Since my first review of SBS, I've participated in 2 Fit Leagues, the 90's themed "Saved by the…read moreBoat" cruise, and am currently in a Softball League. I've had a great time at SBS leagues and events, and highly recommend them! The Fit League is basically a boot camp while competing against other teams of people for who's fitness level improves the most. The sessions I attended for that were both at Boston Athletic Club and the trainers were great - motivating & pushing your work out, but not at the expense of anyone getting hurt. My teammates were really friendly, and you could often find us relaxing at the bar in the gym after a workout. (SBS is serious about the "social" part of it's name.) The Saved by the Boat cruise was a 3 hour "booze cruise" type event in Boston Harbor. I enjoyed the music, but was sad the DJ didn't play my requests for MMMBop by Hanson or the Marcarana. I'm not a big drinker, so I wish the bar lines weren't so long that they stretched onto the dance floor. The Softball League I'm in plays Tuesday nights at Teddy Ebersol's Fields (off of Storrow Drive) in Boston. It's my 1st time playing softball, so I worried the team would be too competitive for me. That couldn't be farther from the truth. Everyone is very friendly & welcoming. The "veterans" give helpful tips on batting, but don't get mad at anyone who strikes out. While on the bench, the team stays very engaged - cheering for our players batting or making a fielding play. The games are such fun nights out that I'm planning on joining another SBS league when this one is over. If you're looking for a fun way to get out and meet new people, come to an SBS event or join one of their leagues. You will be pleasantly surprised by how welcoming other participants & SBS staff will be.

Now they are profiting off of my cancellation because they have my money and are still able to sell my spot to somewhat else before the league starts.

One of my friends recommend I join. He has been telling me to join for more than a year and I…read morefinally had the time to make it work - I signed up for volleyball. I've been having so much fun. Going out after each game with my teammates is great. I've also gotten to know players of other team. I'm looking forward to other events that S3 is offering and next season. I know once softball comes back around I will be signing up for that, too. I also want to mention that communication with Jess has been amazing. She is very responsive to questions and concerns. Even in the beginning she made sure we all knew what was going on before games started for the season.

I signed up for the Softball league beginning April 23 2023 on Tuesdays after attending a social…read moreevent, where I got the opportunity to meet a couple of other folks who were interested. Despite registering on time and paying the full amount (referral coupon s3friends did not work), I was not added to the mailing list and not assigned any team, and had no direction on where/how to proceed. I tried calling the numbers listed on the Facebook/Instagram pages for further information, but the calls never went through. I then reached out via email following the first week of play, but received no response. Finally, I reached out to the phone number (listed as s3 leagues corp.) on my payment receipt only to get an irritated response from the organizer asking me not to contact her on her personal cell phone. Repeated follow ups produced delayed and shallow email responses. After this entire ordeal, I was not added to the mailing list and was not notified of the cancellation during the rain out last week. I finally got fed up of such inconsideration and asked for a refund, to which I received no response. Last I checked, I have been blocked from the Instagram page for following up on the matter. This has been a terrible experience for me because at one point, I was eager to join this league and meet new people and make friends in the same manner that I did in the social meetup prior. The organizer of this group, Jessica, has proven to be incompetent, inconsiderate and disrespectful, and I would certainly not have even thought about joining this group had I known that she was the one behind the scenes.

The gym we played in is scheduled to be demolished at the end of this year. The school we ayes at…read moreis called the king school located at 815 Cambridge st. The gym floor is used recreationally throughout the day by elementary school children for their gym class. Each side of the court has completely different rims (one is double rimmed and one is not)....the floor is also completely warn and don't allow for quick stop and go play....this gym simply benefits the team that hits the most jump shots. It's equally as hard to drive as it is to defend against it; again, because of how slippery the floor is. Post game write ups and stats are inconsistent, inaccurate, and often times delayed for all leagues but the top one. Don't expect anything impressive/on time. Post season play is rushed to allow time for the upcoming spring/summer session. This resulted in almost non existent updates for existing leagues. In terms of timing of games...playoffs were planned on an adhoc, on the go basis to accommodate those who run the league. This league is not worth the money unless you are in the most competitive league. The guys who run this league clearly don't consider the fact that we all pay the same amount to be a part of the CACbasketball league and expect to be treated like it. My advice for anyone who chooses to play in this league -Go in with low expectations and understand going into it that you are overpaying for an under delivered service offering.

The infamous Bfab and Tibbs do a great job posting every players stats, game lines, previews, game summaries, and orchestrate All-Star games at the end of the season. It's those little things that make crappy basketball players like me feel like they still have something and keep coming back.
