A few hours prior Kierra texted me with parking instructions then when we arrived was prompt to meet us (and we were even early) the studio was lovely with such a cute aesthetic and of course smelled amazing. She was patient and very knowledgeable as we built our fragrances, and wanted us to both leave with something we loved. It's so funny because I told my bf a few days before that candle making would be cool (because I love candles), but that I worried if the smells would bother me... only to turn around and say a day later that I did, in fact, want to do candle making. LOL. Oops. So he made it happen! Crafted Creations is a Black woman-owned biz in Doraville, located in a busy shopping plaza. They offer a variety of classes over a few days throughout the week and I'm happy that he grabbed tickets in time for a 3pm class on my birthday. This class was different than some of the others that I saw, as it was a combo class that included a candle and a room spray for each participant for under $60. We arrived a few minutes early and waited outside for just a few after reading a sign on the door that asked guests to do so if we were early. Makes sense, as it's not a huge space and they seemed to be mindful of crowding. As soon as it turned 3pm, they welcomed us in with open arms. The space is super cute! There's a shiny gold photo backdrop at the front along with a table of candles on sale and a large display of candles, wax melts and room sprays from their own line of scents available. Check-in was a breeze as my partner gave his name and we were instructed to scan a QR code that led us to a waiver. After this, we were guided over to a table that already had all of the tools laid out for us and the other guests. I love communal events such as this as it encourages socializing with folks beyond those you came with and Crafted Creations does a great job of that. We were paired with another couple and a pair of friends, one who was also celebrating her birthday, truly a great group! On the table there were two lazy susans with a variety of scent oils as well as individual trays that had scales, measuring cups, and more. We got started a few minutes later than I had expected (due to the timing policy for guests) but I think they were waiting for a group that came in just a few minutes behind but it worked out great. Each step was super easy to understand, easily executed and fun to make happen. My boyfriend and the gentleman at our table were the only guys in the room and I'm sure that my bf was even surprised at how he enjoyed it lol (also, he now thinks he's a scientist so there's that LOL.) I can't even say how long the process took for both items because we were so focused and not looking at the time at all. My favorite part ended up being the scent-choosing part despite assuming that I'd be overwhelmed. I ended up choosing a clean linen, an amber of sort and I totally can't remember the other scent but as one who goes for a 'clean' smell vs. sweet or musky scents, I was grateful for the varieties. Once we finished our scentful science projects, we were told that as our candles cooled, there were a number of games we could play to pass the time as well as popping any bottles that we brought (it's BYOB!) We totally forgot to bring some sparkling cider but lucky me, the young ladies at our table were sweet enough to share theirs with me and the friend of the bday girl even allowed me to use her champagne glass. *tears* SO SWEET. Community is everything. We played 2 or 3 rounds of uno that were sooo fun, the time passed so swiftly, when they announced that we were good to pick up our candles, we were all still laughing and in the midst of our table fun. However, we were also informed that they would be closed on Monday, so we stayed in contact throughout the week to coordinate a pickup. Unfortunately, we've attempted to pick up our candles on three separate occasions, and each time the business was closed. I also reached out via email and never received a response. After multiple attempts with no communication and no way to retrieve the candles we paid to make, the experience became very frustrating. While the class itself was fun, not receiving the finished product completely changed my overall impression. It felt very unprofessional and, honestly, a bit scammy. I hope they improve their communication and ensure customers can actually receive the products they've paid for

From the moment I walked in, I had concerns. When we arrived, there was only one employee working. The lighting was very dim, there was little to no air conditioning, and although the music selection was good, it was much too loud. The appearance of the first staff member was not professional, and about 30 minutes later another employee arrived looking as though she had just woken up from a nap. Our candle-making class started late because the staff seemed disorganized. Several guests ordered food and drinks, and the drinks took an extremely long time to arrive. When I ordered food, no one informed me that I would have to wait until after the candle class was over to receive it. Ironically, the only food allowed in the room was food brought in from outside the establishment. During the class, the room was hot, dark, and even had a broken bar stool. The instructor often stood 5-6 feet away from the table and provided very little hands-on guidance. Most of the engagement came from the participants rather than the staff. Here you will find scent accords with names and numbers, to remove some bias. Think you don't like spice, then fall in love with nutmeg or black pepper lol. It's an adventure with yourself. Be open for the ride. 3. Most classes are about 2 hours but be flexible with your timing. I always a lot 3 hours for a good tolerate to finish and it makes transitioning through your day much better.
