Great experience diving with Frannie! This shop may not look like it, but it has the best real estate on Front street! We walked in the front door, put on the gear and walked a city block into the water. The dive itself offered great visibility and multiple turtle cleaning stations! Multiple white tip sharks, too! This two tank dive was shallow enough that we had roughly 50 minutes down time. Just Wow! The staff was very friendly and fun to interact with. I highly recommend this group. read more

Went scuba diving while in Maui on vacation. We got to our reservation early and they took us in right away. Abby, our instructor, was wonderful and very nice, chill, and informative. She gave us a rundown on everything we needed to know and then we suited up. While in the water Abby made sure we were all good and confortable before we moved on. She checked in constantly throughout the dive and stepped in when needed. We got to see a bunch of fish, turtles, and a sleeping shark. Definitely a great experience to have if you want to be apart of the less than 3% of people who would try scuba diving. read more

I instructor was Abby. She did an excellent job. I had my three oldest boys 12 through 18, she did a great job of getting them ready, and then watching over them the whole time underwater. Mala Pier is an amazing place to take your first dive. We had an incredible experience diving the cathedral dive with Dive Maui! We met at their dive shop where the staff was very helpful in picking out the most comfortable sizes for the flippers and wet suits. The wet suits were aqualung and looked brand new. We went diving with Jeff and Joe was our captain. Both were really knowledgeable and helpful in getting us all set up for our two dives! Our first dive was white rock and our second was cathedral 1. They also provided us with lunch and gave us dive maui water bottles as souvenirs! We noticed a lot of whales swimming around our boat after our second dive so we did an impromptu whale watch for an extra hour and got incredible footage of alteast 50 whales swimming and breaching close to our boat! Overall we had an amazing time with the Dive Maui crew and would highly recommend this dive company! read more

Yeah! We stayed in kannapali and due to the current situation in lahina had to go to Kehei to rent SCUBA gear for a shore dive at airport beach. Staff were super chill and got our gear (nice stuff too!) ready ASAP. Conditions were 8.5 to 9.0 so like diving in an aquarium. Thanks much, mahalo! read more

Came to Dive Maui and did the Discovery Dive with Renee, she was fantabulous! I was anxious and panicked but she was so patient with me, helped me try different ways to overcome my fear, and let me practice until I felt comfortable to complete the skills on my own. No cutting corners and very thorough. Love the marine life underwater, so pretty and so serene. We saw lots of turtles, coral and fish...plus a few sharks close by that I didn't see. We even heard the whales singing underwater on our first day. Renee is a great teacher and hope to come back to dive with her again (crossing fingers that I'll be PADI certified by then...or close to it). We also did the whale watching tour which was AMAZING with Renee and Steven. The whales were so active and learned a lot about humpback whales as well as why the location is ideal for breeding. One swam right up under us and we saw another pop his body out of the water (not quite a breach) to see what was going on as we were leaving. Such beautiful creatures, I could have stayed out there all day! read more

I had the pleasure of doing the PADI Open Water Diver Course with Renee. I had never experienced scuba diving ever before and decided to jump right into getting my certification. Dive Maui made signing up for the course incredibly easy. They provided me with my online course materials almost immediately and kept in touch about the program even up to the day before the in-person learning courses. Renee was incredibly thorough throughout the 2 day course. There was never a moment where I was nervous about being in the water demonstrating the necessary skills needed for certification. She was friendly, personable, and extremely knowledgeable not only about diving but about sea life and Maui as well. I felt incredibly safe with her even as we dove with reef tip sharks on our second day! When I return to Maui, I will certainly be back to Dive Maui for my open water dives (hopefully the Lanai Cathedrals next!). read more

Fantastic trip!I've been whale watching for 20 yrs and this was by far the best trip ever.We had a Mother& calf & male escort come and check out the boat.At one point the males tail was almost within touching distance as he submerged Right next to the boat. CJ's handling & maneuvering of the craft was superb and Brook was an excellent communicator & source of information.Our "close encounter" with the whales lasted 30 mins(with the engines off of course) and is something I will treasure for the rest of my life. read more

Our grandma did her first ever dive at 73 years old with Dive Maui. We went with her and had Chris as an instructor. He was simply amazing with her (and us), so sweet and so very patient. Abbi was a great dive master. It was one of the best dives we have ever taken. We saw at least 15 turtles, two sharks, two octopus, eel, so many fish and the visibility was amazing. You must do their whale tour! (went in January) They have a very strong understanding of the whales and the smaller boat gives you a great opportunity to see them up close! Would go back with them in a heartbeat Their diving class is also amazing. They were extremely patient with my partner and did a fantastic job of getting her down below with ease. We did 4 dives and had a wonderful time. Carthaginian was cool and my first shark encounter. The turtle cleaning station was rich with Turtles, Sharks and a big green eel. Wash Rock was great with the lava tube. Last but not least...the Cathedral. My favorite dive to date. I wish I had a flashlight for both Wash Rock and Cathdral but what a sight to see. Do the Lanai Cathedrals dive with this shop - arguably the MOST memorable experience of my Maui trip and in my lifetime. First and foremost, our guide Chantel was incredibly knowledgeable and nice. Gave us knowledge about the wildlife we'd see beforehand, what to anticipate before going on the dive, and frequently checked in on us to see how we were doing. The other staff were also incredibly approachable and nice. On the trip itself, we were so lucky to have seen a pod of 60+ dolphins before hitting the water. The staff were very accommodating in following the pod a bit to let us enjoy the lucky find. Then we hit the water, and the experience was absolutely breath-taking (get it? because we were also scuba diving? eh never mind). Chantel was quick to point out varieties of fish species, eels, crabs, and much more. We were led in a very intuitive and clear manner, where even going through the cathedrals and small arcs was super easy to understand the first time around. I'll never forget that experience of going through and around the cathedrals - super cool! The next time I come by, I'll be sure to book a dive with this shop. Do yourself a big favor and do the same - it'll be the experience of a lifetime with some absolutely amazing people! Our main reason to visit Maui was to dive the Cathedral. Dive Maui had a very accommodating schedule that fit well with our trip dates. We have all of our own gear so we didn't need to rent anything. But the night before we departed to Maui, my digital gauge stopped working. I emailed the shop immediately to let them know that I would need a gauge. They responded in the morning stating that it wouldn't be an issue at all. When we arrived in the morning to dive they were able to swap out my gauge with theirs without hesitation. We ended up diving 2 days with them. The first day was the backside of the Molokini Crater. The 2-tank dives were both gorgeous drift wall dives with plenty of coral and smaller reef life. But with the big blue behind us there was always a chance to see larger life. No sharks or mantas on those dives, but we did see some large trevally and parrotfish. Our DM Brooke was able to point out various nudibranchs, eels, and even a scorpionfish! Their photographer, Micah, took some incredible pictures of the divers and the dive site! For our Cathedral dive, our DMs Scott and Pascal did an awesome job explaining not just the sea life we would see down there, but also the beauty of the Cathedral, as well as the intricacies of how to get in, and how to get out of the Cathedral. For both days, our captains Stephen and CJ made us feel safe, welcome, and at home on the boat. We saw numerous humpback whales during our trips to and from the dive sites. They stopped the boat several times so we could watch them as they lunged and breached. It was a fantastic bonus to witness these majestic creatures. Unfortunately we couldn't stay too long out there with the whales as the crew needed to prepare the boat for the actual whale watching tours that were going out soon after we would dock, but it was nice to get a preview along with some amazing dives! At the end of each day, they offered to rinse our gear in the shop for us. Since we were diving for 2 days, they allowed us to keep our gear at the shop for the next day. I have been out diving with these guys several times over the past few years. They are a mom-and-pop operation, operating out of a little hole-in-the-wall shop near Mala Pier. They don't have a huge boat, but the upside of that is that it's not a "cattle boat". They regularly head out to the Cathedrals and have a great open-water location frequented by hammerheads. Abbi, Pascal, Jeff and the boat captain, Steve, treat you right. Highly recommended!! read more

Great dive to Lanai Cathedrals with Dive masters Jeff and Chantal. Super friendly staff started w Nick in the office. Great well taken care of equipment for my son (BCD and reg) and nice, clean wetsuits for all. Appreciated the full 5 mm for me as I get cold easily. Jeff and Chantal were super knowledgeable and friendly dive masters. I hate being rushed and there was NO rushing. Extremely comprehensive briefings. Had a drawing of the site which I hadn't seen done in a while and appreciated. Great photos of sea life. Jeff was our dive master and was good about keeping us together but not being militant about it as my husband is a photographer and is always behind. . He took time to point a lot of life out we would have missed. Also took care of the two newer divers with us esp when one had trouble equalizing and getting down. Gave my son a tip to help him w his air consumption too. Boat is solid. Not a ton of room, but then also not a cattle car. Provided us all water bottles to take home, and sandwich for lunch, along with snacks after second dive. Cathedrals is as stunning as it looks - definitely go and we will be looking to return next time in Maui! read more

Do yourself a favor and visit Dive Maui if you plan to dive while on Maui. The shop is located a short walk from Mala Wharf, the best shore dive on the island. All their equipment is top quality and the staff are all really helpful. My wife, daughter and I completed our PADI open water dives with Chelsea during 2 days at Mala Wharf which was an incredible place to certify as you get the bonus of abundant marine life while practicing skills. Chelsea was an excellent instructor and we thoroughly enjoyed all 4 dives at that site. The next day we went out on the boat for the 2 tank Cathedrals dive, led by Chantal who we had already met at the office. She led us on 2 great dives in 60 feet with 100 feet visibility, including Wash Rock and Cathedrals 1. Everything about the experience was perfect and we look forward to visiting these guys next time we are on the island. read more

Perfect dive trip! The boat and the staff were perfect! The Lanai Tunnels are a perfect scene to view the beautiful corals, fish, and the caves to swim through. Lanai is close but a different scene. Dive Master Brooke and Captain Michelle made the perfect dive! Brooke had constant communication with our whole group. She kept track of our air usage. She maneuvered our group back to the area of the boat so that when a couple divers were low (like me), she sent them up and continued the dive with the others. My girlfriend and I did two Mala Wharf dives with Brooke and it was a fantastic experience. My girlfriend got her certification specifically to dive Maui and the team at Dive Maui made her feel comfortable and at ease. With over 1700 dives under her belt, Brooke is an excellent dive master with an infectious positive attitude. She made us feel very welcome the entire experience. The gear mask, snorkels, wet suits and fins were all very good quality. We dove with another dive shop with mediocre quality equipment in Wailea and immediately noticed how much of a difference the quality in equipment made a difference. If we had more time, we would have dove Hammerhead, but since we missed Hammerhead this time we have an excuse to go back to Maui soon. Loved my experience diving the Cathedrals of Lanai!! Truly a bucket list dive. The first cathedral was incredibly beautiful, awe-inspiring. The other reef that we dived (Wash Rock?) was also crystal clear and full of interesting fish to look at. A great day. My husband and I went scuba diving today for the 1st time! You don't need to be a certified diver for the beginner class we took. Brooke was our instructor and I can't begin to say how fantastic she was. She went over all the instructions beforehand, answering any questions. It's important you pay attention because you will use every instruction that she told you when you're in the water! She takes you about 10 feet down to practice blowing water out of your mask, using the respirator, and what to do if it comes loose. Then you go further down and swim around around an old pier that was destroyed by a hurricane. It's the perfect place to see a lot of underwater creatures. We saw sea turtles, a shark, lots of different fish, and a lot of coral. Brooke kept checking on us making sure we were ok and kept us calm and relaxed. I did my first dive in the ocean with them (certified in a landlocked state) and it was AMAZING! I loved the Cathedral 1 so much, I'd say if you had to pick between there and Molokini, do Cathedral 1. Just a very cool crew and shop and the stickers for our log book was just a sweet cherry on top. As vegetarian I didn't take one but they gave out nice plates of sandwiches, chips and oranges. I was nervous going with them because they weren't mentioned in our guidebook but found them to be much better than the one the book raved about. We really only went with them because we were late to book and they were the only ones that would take us but what a pleasant surprise! read more

This is the best overall dive experience for check in, equipment, punctuality, safety, boat captain knowledge and sense of humor, dive guide's safety and ability to point out super cool marine life, help in getting in/out of water, stopping to check out sea turtles, dolphins and whales on our way to and from Lanai, and cleaning our equipment after the experience was over. Had a great experience diving Mala Wharf with Renee at night and Gu twice during the day. Felt confident with their knowledge of the site and the fish etc. It's also a different dive at night versus the daytime so do both! Saw many reef sharks and turtles (day mostly), but beautiful at night too. Short walk from the center to the beach wasn't bad at all even with gear. Highly recommend them for Maui diving. read more
