Jack is also an effective communicator in that he has the innate ability to explain the nuances of equipment, diving science, amd how they apply to you. Susan and Rachel are always eager to help in anyway they can, and have been instrumental in helping me choose gear. When I first walked in, very unfamiliar and new to diving, they made me feel welcomed, not becuase they wanted my money and were trying to make a sale, but they honestly want to be a part of making me a more successful diver. Nick has been awesome as well really helping me to feel at home and sharing some of his experience to help me overcome some of the challenges of becoming certified. Great group of folks, please go see them!

Diver's Supply is a family owned down to earth shop. Good balance of great service and low cost. Their dive trips are in the hundreds of dollars not thousands. They are a bit sleepy, but friendly and remember their returned customers. They do have high turn over but the culture remains great. I've gone to other shops but always return to Diver's Supply. If you want to check out gear or just refresh your dive experience, they are pretty liberal on letting you used their pool--though the pool cover is tattered and falling to pieces. They have shops in Macon GA and Jacksonville FL, and one in Marietta, GA. If you are thinking about getting a diver Cert....here you go.

We were so impressed with our scuba cert program through SpringAdventures!…read more Honestly, when we hit the targeted ads, we were a little dubious because of some of the web design choices, and how low the prices were. SO GLAD we took a chance. It's a one-man operation, and he's incredible. His prices are all in, and he really does knock it out in just 2 days with great flexible local dives near the High Springs area. If you have a special request, just call him - he was able to add our NitrOx cert as well on the fly. I was blown away watching this man transition from charismatic comedy, making learning fun but still hitting all the key points, right into suddenly supportive teacher mode when we were in the practical portions and he was helping a student who was struggling, using a disarming compassionate demeanor. At least in our session, class sizes were very small, and he not only equipped us mentally for our scuba expeditions, but he gave us incredible insight and recommendations beyond the certification on what kind of gear to look for, good habits, inside tips for the industry. Just 11/10. He also does have gear available for sale, customized to the diver, which is I assume how he keeps his prices so low, but he wasn't pushy at all and advised us for what we NEEDED not what he sold. I was actively trying to buy gear from him, and he advised me that I might need something special and that also some other websites unrelated to him are having a pretty good sale right now so he chose our equipment and savings over his own revenue. Just couldn't be more impressed. (Also, if you come down here for just the class from out of town, I highly recommend the "getaway" tiny home cabins nearby for lodging. They're clean, super cheap, nice close by, and easy. Including two nights lodging, you could get your scuba cert here for like a thousand or $1,200 cheaper than you can in most major cities.

If you are trying to decide whether to do your certification with Aquatic Explorers Society, I have…read moretwo words for you: DO IT! My experience with Aquatic Explorers was better than I could have possibly imagined! My husband has been diving for 20 some years and is very passionate about it. I went on an "exploration" dive on our honeymoon to see if I would like it and found I LOVED it. When I saw the AES Groupon it was too good of a deal to pass up. I was a little apprehensive with it being a Groupon, but it was the best decision I could have made. After taking the course and getting to know the owners and their employees, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course at full cost to any of my friends looking to get certified. I was very impressed by their diving knowledge and experience and loved that they were so passionate about marine education and conservation. I have a crazy schedule and they were so kind with working around me being in and out of town for work. They never gave up on me until we found a weekend that worked! I loved the ease and convenience of being able to do my bookwork online from anywhere. I know the below comment mentioned how they didn't like being asked for their personal info, but I felt they didn't ask for anything that wasn't pubic record anyway AND how do you think they verify it is you that is being certified?! It does not seem that strange or intrusive to me at all. Our first day of class started in the classroom with Devin who was extremely informative and made you feel comfortable asking questions. He explained everything thoroughly and used visual aids when relevant, which helped me a lot. Next was into the pool with Genette and Mandy who both made you feel comfortable and gave you the confidence to master the skills you need to know underwater. If a mistake was made they didn't make you feel stupid, they would just help you until you understood how to do it properly. They also explained the reasons why things were done certain ways, which I really appreciated. Although we were in a pool, they would explain things to us in the context of being in the ocean or lake. By the end of the two days, my confidence in my abilities has grown exponentially. I can't wait to do my checkout dives and receive my full certification! Another great thing about AES is they offer all kinds of fun trips throughout the year to different diving locations that you can join if you are certified or go on to do your checkout dives. Granted, if you want to save money, you can do your dive at Lake Lanier with them as well, but who wants to go to Lake Lanier when you could check out in Nassau or Abaco!
