Steve runs the safest best operation around on Maui. I have personally been diving with Steve for almost 20 years through his shop. He gives great briefings, will point out all sorts of critters I often overlook and knows diving with the best of the business. If you get seasick, please check the weather ahead of time. It can be a bumpy on the crossing to Lanai. Most of the time it's a smooth fast ride! Steve will fins the best locations given the weather conditions for the day and always takes care of the newer folks on the boat. If you have been a few times, he may give you some leeway to stray from the group. But ONLY if you know the dive sites. With the many locations over on Lanai it is great to be away from the massive hoards of folks diving Maui. The dive spots have clear water, more critters and you usually get to see Spinner Dolphins along the boat ride. If you are a dive enthusiast or a beginner, HRA will take care of you and you'll have a great time! read more

We did the shore dive with Joe. We hadn't dove since pre-pandemic so we did a little check out first. Joe was awesome to work with. Then we did 2 dives off Kaanapali and Mala pier. Both were good but the pier was chock full of turtles. We are heading out with them again. read more

the logistics: pain-free reservation online, plus you get a discount, front desk/phone staff guy can be less rude/intimidating and more nice as this is a tourist driven business, a small shop located behind cannery mall, easy enough to find that you wont get lost, late start (830) and got back at approx 2pm for the lanai charter (some may like a late start, I tend to lean towards earlier), a pontoon that will get you to lanai quickly, safeway american sub + lays chips + safeway chocolate chip cookie + orange slices + water/sodas for lunch/snack The dive: DM (sorry, forgot his name) was informative throughout the ride and surface intervals, good dive site briefing by capt nick, did double arches and cathedrals I, i like that the DM doesnt baby you around, you get brought back to the vicinity of the boat when the majority of folks are around 700psi or so, you time your own stops and surface when its done (some people may like this, some may need more attention, but I liked it), charter was comprised of experience-enough divers so that no one really dragged the entire group behind and no bottom time was wasted they are competitively priced, which is the main reason i went with them...thinking about doing another charter during this maui trip, debating between them or doing a couple of shore dives on our own overall solid dive outfit once you're on the water read more

I was in Maui around Feb 1st 2022. We did the back wall of Molikini Crater as well as the Carthiginian (sunken ship near Lahina). Very cool dives both reaching depths of 100 feet. Very safe operation, no issues. Everybody seemed to enjoy their dives. I have rented equiptment from them as well for shore dives and have always been happy with them. A+ service. read more

Went to Wash Rock and 1st Cathedral with Captain Larry and Scott. 1st Cathedral blew my mind, most gorgeous and surreal place I've ever been. Knowledgeable staff, really enjoyed that they went through the dive plan and what fish to look for on the dive. I'm not super experienced but felt safe and well-cared for. Only minor critique- the wetsuits were super thick and difficult to get on so bring your own if you can. Otherwise equipment was top notch. read more

We had a great trip with Dive Maui. I was a little concerned at first, as there were 13 people signed up. But they had 3 dive masters on the boat and split us up. They had a smooth system down for everyone. It was comfortable and fun. Chantel was our dive master. She was AWESOME. So knowledgeable and passionate about her work. You can tell she really loves it, and is great with people. The captain was fantastic too. Very patient as he was training staff. We lucked out seeing spinner dolphins on our way back in. I went on two separate trips with Dive Maui -- a boat trip to dive the Lanai Cathedrals and a 2 hour whale watching trip. The cathedrals were gorgeous and Joe and Michelle did a great job finding us a safe, beautiful place to dive. We saw a bunch of whales on the way -- overall a great trip! We had such a good time I brought my family back to go whale watching for 2 hours. CJ and Levi were absolutely awesome - knowledgeable about the whales, respected their safety, and helping us see well over 2 dozen whales! It's hard to pick a place to take the one you love for their first diving experience. Thank goodness I made the right choice. Dive Maui was professional, informative, our dive master, Abby, rocked and of course the dive site was awesome (hello so many turtle sightings). Although our dive was cut short because of another guest's issues, Abby was great at making sure we still had a good experience. You can't ask for more than that. After going on a whale watch with another company yesterday we decided to be spontaneous and find an opening again today. To our luck we landed on Dive Maui and made a booking. 45 minutes later we were out on what I would say was the PERFECT adventure . EVERYTHING was TOP Notch! From the friendly person on the phone who answered my questions and made the booking to the amazing crew who greeted us and made us feel like VIP the entire trip we could NOT have asked for more. My wife and I just got back from Maui and dove with Jeff from Dive Maui. He was very attentive and safety conscious. The whole staff wore masks. My wife has a nagging ear issue and he was very patient as we descended. Before getting wet, he gave us a wonderful overview of where we were diving and the fish we would anticipate seeing. Dive Maui uses a modified pontoon boat which is quick, nimble and steady. On the way to the dive site, we stopped for a mother and child whale playing in front of the boat AND on the way back a giant pod of dolphins which ran with the boat. A wonderful day on the water, a better day under the water. They provided us a lunch and a sports bottle of water to take home. All in all, they were a terrific crew, had fun and the Cathedrals was a whole different experience for us. Thanks read more

Best dive I can remember! What a phenomenal trip out to the Lanai Cathedrals with Jeff, Larry, and Chantelle. The Lanai Cathedrals were absolutely stunning and certainly worth the trip. Saw dolphins, lobster, octopuses, eels, and more fish than you could dream of! The team on board was great. I had a bit of extra air towards the end of both dives, and Jeff stayed with me for an extra 10 minutes making sure that I could spend as much time as I could down in the reef. The lunch on board was really nice too - although if you prefer a bigger lunch I'd recommend taking an additional snack. My Advice: Don't miss this dive :) Thanks for the awesome trip! read more

Great little shop located right by one of the best dive/snorkel spots in Maui. It looks small from outside but is actually pretty big and has everything you could need. They saved the day for us today with an SD card for my GoPro so we could get all of the turtle shots :). Definitely recommend. read more

This crew was great to dive with. Scott took us on two dives at Lanai Cathedrals, and Chelsea was great fun for a couple shore dives. My family was lucky enough to be able to do a combo whale watch/snorkel/dive charter with Captain Levi, CJ the dive master/whale guru and Jeff the photographer. This is Dive Maui's first season doing whale watches and they do a special whale watch on Monday's where a portion of the proceeds benefit the Sea Shepherd Conservation Foundation! We saw TONS of whales, including a baby whale that kept breaching closer and closer to our boat while the mama whale seemed to get more "frustrated" trying to keep herself between the little one and our boat which he wanted to come investigate. After we whale watched we went diving at the submerged Mala Pier where there were tons of turtles, rockfish, trumpetfish and beautiful coral! It was a great intro dive and CJ was very patient with me as I struggled at the beginning to remember and use the skills I had learned 22 years ago in Maui and also get my buoyancy/BCD vest just right. If you want the BEST whale watch or dive (or both) in Lahaina go with Dive Maui!! Had the pleasure of going on a 2 tank lanai cathedral dive trip with Dive Maui today. 10/10 would recommend anyone to choose Dive Maui if they are a beginner or very experienced. Being on vacation, we really appreciated the full service trip with gear ready with name tags and personal water bottles. The extra touches went above and beyond. On the boat ride out the the dive sites, Larry the boat driver stopped multiple times to and from the dive site when we saw dolphins and whales near our route. We went out on a charter this winter to see the first cathedral. Both guides were helpful and gave good dive briefings. The boat captain stopped for us to see spinner dolphins and humpback whales as they jumped out of the water. Our guide Jeff pointed out unique animals and helped me get great video on my GoPro. My only wish was we had thought to ask him to take a photo of us while in the cathedral on our camera! We brought our own gear and they even rinsed and dried our gear at the shop for us to pick up later that day. They gave us recommendations for shore diving locations too. I would highly recommend their charter for divers. I've done about 50 dives but I think a brand new diver would be comfortable going with any of the dive masters here. read more

Just came back from Maui and had a great trip! One of the highlights was diving Lanai with Deve Maui. Lots of whales along the way to and from the dive sites. Jumped into crystal clear water with great visibility. We did wash risk and the 1st cathedral. Both had a good variety of beautiful fish as well as some turtles. The cathedral is so beautiful and the shotgun exit is always fun. Abbi was entertaining, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Perfect dive master. I can only highly recommend this trip for anyone considering diving in Maui. read more

I did my second dive trip since being certified with these guys, I dived molokini and turtle town with another company a few days prior, and let me tell you, this experience was twice as good! Captain Steve (Boat captain/my groups dive master), Steve (took care of all the boat gear) , and Brian ( from Ft worth, could be another name sorry bro!) were exceptional, they take care of everything, provide a great sandwich, snacks, and drinks, boat handles great and gets your to the dive site alot faster than the other bigger boats. I will only dive with these guys when I come back! The Lanai cathedrals were fantastic. They take you into the cathedrals and get a few hero pictures inside the caves, absolutely gorgeous clear water with 100+ ft visibility, saw a bunch of fish, eels, sea turtles. Highly recommend this shop, they also sell a flash drive for $30 bucks with all the high quality underwater pictures they take of you and the unique fish you see during the dive, its definitely a steal at that price! But when they show the pictures on their (older?) LCD monitor at the store, it really doesn't do it justice, when we took it home and put it on our laptops, these pictures are extremely high quality. Definitely recommend you buy the flash drive! read more

I did a two-tank dive with Dive Maui this month and had an amazing experience. Our guide, Jeff, was extremely knowledgable and made sure our group had the best dive experience possible. Safety was their top priority and they took time to assess the skill level of each diver. The equipment they gave us was well maintained and in good working order. They assessed conditions (currents, winds, visibility) and adjusted our dive site in real time to ensure the best dive experience possible. Lastly, and important to me, was the care they took to minimize our environmental impact and make sure all of us understood our responsibility to the reef and to sea life and ensure we were being good stewards of the ocean. The next time I'm in Maui, I will go back to Dive Maui and explore more of what the island has to offer. read more

This was my first time diving with this dive organization. We did 5 days of diving with them. Safety is their number one priority, taking measures I have never seen before. This included loaner dive sausages and GPS devices on a drift dive to the back wall of Molokini. This of great comfort, and did not interfere wit the dive a all. They use a hard bottom zodiac, so backwards roll is the entry method if that is new to you. The staff were incredibly friendly, safety conscious, and knowledgeable. If I have any complaint, is they could use more variety in their snacks/food/drinks. It may be limited as it is a small boat. The boat is VERY fast, allowing for only 1 hour from Lahaina to Molokini. I think they are the only ones going to Molokini from Lahaina. Overall, great experience and would highly recommend. read more

Utterly divine. Attentive, mellow, and terrific. They took our whole extended family (6 adults and two kids) diving/snorkeling at Fish Rock and a pinnacles/cathedral spot off Lenai. There were diver or snorkeling buddies (more than one) for each group. They knew where to find dolphins and had the sense to stop so we could enjoy a gorgeous and delightful pod spinning and sporting in ecstasy. Snorkeling is my happy place and this trip was pure divine joy. Hannah was so kind - she swam and snorkeled with us and our kids, and showed us an excellent giant spiny lobster. Levi is a most excellent captain -- such good instincts and judgment. He took us along the edge of beautiful rock fixtures off Lenai for no other reason than pure enjoyment. We enjoyed every moment. I have gone out with approximately 7-8 charters on Maui and this is by far the best. Fast comfortable boat, never cramped or too many divers. Jason, Steve and Brian were the best they make sure all are comfortable and informed prior to hitting the water. Cold drinks always available and Steve cooked my steak perfectly LOL (great sandwiches). My brother and I have been going to these guys exclusively the last 4 years for beach and boat dives, Jason always takes great care of us. One of the best shore dives in Maui is a block away at Mala pier. You can walk in with a bathing suit on and they can make the dive happen for you!
