I've been taking adult open classes here for about a year and find that most evening and weekend classes tend to be crowded, so try a weekday daytime class if you can. There's street parking on Wisconsin Ave and side streets or discounted parking in the Giant Foods garage (remember to get your parking validation from the receptionist). While the faculty each have their own styles, all the ones I've taken from are top-notch instructors who were former (or are currently) professional ballet company dancers. I think I've finally figured out the five levels for adult classes, which are not as they're labeled, IMO: - Beginning 1. For dancers in their first couple years of ballet study, or who are rehabbing after not dancing for 1+ years. The teacher will explain ballet terminology. - Beginning 2. Not actually for beginners. Full barre and center combinations. - Advanced beginning. If tombe-pas de bourree-glissade-saut de chat is in your muscle memory. - Intermediate I. Dancers are doing double-plus pirouettes. Petite allegro can have jumps with beats. Combos are more intricate, challenging... and FUN! - Intermediate II. You'll see some dancers en pointe, and pros occasionally drop in. The class moves fast, where the teacher doesn't even have to fully demonstrate the combo yet everyone knows what they're doing. Fouette turns. If you're on the fence about which level to attend, I recommend trying the safer/lower level first, then moving up as you become comfortable. Overall, TWSB is a wonderful place to take ballet class in the DMV area!

Jen is our teacher and she does a good job making sure we learn good technique and progressively build on what we learned to get better. The community of people who dance here is nice and friendly. They have socials on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 6 pm, and they are a very low-key atmosphere where everyone is just there to learn and have fun. My husband and I also took bachata wedding lessons here with Michelle and she helped us put together a great first dance!

Mateo is warm, patient, and his intuitive approach made us feel at ease. His guidance not only boosted our confidence on the dance floor but helped us stay confident, and connected throughout the day in front of the cameras (looking photographic too with all those practice dips & posture tips too!) When we struggled with certain steps in the routine, he listened and adapted, finding alternatives that suited us. Beyond preparing us for our first dance, Mateo gave us with tools to stay connected leading up to our wedding. His lessons turned stressful days into moments of joy. We left every session feeling ready to take on whatever came our way. And we know we will be using them for a lifetime. We couldn't have asked for a better instructor or investment in our wedding. And yes, the dance went beautifully. We looked amazing, but Mateo gave us so much more than a great show for our guests.

Forever Dancing is the real thing…read more If you're looking for a place where you can learn social dancing or take any dance style to a genuinely high level, this is it. It has the seriousness of a real dance school -- the kind where you learn to do things correctly -- but with warmth and a community that makes you feel genuinely welcome. The group and private classes are taught at a high standard to whatever your goals are, which means there's a learning curve at first, but that's actually the point: you get real instruction, and the personalized attention in the group setting means you won't get lost -- you progress quickly, in a supportive environment where both the instructors and your fellow students are genuinely invested in your development. And most importantly, the classes are fun and a safe place to learn. What also sets it apart is the culture. This isn't a place where you show up, take a class, and disappear into the night with nobody particularly invested in whether you learned anything. The other students are warm and welcoming, you actually get to know people, and there's a real cohesion to the community. It has a culture -- something you feel from the first time you walk in. Fabio and Jennifer are true professionals, and that's not something you find everywhere. They bring both serious expertise and a genuine sense of style and warmth to everything they do -- the weekly classes, the dance parties, the performances, the trips. There's a panache to this place that sets it apart. If you want a studio where the atmosphere is welcoming and fun, and the dance instruction is excellent, Forever Dancing delivers on both. It is truly a gem.

One thing that really stands out is having multiple instructors during class, which allows for more personalized guidance even in a group setting. The studio itself is spacious and welcoming, and their monthly dance parties are always a great time with music, refreshments, and a fun atmosphere to practice different styles. We're so happy to be part of the Forever Dancing Ballroom community and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn to dance in a supportive environment!

Today was Day 5 of the Dancing in the DMV. This institute also shares their lovely space as a daycare/summer camp for the neighborhood children. The institute has been home of some of DC's elite dancers who gone on to train at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. The staff were welcoming and the faculty was very clean. Restrooms fully stocked and smelling fresh because that's so important. There are a set of elevators if someone is unable to take the stairs. Beautiful inside. Nestled right in the park rd area of uptown DC. There's a parking garage located at 3100 14th street, one block up from the institute. Very reasonably priced and takes the worry out of getting a ticket.

I'm somebody who believes that my instructor should be GREAT b/c it shows me, very tangibly and visually, what to strive for. If I'm supposed to mimic you and I am not impressed with your skills, that is not at all good. You can't tell me how to be great, you have to show me. We did some barre work and then put together a short routine. While it was quite chill and all levels are welcome, it wasn't what I was looking for. I'm looking for rigor. I'm looking for someone to point out all my flaws, make me stronger, and improve my form so that I can be a better aerialist. I want great lines, stronger muscles, and to become a better performer. I don't see that at all happening with that ballet class. If you're looking for something easy and chill, then this is probably a fine ballet class. I might be interested in taking the hip hop class or something else, but I'd rather sell off my pass. All that being said, would anyone like to buy my pass from me? Seriously. $40 for 6 classes or best offer.

Once things opened up post-Covid, we continued to take classes at Perfect Pointe in person. My daughter has loved dancing there and even joined one of the competition teams this year. We find that we are at the dance studio often now. But, we still find time to play soccer, do Girl Scouts, and a few other activities.
