Ham and cheese croissants! Either side are long johns they can top, I think.

New owners? Different decor and the ancient hanging sign with all the prices is gone. Without the sign it is harder to know what is typically on offer or what you'll be paying. With only two display trays in the front at 8:55 am, we had a limited idea of what's on offer. My ham and cheese croissant was small, but still had nice toasty edges after she reheated it in the microwave and we took a five-minute drive to the train station. It was a notable option when I'd been expecting only doughnuts. Five star service--sweet young woman pulled a tray from the cooling rack for Mr R to choose a maple and a chocolate doughnut. Frosting was still gooey! He was delighted. And the price? I paid under six bucks at the register for his doughnuts and coffee, my milk and a ham and cheese croissant. Pleasantly surprised!

Sorry, I couldn't wait for the picture. The glaze is to die for. All of these are homemade and hand cut. You can definitely tell

Rarely do I ever give 5 stars. Went here on a limb..(I'm a Shipleys loyal customer since I was 5) and I was greeted immediately, I got asked if I ever dined with them previously. For high school kids, they loaded me up with history. I even got a free glaze donut to try and compare to my Shipleys donuts. Try them. You won't disappoint. Best donuts ever.

Not only are their donuts the best in town, but easily the biggest. And cheap too. Haven't been in a while, and was greeted by Ruben, who I'm guessing to be the owner. He explained that they use only potato flower folded by hand, not a mixer in the building, to best preserve the glutens. I love a bit of science with a good sweet. Also said they were under new management, and would be expanding their hours and menu after a grand reopening in November. Sold.

They're different than regular donuts (they use potato flour), but so good.

I stopped at Dos Gatos for coffee and also picked up a few sweet treats for later (wink, wink!) Dos Gatos, which I believe means two cats, is a shop for "on the go" folks...no inside seating and small space. The shop focuses on fast service, and fresh baked goods, with kolaches baked daily. Dos Gatos has a variety of items such as sweet kolaches with traditional fillings like apricot, poppy seed, strawberry, raspberry, and cream cheese. They have savory kolaches such as sausage and cheese, jalapeño sausage, chorizo, ham and cheddar, and vegetarian sausage options. The turkey sausage kolache was the standout...sometimes called a pig in the blanket. One downside of the sweet kolaches is they are rather small. I forget how small they were until my hubby mentioned also. A surprise bonus was their full espresso bar, which includes lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, chai, cold brew, etc. Pricing was at the low end of the spectrum. I purchased coffee, sweet and savory kolaches.

Just in case your favorite is still baking or sold out before you got here. Got my heart's desire of a cherry kolache and a ham and swiss for breakfast. Mr R selected a lone vegetarian sausage with cheese and jalapeño and we sat in happy silence consuming warm plates of joy. Breakfast for two adults $15
