When I came to DC, the last thing I expected to find was a legit fantastic taco place. I didn't discover this place until my last day, but it was so good at breakfast, I came back for dinner and it was just as good. Can't wait to come back to DC so I can eat here again!

Quick | Options | Burrito Quick - I showed up at 8:30 PM on a Tuesday because I was in town for a conference. From the time I arrived at the kiosk to when I received my food was 6 minutes total. Therefore, the process of selecting and acquiring food was simple and efficient. Options - There were many meal types, condiments, and add-ons. Overall, I was very impressed with the different remixes I could make on all the meals. It was more than "the other Hispanic" chain restaurant with made to order meals. Burrito - I had the Chicken Burrito with corn, lettuce, home fries (potatoes), medium salsa, and corn. It was delicious. Definitely, top 3 Burrito I've ever had. When you consider the price point - it was great value for how full I was. Pro Tip: There is not a lot of parking, so be sure to leave time if you plan to dine in. Pro Tip: Do not dine in - the restaurant is not well suited for you to enjoy a meal inside. It is best set up for a "grab and go" spot.

I get my burrito. I'm happy to eat this. I'm hungry. I've been walking all day. I sit down get my burrito. Take a bite out of it. First bite second bite third bite fucking cluster bomb of rice. I have never eaten so much rice in one time it felt like I was eating Chinese food instead of a burrito about halfway through the burrito, I decided I'm gonna stop eating like a burrito. I opened it up and grabbed a fork and it was fine from there. it deserves the three stars as on the logo. still better than Primo's. I recommend here over there anytime

Salad w/ chorizo and grilled chicken. Side of quac. Very good. Excellent service.

First time so it took me a minute to figure out it's kiosk order only. Not a big deal. I'm a gringo so I'll keep it simple Romaine salad with grilled chicken and sausage Jefe style with a side of guac. Add in a fountain drink and I had a very filling and flavorful lunch for $21. Would definitely bring my wife and kids. Fans of Chipotle...I used to be. This was better IMHO. Worth a stop.

(Full disclaimer: As someone who came from LA, Washington D.C. can't really compare to LA or San Diego when Southern California has the best Mexican food hands down. So I'm somewhat seemingly overcritical when it comes to reviewing Mexican food). I digress. Here's my review anyway: I came here on a Thursday after work and it was okay. I wasn't overly thrilled or disappointed. It was meh. District Taco is a mini-chain to my knowledge and so, like many other chain restaurants (like Chipotle or Qdoba), it's average. The food is comparable to Qdoba, and the portions are fair. I ordered a Desnudo with Steak and it came out fairly quick. Because I didn't have high expectations, I wasn't really disappointed at the fact that the flavor was pretty bland and the steak was a bit dry. On the bright side, there's a small island bar where you can grab all your fixins--additional cilantro, salsas, lemon, etc. This location on M street was conveniently close to work so for convenience, I give it a 5/5. The inside is also kept pretty clean and the staff are friendly. Overall, I'm happy with the service, but would probably still choose Chipotle over District Taco.

Decently sized and tasty take out for taco Tuesday! :)

We grabbed a couple drinks and ordered some snacks while we hung out. The soft pretzel with mustard was good, but the buffalo chicken dip with Cheetos was the winner. It was exactly the kind of over-the-top bar food that works after a couple drinks. The atmosphere is really what makes the place. It was busy and energetic without feeling like a club, and we could still sit, have a drink, and actually talk. Cool spot for cocktails, snacks, and hanging out for a while. Definitely somewhere we'd come back to.

I always leave with new songs on my playlist. It is on the smaller side so I wouldn't suggest for a huge group. But if you're looking to grab a cocktail with a few friends or by yourself I definitely recommend. I ordered the Gold Rush! The drink was perfectly sweet and a good intro to bourbon, which I typically don't drink. I can't remember the second drink I got but it was equally delicious. I will note my friend was not a fan of her dirty martini. Overall great experiences.

Cocktails have become trendy and mostly a lazy combination of a spirit, simple syrup and a fancy-sounding ingredient. Not here. Each combination is crafted and tastes delicious. One sign of a good cocktail to me is that it has balanced flavors that somehow combine well together to create complexity that works. It did here. Our bartender was knowledgeable and guided me well after I shared my preferred spirit and flavor profile. The martini I had was off-menu and well prepared. Nostalgia for days of yore when only a handful of places in NYC were known for "cocktails" - not every happy hour menu in town. We did get the happy hour pricing ($12/drink) and yes, 20% gratuity was included. The service was stellar so I would've done that anyways and had no problem with it being mandatory. I will add - someone complained about the incense smells and when I first walked in, it did smell odd. Over time, I saw our bartender switch it out and the second fragrance was more inviting.

Our server was new and very helpful. The space is tight in there so walking back to our table was a bit of a challenge trying not to hit someone while they were taking a drink, but the energy is high and lively! We ordered cocktails to start, and there were so many interesting choices that it was a difficult choice. We all thought we got the best one! Every dish was fresh, flavorful and fire! The scallion lamb was tender and savory. The crab fried rice was total comfort food and I could eat this every day! All those flavors! The dish that stole the show; however, was the eggplant! Wow! What a wonderful surprise. Hot, fresh and full of flavor, the eggplant was perfectly cooked and we couldn't stop talking about it long after we left!

The vegetable dishes were easily my favorite part of the meal. The salt and pepper eggplant in particular had a fantastic flavor profile, and the veggies overall were flavorful and genuinely fun to eat. The entrees did not land quite as well for me. The portions felt small for the price, the beef was sparse, and the noodles leaned a little dry. I did enjoy the atmosphere though. We sat outside, the music was bumping, and the whole space had a relaxed energy to it. I can definitely see the appeal, but between the limited non-pork options and the entrees falling short, I am not sure it would be a go-to for me.
