A hidden gem! We saw some good reviews on Dixie Belle's, and we had to see if it was as good as people said. It did not disappoint! Upon entry, it gave very much a southern kitchen vibe, and we picked our booth to sit at. We liked that there were ads for local businesses on the tables, it provided a sense of community. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful in navigating us through the menu. After a recommendation from our lovely waitress, I ordered the Barnyard King with tater tots, and the portion size was HUGE! I'm a sucker for biscuits and gravy, and theirs was one for the books. I loved the thickness of their gravy, and how they poured a good amount over the biscuits. My boyfriend ordered the Dixie Slam and was happy that his meal hit all aspects of a well-rounded breakfast. Love the local feel instead of the all to common tourist traps around town. Lots of menu options, reasonable prices and friendly service. This place has slowly went down hill. Today was rock bottom for me and the last time I will come. I have a severe egg allergy the special they were having came with eggs. Refused to substitute and wanted me to just not take the eggs (with no discount) or charge me to change to toast or hashbrowns Got mad when I said no put them on a side plate. This is why your parking lot gets less full every week. Toast or hashbrowns don't cost more than two eggs for you to plate. read more

After a recent trip to Orlando, I fired up Yelp and found this spot for breakfast. This no frill southern inspired diner was full of tasty delights. The best biscuits and gravy ever!!! light, fluffy, butter biscuits and the most perfect white gravy with two eggs over easy on top! HEAVEN! I've been to this restaurant easily over a dozen times in the past but, after my most recent visit this week I decided the time had come to tell the world about this wonderful gem of an establishment in South Orlando. The restaurant exudes Southern down home charm to the nth degree. Upon entering, you can't help but notice the hand crafted quilts which adorn the walls of the restaurant. The wood paneling and booths add to the feeling you're visiting grandma's house...if grandma was also great at serving some of the best darn food south of the Mason-Dixon Line. That being said they're known for their Sweet Potato Biscuits however, I did not indulge on this particular outing. I went for their Morning Combo of Smoked Sausage, Scrambled Eggs, Home Fries, and Wheat Toast. Be prepared for large portions of tasty and delicious food items no matter what you order. I always love the option to sit indoor or outdoor. Upon entering, we were immediated seated. The staff are friendly and everyone works together very well. You can see they are very efficient. We tried the French toast. It was your basic French toast. The sweet potato biscuit is very dense. It needs some syrup or honey for flavor. We also had the country platter. Pulled up and parking log was full which is usually a good sign. Walked in got a military feel from the place and was seated right away. Though the place was busy it was well staffed and Waitress brought us drinks/ menu's right away . We got the basics as far as breakfast goes.. they had the food out right away prepared as we had asked and tasted good. Dixie Belle has been an Orlando staple for years and I had the opportunity to finally try it for the first time this past week. Now Dixie Belle is nestled right along Orange Ave, and if you blink you might just drive past it. The restaurant itself is very spacious with seating indoor and out. The decor seems very old school but in a good way.. the way that I would want my diners to look... instead of all the frills and thrills you'd see now a days with all the new age brunch spots. The food itself was very tasty. We got the eggs Benedict and the Cobb salad. Both were a generous portion for the price! I was actually very impressed by the Cobb salad especially... since usually when you get a salad at a place like a diner... the quality just isn't as fresh but I throughly enjoyed the one I had. As I left, the friendly staff encouraged me to come back for one of the nights they serve dinner and talked up the fried chicken. So on my next trip, I stopped in for chicken dinner! It was also a treat. Crispy, juicy, just like the country fried chicken I grew up with on the family farms. As good as it was, I have to give a shout out to the Lima Beans! Yes, that's what I said! So I don't get the hype of this place. When you drive up you think this is going to fantastic! There's a line, hole in the wall vibe, and diner like atmosphere. But the food is just mid. Basic scramble with packaged Hormel pre-diced ham (come on bake your own ham and dice it up) and their 'famous' biscuits and gravy the sausage gravy tastes like a mix, or worse, out of can. The line was out the door on a Sunday morning, so we knew this place was going to be good. Thankfully we got two seats at the bar, because it would have easily been a 30 minute wait for a table.
