Shipley's donuts was better. Divine donut is a little chewy, first time I have donut in this kind of texture, maybe something with flour that is different than everybody else. Kolache is not supposed to be fried. That's such a lazy way of making kolache and ruin them. read more

Bravo. Highly recommend. We ended up here on accident. This place is attached to the gas station and the bathrooms at the gas station were closed. Well, what's a guy to do?? I wandered into a dive donut shop and low and behold, the heavenly scent of sweetness caught my attention. I was preparing to order some donuts and noticed the hot tamales. Curious, I ordered six. Oh my, these were the best tamales I've ever eaten. My daughter ordered a strawberry filled donut and loved it. We'll be stopping by on our trip back to Florida. read more

Wow. I don't know if all donuts have this same kind of texture but I'm really loving the donuts here. I had the glazed donuts while it was still warm. The donuts here remind me of the Chinese donuts we have back home in California when we eat porridge. Everything in Mississippi have been impressive. But with that said, I will have to get a lab work done to check my blood sugar and cholesterol. Expect to splurge and forget about any diets if you're traveling and visiting. I am fortunate that I'm volunteering at a clinic with employees who love to bring food to share. Very happy I got to try Southern donuts and Divine Donuts were great! read more

This place is not a looker from the street to be honest, but give them a try all the same. Hot, fresh, delicious, are the words I'd use to describe the tamales. I ordered a dozen and would again if I ever make it back to Vicksburg. In addition I also order two doughnuts; they were fantastic, fresh and pillowy. Everything a doughnut should be. These donuts were DELICIOUS but those TAMALES were AWESOME. I hadn't visited since they were Shipley's donuts (which was my fav). I'd been meaning to check them out every time I visit the area, but just got the opportunity this morning. I'm so glad that I did. I've been on a quest to find great tamales comparable to ones I had during my childhood. These came pretty darn close...so well seasoned and delicious. I mean, who eats tamales at 5 am..obviously me today..they're that good. I was able to get a cinnamon roll and donut (for my husband and kid), freshly made. I did steal a bite and almost went back in to get some for myself. They were soft, pillowy and tasty. I'll definitely be going back on my next trip to Vicksburg. Made a stop here while traveling through Vicksburg. We got a cinnamon roll and a sausage, jalapeno, and cheese kolache. The cinnamon roll could have used a bit more cinnamon flavor, but it was good. On our 3500-mile trip west, I stopped at three other places to try sausage, jalapeno, and cheese kolaches and all were good, but this one was the best -- and the spiciest. It'll wake you up. Once, at a dinner party for an award I did not win (I was a runner-up) I inadvertently drank half a bottle of a $700 wine. It wasn't an issue or anything; I believe our host was trying to empty his father's cellar, but it had an effect on me. In that it ruined me for all wine after that. Presuming I can never again get this $700 wine, which seems likely. As I was eating a cream filled doughnut from Divine, making little moaning sounds along the way, I was actually thinking about this wine and then about my beloved Kreme filled doughnuts from Krispy Kreme, and how I will never truly love them again. Super good! I was thinking 4 Star, but family voted 3. I liked the slight crunch they had on the outer part; very unique. Decent selection, the staples plus some more exotic in the Do-Nut world. Should be enjoyed with their coffee. Enjoy! read more

Wow! These donuts live up to their name. I try to reserve 5 star rating for only the best-of-the-best (places that I desperately want to visit again, not just places that were "really good"). Divine Donuts definitely fits the criteria! We were visiting Vicksburg for a couple of days and we drove past Divine Donuts several times as we traveled from our hotel to the historic downtown. The morning that we left I decided I needed to check this place out, and I am so happy that I did. These donuts were some of the best I have ever had. They were the perfect consistency: firm enough, but still so incredibly soft. The icing was delicious. The chocolate filling was different than anything I have had before, but still amazing. It lacked that "fake" or "processed" taste that a lot of fillings have. The woman at the counter looked like she had been up working all night, yet somehow was still able to be insanely pleasant and friendly. She could teach many people in the service lesson a thing or two. Vicksburg itself was a pleasant surprise for us, and we will definitely be back.
