Our event was mid-day on a weekday, which I assumed would make things easier, but the process of finding someone turned into a frustrating exercise. I called eight DJs in total. Four of them never returned my calls. Two did respond but tried to take advantage of the short timeline by quoting me outrageously high prices. One wouldn't put his pricing in a written agreement, which was a deal breaker since agreements protect both parties equally. By the time I reached the last name on my list (Joseph Delgado, also known as DJ Rival) I was almost out of patience. Looking back, I wish I had called him first because it would have saved me an enormous amount of time and stress. From the very first contact, Joseph stood apart. Within minutes of reaching out, he called me back. We spoke on the phone, exchanged a few texts and emails, and in no time he had confirmed his availability, offered a fair and reasonable price, and sent me a professional contract that clearly outlined responsibilities and expectations on both sides. The way he handled it gave me immediate confidence. The next day he followed up with more thoughtful questions, asking me to clarify exactly what I envisioned for the event so he could be sure he was preparing the right equipment and the right approach. That kind of follow-through showed me that he was serious about getting it right. In the days leading up to the event, he checked in several more times. He also asked for a copy of the event script so he would know exactly when to play music, when to keep things quiet, and when to hand the spotlight over to speakers. That level of preparation made all the difference. Every conversation reassured me that he was paying close attention to the details and wanted to be absolutely certain that nothing would be left to chance. On the day itself, he arrived two hours early. His setup wasn't simple (he had to cover multiple areas of the venue with sound) but he handled it seamlessly. He came equipped with a high-quality UHF microphone, which completely eliminated the static and interruptions you often hear with cheaper gear. Throughout the event, Joseph was a true professional. He was well dressed, blended in effortlessly with the setting, and somehow managed to be everywhere he needed to be without ever calling attention to himself. Music cues were hit perfectly. Transitions were smooth. He was attentive without being intrusive. When the event wrapped up, he packed his equipment quickly and neatly, accepted payment via Zelle (which was far more convenient than dealing with cash) and was on his way. Working with Joseph was a textbook example of professionalism from start to finish. He turned what began as a stressful scramble into one of the smoothest parts of our entire event. I've already shared his website and contact information with several people and will continue to recommend him to anyone who wants a DJ they can trust completely. We had such a great time at our wedding reception and a lot of it had to do with Joe's organization and DJ'ing. We initially chose him because of his good reviews on Yelp and he definitely lived up to the expectations. He uses online software to organize the itinerary which we found very helpful to stay on track and know what to expect next. His online software allowed us to create a playlist of up to 75 songs which I had filled up. I would guess he played 90-95% of the playlist and played songs the guests requested. My playlist did lack cumbias but Joe is very knowledgeable about music and played many songs for the Spanish-speaking side of the family. I recommend using his service and adding as many songs as you think you and your guests would enjoy. This makes it easier for Joe to play songs and keep the dance floor busy. Joe has awesome DJing skills. He mixed songs very smoothly and transitioned through different genres of music without losing the beat/rhythm. He is definitely a leader. He knows how to keep the party flowing and get the guests involved. He even got my mother to stand up and speak which I wouldn't have thought she would do since she's such a nervous person. A funny thing was on our way to the venue none of our family members were answering our calls so we tried Joe and he answered! Our night went according to plan and we received so many compliments from our guests. I think even a few of our guests got Joe's card for future parties! They even took pictures with him like a celebrity! Low key he even gave me and my wife one of the best advices of the night "Keep the Lord at the center of your marriage" Amen!
