sorts of things. Additionally, he asked us to share some of our playlists with him and he certainly worked some of our personal music tastes into our big day! The Boston Classical Orchestra is a hidden gem in Boston…read more They have 5 concerts a season, taking place inside Faneuil Hall. There isn't a bad seat in the small auditorium, and if you arrive early, there is often a pre-concert speaker that explains the history behind the music. The musicians are extremely talented, and some play in other orchestras in town as well. When Baritone Philip Lima accompanied the group in April, he was jaw droppingly good. The acoustics of the hall helped project his powerful voice, so that you felt he was singing directly to you, no matter where you sat in the audience. I recommend attending a BSO concert. If tickets are out of your price range, they often have volunteer ushers through Boston Cares, and ushers get to stay to hear the show.

Patrons are close enough to catch the expressions on every musicians face, emoting each note. (Only the front rows can see them at Boston Symphony Hall.) Tickets can cost $50+, so, if you love classical music, Season Tickets are the way to go. Bring a friend, which was exactly how I was introduced to the BCO! THE DEAL: If it's Spring or Fall, bring a sweater. The AC in the hall can be shiver inducing.

The level of professionalism in their sound and operation was so impressive. More importantly, though, was their ability to get literally every SINGLE guest of our 160 person wedding on the dance floor ALL night. The set list was perfectly curated and their stage presence kept everyone feeling connected to the music and dancing. It was by far the highlight of our wedding and we didn't want it to end. I already know they will be getting lots of inquiries from our guests. Couldn't recommend them more!

I had the pleasure of attending Boston Circus Guild's "Reign of Revelry" for my birthday, and I was…read moreawestruck by the creativity, soul, and talent among these performers. Boston Circus Guild is not your usual circus; they offer up a whimsical story of mirth laced with mischief as they weave together scenes from our humdrum lives, but then give their own twist when housewives, bored businessmen, and even a shy girl in love transform into engaging, silly, and mesmerizing performers. "Honey I'm Home" brought us housewives in the midst of daily chores, brought to life by a mischievous clown and turned into bellydancers. "Writer's Block" followed a frustrated writer through her thought process, which took her into the air with gorgeous aerial acrobatics. "Passing Time at the Office" went from death-by-paperwork to crazy juggling antics and one very surprised boss. Of course, laced throughout the show was a brouhaha of Revelers, all lending their own manic joy to some of the acts (and helping with the seamless transition through the journey). Live music performed by Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching band brings the performances to life, and sets the tone of the circus perfectly. Spot-on timing brought another dimension to the performances. ENSMB is something to behold in their crazy, eclectic genius! "Reign of Revelry" is at the Somerville Armory next weekend as well, with shows on Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11 at 7:30 PM, with a family-friendly matinee on Saturday at 2 PM. Information is at www.bostoncircusguild.com. After enjoying such a cool show, I look forward to seeing more of Boston Circus Guild!

When Ryan wrote me back, I was shocked at how receptive he was to the prospect, vague as it was. But Ryan set me up with a tight session band, booked studio time efficiently so as not to go over my budget, and produced the record, hitting the nail on the head for the project's genre. Working with Ryan and Niki is never anything short of a blast. However psyched you are about whatever you're working on, they will match your enthusiasm and you'll see the difference in the results. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone on the fence about persuing a project like I was.
