Went in twice since they moved to the new smaller location. Won't be a third time. Both times I was looking for something specific. First time was an accessory (travel bag) and new shoes, and the second was a new hybrid club. The first time I was given the "we don't have a big selection of those because we focus on club fitting" speech. OK, kinda short-sighted for "golf store" but whatever. I heard the same thing told to two others who came in looking for this or that. Second time I went in I was looking to pick up the hybrid after looking for some advice, maybe even custom order one if possible because I'm taller than most. I began browsing the limited selection. Two other guys in there and they started asking one of the staff about this club or that club. The staffer had little info to provide. Then they asked if they could try one they apparently liked in one of the fitting bays. Nobody else in the store, mind you, except me. The staffer was extremely reluctant to let them hit a couple. He gave the "we really focus on custom fitting" speech but let them hit a few. Staffer never went back to see if they liked it or wanted to buy. No selling or seeing what they did or didn't like. Nothing. They eventually walked out. I'm still there looking at clubs. Haven't been approached by either of the two staffers on duty. Clearly interested in picking something up but also probably need a little advice. Been there 15 minutes at that point. Decided to let this play out. 25 minutes rolls around and a couple of people walk in. A woman wants an accessory for her husband as a gift. Got "we don't have a big selection of those. We focus on custom club fitting" speech. I don't remember what she settle for but I do remember the staffer just kind of looking at her and saying, basically that's all we have. No real help at all. The other people/person left in disgust after finding nothing. Meanwhile, I'm still there looking at clubs. I heard all about which clubs they were going to trade in with the stores new trade in policy and which clubs they were going to buy because they were having a great conversation between the two of them while I was there. I heard about their personal lives and the courses they liked. I heard about the players they didn't like on the tournament that was playing on tv. Never once did they address me or approach me. After about 35 minutes or so I gave up. As I literally stepped out the door, one of them says, "if you have any questions just let us know". Yeah, I got a question. How do you justify being paid by your employer? Better question. Unless you want to have a customized fitting, why would anyone ever shop here? Not sure they would even do the custom fitting well since they don't seem to have staff who can do the basics. As a parting shot, I went to Spokane recently for a few things and stopped at Golf World or World Golf or some such named store. I walked in to a well appointed store, was greeted as I walked in and asked if I need help with anything. Was given advice. Was allowed to hit a couple of suggestions before we started any talk about the need to custom order. Found one. Spent around $300 and was done in about 20 minutes. That's called SERVICE and SALESMANSHIP, just in cast Golf Universe is confused.

4-Star customer service rating. My rating is NOT based on…read morethe course terrain in comparison with other courses in the TriCities. I play most of the courses in the TriCities. I play Buckskin as part of a church group shotgun start during the Spring. This group caters to every type of player from beginner to long timer. Every time I arrive at Buckskin the owner is personable, quick to please, and full of life. He knows his niche and is extremely generous and helpful. If customer service is your measuring stick you can't go wrong at Buckskin. It is a very small, arid course. Sprinklers are running 24/7 and sometimes you have to get creative off the tees. There's not a lot of fairway green to play from so precision hitting is best. And even the fairway has a number of rough patches. But the grass has improved from 2006-2016. The greens are slow and thick, more like the fringe on other courses. So that means they are actually more challenging. Just remember to lighten up when you head off to another course. Carts are "beasts" but always seem to run. All in all, if you know what to expect, you can have a decent run at Buckskin and it's especially nice for beginners. Be prepared to move you're ball around some holes and dirt from time to time. Beyond all that terrain though, you will find a genuine mom-n-pop feel and a gregarious serving attitude.

Not everyone does but it's worth a try. I have had a few times in a twosome that I have been stuck behind a foursome right off the 1st tee. Not ideal. The cafe is solid and the ladies are nice. Been more than once that they didn't have a dog ready to order. I guess it could be worse. My only concern to note is that I have ran into golfers who have poor etiquette which slows down play, no Marshal on course. Sometimes these golfers don't know to let you play through. Something a Marshal could handle pretty easily. Prices are very competitive though. Twilight hour prices you can't beat. I will be back.

Every time I have been there this year the round has lasted well over 4 hours (4 hours and 50 minutes today). The course gets backed up often, and the course does not enforce a quick pace of play. We had to tee off 5 minutes after our tee time, and eventually called the club house to have a Marshall find which group is holding everybody up because it took an hour to play the first three holes. The club house then told me that they don't have a Marshall and we should just ask the group ahead of us to let us play through, which doesn't really matter if they're also being held up. The course is also wedged between a highway and an airport, so if you're looking for a quick and relaxing day of golf, you won't find it here.
