Really good Southern Hospitality (plus one star), obvious political views right at the welcome chalkboard. I can always do without that, whether or not we agree. Busy. Fairly hoppin'. Clean, bright, friendly, Trucker music. Old country and the like. Service: Friendly if not super attentive. The kind of place where they tell you loudly that, "I'll bring a refill right over," and you might expect that they'll know whether you're "Honey," "Darlin'," "Sugar," or "Sweetie." Lovin the 50s diner theme, lots of work put in gathering the Coke & 50s memorabilia! The Skillets are amazing, great pepper sausage in the gravey, fluffy biscuits! The pancakes are a sweet delight! This place is cute as all get out!!! However, the person preparing the meals seemed to have not been able find gloves to wear or a hairnet. Witnessed her wiping her hands on her very unclean pants, pulling biscuits out of a container bare handed and shoveling them on top of other food. There was no hand washing done and many lesions noted on her bare arms. Yes, we understand these were more than likely not contagious issues however, coupled with health code violations that were witnessed it wasn't a place we wanted to stay at to try to eat food prepared by this person. Stopped here on the way north (exit 135 off I-24, back from the road behind the gas station). Our high-energy server/manager Beth and was very customer focused. Hubby had the bacon cheese burger, I had the smothered chicken minus onions and both were quite tasty, along with the fries and coleslaw. EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! We Just happened to find this little gem open on a Sunday!! on our way back from a long weekend of camping. The food was spot on so much like my grandmas when growing up! and exactly like I ordered it. The service was phenomenal and when I say that I mean that it couldn't have been any better. We stopped for gas on our way to Gatlinburg and I saw this little hole in the wall that just looked like a small truck stop diner, but it was much more than that! The service was fantastic and fast! Half rack BBQ Ribs, Coleslaw, Onion Rings, and Dinner Roll. Ribs were very meaty and fall off the bone delicious. Onion Rings we're crispy, large, and plentiful. Husband had the Brisket Sandwich which includes bacon, brisket, and pulled pork with their own BBQ sauce (slightly tangy, mildly sweet). The sandwich came on Texas Toast and was delish.
