I felt pressure to get extensions on all nails, but compromised on just my thumb because the edge had a little breakage, even though I specifically said I didn't want extensions, so I gave in -- as I have with other things in the past. The result looked noticeably different from my other thumb (so thick and wide), yet she insisted it was due to my nail bed. When she eventually removed the extension, both thumbs looked the same. I know this was not an issue with my nails, but rather the application even though she would not back down. She also burned me multiple times during the appointment, and despite me expressing the pain I was in, there was no reaction or apology -- as if I was expected to just tolerate it. After all this time, it's disappointing to leave unhappy with both the experience and the end result.

Over the last few months, though, I have been consistently burned. The first occasion I actually called and complained to which they told me that waxer had since been fired. It had been less than a week, but okay. They said they'd put a note on my account to keep the wax temperature lower. I have to say, I went with Ashley after this and she is great. She is probably the best waxer at this location. She's nice to talk to and is no BS. She knows what she's doing. Unfortunately her schedule doesn't really work with mine so I've booked with whoever is available. Pretty unfortunate I'd say because I continue to get burned but this last time was really bad. Thankfully I'm not scarred but my skin was not just red, but was peeling from the temperature of the wax. Before it started peeling it was flakey, which was pretty scary. I texted the center asking for a call from the manager. She did call but I missed it- when I followed up via text she never answered. That just shows the kind of managerial staff is hired here and how the leadership trickles down to the waxers. I have been in a management position in a gym before and I would continue to follow up if I didn't hear back from someone who got hurt or injured. I have since cancelled future appointments at this location. I would have asked for a refund on my wax pass but I never even got the chance to ask. When you spend over $500 on a package, you should be getting quality service... or at least a call back/ follow up text. BTW, she gave me her personal cell phone number to call and never answered. When I called a different location and let them know I need the wax temperature lower, they said that it's standard procedure not to keep it too hot and were shocked at what I told them. Thankfully I can use the wax pass at any location, which is exactly where I'm taking my business, somewhere other than the Plainview location.

The person ostensibly cutting their hair was on their cell phone. When I entered, he asked if I had an appointment. I asked, seeing that there was no one else in the establishment, if that were really necessary. He responded yes, and then TURNED HIS BACK ON ME! Now, I'm aware that some places want to keep up a certain level of decorum, or pretension, and might want to insist on appointments, regardless of foot traffic. But where I'm from, turning your back on, someone is considered a slap in the face, and / or grounds for receiving one. Perhaps he didn't like my shirt. Perhaps it's a little too hot for everyone. Perhaps my skin tone didn't live up to his standards. Whatever the reason, rudeness and disrespect are no way to run a business.
