I had a roofer tell me that my entire roof support structure was in danger of failing and they had their structural engineer come out. The estimate was astronomical and would take months to complete. I brought in Distinguished Structural Engineers to give me a second opinion. They give me a written analysis with lots of pictures pointing out some issues, but they gave us peace of mind that the structure was fundamentally sound and only needed attention in a few areas. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. That needs to be known. This was my first venture in the remodeling world. I wanted to remove a support wall (load bearing) to open up the room and have a nice new kitchen. I hired DSE for structural plans for the removed wall and architectural plans to move around MEP (outlets, plumbing, etc). The wall to be removed has an outlet and plumbing for the fridge. Anyways, they completely planned it all out and had things drawn up in a jiffy. It took about 2 weeks to get it all done, but if I was better prepared, it would have been shorter. I submitted the plans myself to the city, first try it was a successful submission!! I now conform to city requirements, which makes me a law abiding citizen, all thanks to DSE. This all sounds good, but what about price? The best in town, IMPOSSIBLE to beat. I talked to 7 different firms, DSE beats them all. We all hate bad experiences and being ripped off. These guys are a gem in the rough. Great experience at a low price you can't find anywhere else. I'll never need to look again when my next project comes around the corner. read more

I highly recommend this place. Farshid was very detailed in his inspection, very professional and friendly. Our house has some hairline cracks and we needed a structural engineer to verify the integrity of the foundation. We made an appointment for Farshid to come check it out. He probably spent 1.5 hours checking the inside and outside of the house, asking questions and running all types of tests. Farshid came out and helped inspect our home. We bought our home 2 months ago but did not have a structural inspection done during escrow. We decided to have a foundation company do an inspection of our crawl space. They recommended some repairs that weren't too major fortunately. The same week Farshid came and looked at our home. He was very clear in communication and also took his time to review and explain things. He saw that we recently replaced our roof and said that the overall structure looks to be in good shape. The second half of our home was built in 2002 and was permitted so Farshid looked under the crawl space to verify that there was structural reinforcement present. He confirmed this for us. He gave some good suggestions on what we should do with the side of our home that has a lot of dirt and is on a slope. We are installing rain gutters and will be eventually hiring some landscapers to create some type of hard scape to allow the water to drain down to the alley. He told me that since tree house was in pretty good shape he didn't feel it was necessary to do an official report. He charged half of what we previously agreed to. I needed to attain a foundation inspection for a VA loan on a manufactured home.
