Nice location and vibe going on and ample off street parking on Central Ave. but there are definitely a few kinks to work out. First is you can never actually speak with a person about any services--every conversation or booking goes thru a text message--very impersonal. I arrived a little early for my dermabrasion appt. and there was absolutely no one around! There was an unmanned juice bar and what looked to be a reception desk? There were nice products for sale and some not marked so even if you wanted to purchase them you couldn't. I really enjoyed my service with Natalia--she did an awesome job. I've already texted about bundling a pkg. for more dermabrasion's and have yet to hear back. Just not an effective way to run multiple services.

Review #840 2025-012…read more I was rear ended in 11/2024 before Thanksgiving & went to P/T when my therapist suggested acupuncture &/or massage therapy to advance my recovery: right shoulder, neck, & back. I tried massage once more than a decade ago, but I have personal space issues besides being very ticklish. I searched awhile trying to find the "right" type of massage therapy, & came upon Gettys Muscle Therapy. I wasn't able speak with Lyssa because she's an independent contractor at Amie House, but she did reply by text with enough info that I felt comfortable to schedule an appointment 1-month out. She's busy either because of her limited schedule: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (M, T, Th), 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM (W, F) or she's THAT good. Established in 2010, Lyssa is a board-certified CA massage therapist providing therapy for rehabilitative care (not like the spa-associated massages?) at Amie House, a reimagined holistic center of independent wellness professionals. The 1st appointment is 90-mins.: 30 for pre/post assessment based on your intake/application form + 60 for massage. A detailed intake form ensures a full massage session, other it'll be shorten to clarify your needs/goals; thereafter, sessions are 30, 60, 90 mins. with Pay Later option of 4 installments (not sure if there's surcharges for this payment plan). Lyssa is thorough with asking questions that will assist her in your treatment, & discusses post-treatment observations & changes between appointments to guide her approach for a more impactful session. She's methodical in working on & around the tender areas, stretching & maneuvering for better range/flexibility. Her technique is different from another masseuse who uses more & constant pressure. At Gettys Muscle Therapy, treatment shouldn't be "no pain, no gain" instead it's detailed pressure with some discomfort of a "good sore." Followed by consistent homework on post assessment tips to maintain the progress made. Due to the cold weather, any minute progress made with PT & massage therapy is 1-step forward, 10-steps back; now weather is slightly warmer, & have increased the PT intensity & additional HW (from 1 set daily to 3 sets) & infrequent massage therapy, I've regained a lot of mobility & working on the back & building strength. On my 2nd session, Lyssa suggested I come in earlier to supplement with Dry Float Therapy, aka Zero Gravity Therapy. It's meant to be a relaxing experience that simulates weightlessness without getting wet. It involves lying on a special floatation bed that uses a dry membrane & is designed to minimize outside senses & feelings to help relieve stress & physical pain. However, this wasn't for me... triggering claustrophobia, anxiety, & nausea that remained with me for the whole day into the next day. I was barely in the bed (less than a min.?)... lying flat, which I'm incapable of doing (need to be raised a few degrees upward), & it felt tight like you're in a coffin but more snug. After getting my bearings, my massage wasn't therapeutic with my focus on breathing through the normally tolerable discomfort & trying not to get sick on the bed. This complementary add-on is $35 at a 30% discount for 30-mins. & $80 regular price for 60-mins. I'm not consistent with her post assessment tips (HW), but these complementary massage sessions along with PT has helped in my recovery. If you're looking for clinical massage therapy, look no further than Gettys Muscle Therapy. Keep in mind that it's challenging to secure short-term appointments because she is THAT good.

EXCELLENT DOCTOR, STAFF, TREATMENT, AND MASSAGE THERAPIST…read more WAS SUCCESSFUL IN BRINGING ME BACK TO LIFE! lol It took me a good while to finally jump on Yelp and share my humble opinion, not because I forgot to do so or because I forgot how I was treated... NO! It was because, after being treated by Dr. Nick, I was able to get back to my busy life and keep moving forward. Not only did Dr. Nick listen to my concerns, but he also identified and treated the exact areas that needed attention. He was successful in helping me feel better and get back to doing what I needed to do. At the time, I was studying for the LSAT, which meant long days and even longer nights of studying. My neck and back became extremely stiff and tense. As a mom, paralegal, law student, notary public, and children's teacher at my church, I always have a lot going on! After my treatment with Dr. Nick, I was able to continue working, studying, and keeping up with my many responsibilities. I am truly grateful. Thank you to God, Dr. Nick, and massage therapist Sandra for helping me get back to doing what I love and what I need to do.

The decompression machine has made a huge difference in relieving the pressure in my lower back. Nick is an excellent chiropractor who really listens and takes his time with you. Sam, the trainer, is extremely knowledgeable and has helped me rebuild strength and mobility. Sandra gives some of the best massages I've ever had--she's also incredibly kind and calming. I'm a physician and was a client of Jan's for 6 years because of chronic pain and debility from…read morehemophilia, wherein he helped me, but the last year of being his client became extremely troublesome. I started practicing tai chi because his and other interventions including osteopathy, PRP, physical therapy stopped helping. Miraculously, the tai chi I found began to heal me. Jan told me though that his treatments would help me integrate my tai chi training more deeply so I should continue to see him. Jan and I were both overjoyed and because Jan is older and has had many health issues of his own, I offered to teach him tai chi in the way I was learning it. While Jan benefited greatly from the couple of lessons I gave him, I sensed that our dynamic changed. Indeed, his treatments stopped helping me and made my body feel weird. Jan started to become very defensive about his work, his understanding of tai chi, his understanding of Taoism, and he told me was no longer interested in learning tai chi. Then in late March, after Jan was pulling away from me, I got a treatment from him and during the treatment something popped in my left hip, and my athletic ability and structural integrity fell apart. I complained to him and he gave me an exercise that further exacerbated my decline. At first, Jan vehemently denied he or the exercise could have injured me, and I accepted this. But 3 months later, after my body was ridden with pain in ways that were new, and I could no longer exercise because my pain was too great, I sought a consultation from a colleague of his. The treatment from his colleague radically fixed me and when I reported this to Jan, he accepted that he might have injured me, but the damage was already done. My impression is that Jan has a huge ego about his ability and does not want to admit his limits and insodoing would rather hurt his clients than his own ideas about his abilities. Because I am not going to give up on myself, I am finally getting back to the ability that I had pre-injury though my body and trust in him or manual medicine may never heal fully. I'm planning to report my experience with him to the Rolfing board and the state licensing authority. I learned only later that the exercise he gave me was not even something he himself devised, but his ex-wife. Jan does have skill and ability, but less than he believes and this difference is what led to me being injured. If Jan had admitted that he could have injured me back in March earlier, I would have sought help earlier and saved myself from pain and suffering many months ago.
