I am not super into sweet drinks and don't drink caffeine, so I don't seek out fun beverages often and am SO happy I discovered this spot! Their menu pretty clearly shows what has caffeine and what does not, which is helpful. I got the Taro Milk Tea and loved it! Of course added the tapioca boba, which was extra but they were generous with the amount. I got 50% sugar and it was just right- love that you can customize ice and sugar. The most recent time I went, I was able to order online while I was on my way and it was ready when I got there. This is such a fun treat and so easy to swing by and grab! I tried the mango green tea and the tea was great but a bit on the sweeter side even after adjusting the sweetness to 50%. The service was great and the server helped me with suggestion of the flavor with mango and the suggestion was passion fruit was great. It is a cute little place around the corner. I got the Harmony's Lava Lamp and the White Peach Oolong Milk Tea. I asked for 50% sugar in the Lava Lamp, and I think it was still too sweet T_T the White Peach Oolong Milk Tea was PERFECT. The boba is the right texture of firm and soft (i believe the Taiwanese call this QQ but i don't feel confident saying that myself, since I'm not Taiwanese), and it perfectly soaked up the honey sweetness. The cup is a sturdy kind of plastic. There's quality everywhere even in the smallest parts of the product and the space, and it's fun with all the fun names of the drinks. Plenty of flavors to choose from! I usually opt for a sweet, fruity flavor like lychee or strawberry. So I was very excited to see they had a strawberry lychee fruit tea! I never leave reviews but this place has major room for improvement and visits here never seem to get better. First, the female worker who always seems to be working there has a major attitude problem. She always seems bothered and annoyed when serving you and does not create a welcoming environment at all. Second, the same drinks with same adjustments always taste different, like she doesn't follow an exact recipe. Lastly, the amount of boba this place puts is ridiculous. My friends and I always love trying new boba places and have tried boba from so many businesses, but this place puts less than 50% of the amount of boba ANY other boba place has put. Charging for boba when they barely put any is upsetting. They need better-trained staff who actually show good customer service and staff who don't seem like they don't even want to be there, more boba in their drinks as the current amount is a ripoff, and to make drinks consistently. read more

There are some amazing milk tea places in Seattle, and DIY Tea Lab is on par with them. Nothing special jumped out at me about the drinks, but they were solid. I got one milk tea, the Thai tea, and one fruit smoothie, the lychee smoothie. One thing I appreciated was that the sweetness level was adjustable. It was also not too strong - at some tea places, even 25% sweetness is an overwhelming amount of sugar, but that was not at all the case here. The staff were very friendly, and I got my drinks within about five minutes of ordering. Just visited today to try their drinks and I'm surprised by some of the other reviews! Service was super friendly and the peach oolong milk tea I got was really good! At 50% sweet and light ice, I really thought it was a nice twist on standard black milk tea, which is my usual drink of choice. That's saying a lot because I'm pretty picky about my milk teas and I don't like drinks that taste artificial or too floral. So this was a great base milk tea with that hint of peach. We both asked for less ice and the guy filled the cup to the top with ice. Not even kidding. What the heck. Tea flavor was so weak. I could see him adding different amounts of sweetener despite us both asking for 25 percent sweetness so one of them was way sweeter. Can they at least pretend to measure? The ube sea salt foam just sits on top and doesn't mix in well into the drink. Given how slow business is, I wonder about how fresh everything is...ie how old is this dairy foam. Can I get a refund? There is a lot to improve. 1. There is 2 ways to make an order (physically). Use terminal or order from girl behind it. But there is just 1 queue. It could be optimized by separating queue to the girl and queue to the terminal. 2. Use English as a main language. All drinks have hieroglyphs as names with big font and names in English with small font. So you can read only once you approach the terminal. 3. There are 4 people who work on getting the drink done. They are fast, but it looks like they are interfere with each other. Drink is 5 stars, while service should be improved. Hope next time I return, it would be better! read more

This is the first time I been to this location but it still as good as the other locations. One downside though: -only 1 employee working so the wait can be a while I got the pineapple smoothie but with a bunch of toppings and they were able to accommodate :) I like that they use real pineapple chunks in the smoothie and it wasn't too sweet. For toppings, I got the crystal boba, grass jelly, rainbow jelly, pudding, and lychee jelly. They didn't equally put the toppings in but and not all was fresh but it still satisfied my craving. DIY tea lab is one of our favorite boba shops. They have a large variety of drinks and they feature desserts bubble waffle! They also have savory snacks like spam musubi and popcorn chicken. My all time favorite drink is the white peach oolong milk tea, 25% sweet with crystal boba. I've gotten this drink with regular boba as well, it's still good, just a little sweeter. My husband loves his standard ruby black tea with boba, 50% sweet. The tea flavor is really strong in the Ruby, which he loves! In the past we have also gotten lychee green tea, taro lover milk tea, thai ice, and the sea salt ube. I've tried a few of their sparkling drink series during the summer time as well, it very refreshing & bubbly. The bubble waffle, its curved and a little more crispy than other bubble waffle varieties, I do wish it was a tad bit softer and more chewy inside. Overall, we love DIY tea lab, they are pretty consistent amongst their different locations and we love to visit them whenever we can! read more

I'm giving this biz 2 stars simple because they kept messing up with the orders. We ordered brown sugar milk tea for pick up, instead we got classic milk tea. I ordered through door dash too, paid for two milk tea, arrived only 1. Clarified to the dasher as well, and the mistake clearly not on their end. The texture was alright but the flavor just seemed fake. The brown sugar milk drink was straight up really bad (and possibly not enough) brown sugar flavoring and so it just tasted like milk. I ordered chicken karaage which was pictured with sauce but they insisted to not giving me the sauce, saying that the picture was only for marketing, and sauce should be purchased with additional cost. We frequent this place often for their Bubble waffles. Today, 12/4 at around 2pm Hubby purchased 3 pandan waffles. My 4 year old daughter started eating hers in the car and I started eating mine when they got home. First few bites, the pandan tasted sour. I took a bite from the other 2 waffles and they too tasted sour. 10 min later I was running to the bathroom. My friend and I went on the grand opening day and the line was quite long since we were one of the first 50 people. The line moved quickly and the girl taking the order was really friendly and patient. The also didn't have to wait very long for our drinks. There is a large menu outside on the window with a QR code so you can browse through the menu on your phone. I like how there is a description of what each drink consists of. The online menu contains more drink options. I think the drinks on the window menu are just their popular drinks. The drinks are customizable. Many drinks have whole milk, but I heard the girl in front of us ask for a non-dairy milk substitute and they had oat milk (they might also have other non-dairy milk options if you ask). They ask you for the sweetness level and amount of ice you want. Most importantly, the drinks are really good. Everything tasted fresh and flavourful. The boba was really chewy like it should be. They have sea salt ube creama as one of the topping options so I'll be trying that next time! read more

When I went in the other day I was greeted by a worker who just stared and me while I ordered and didn't say a word. I ordered the pandan bubble waffle and the strawberry fresh milk drink. While the bubble waffle was great, the drink was a little off. At the time, I thought that the sourness was from the strawberries, but the next morning I found myself extremely sick. It turns out that the drink was most likely made with expired milk and the sourness came from that. I tried to call the location to at least warn them to check the milk's expiration date, but I was once again greeted with horrible customer service. Someone picked up the phone and immediately told me "No English, sorry. Have a nice day" and hung up on me. While I am understanding of language differences making things a bit harder, hanging up the phone on customers suddenly is a huge no from me. It is extremely unfortunate that this location has become like this. When it first opened, the food and drinks were amazing and the location was relaxing. I hope others do not face the same issues I had and that whoever is working this location at least checks their ingredients more often. read more

I went there for the first time in many months. Giving them another try after previous bad experience being milk tea not having very strong tea. I am again disappointed because after expressing that we cannot tolerate milk very well and ask for possible milk substitute (which they have none), I walked away with a drink that only contains MILK!!!
