DON'T GO HERE. GO TO WAVES IN PLAINFIELD, CT! THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED STYLIST AND GOOD MANAGEMENT THAT CARES ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!
I had been going to this salon almost monthly for either a massage or an all over color/cut until this past week. Like I said, I would only get an 'all over color' done as the stylists were levels 1 and 2 and I typically don't venture for more unless I know the service will be great. But, I had a really horrible experience with both my hair and the owner this week. First, I was getting highlights which were not meant to be very blonde (stylist said she would never recommend me going very blonde)c, and then when she checked the foils my hair was super blonde and she told me to 'trust the process' - fine. Then after it was washed and we got to the chair it was obvious that something went wrong. The hair around my face was white/blonde and the length was ORANGE! I was not showing my emotion because I was waiting for the stylist to address it, to which she only said 'if I dry it and we decide it's too light we can go darker' - I said ok, skeptically. Before she was finished drying it she stopped and said 'we need to go darker'. To which I was VERY nervous for and lost total confidence because this really should have been simple. Also, there really was no contrast for the highlights throughout the rest of my hair and if you looked at the photo I brought - it was EXTREMELY off base. Keep in mind, I had a Zoom call at 7am the next day and was not going to chance looking like this on a call. So I decided to do an all over dark, which she did and the front of my hair still turned out brassy. While I was waiting for my dye to set she said 'ten minutes in the dryer, ten off'. That time had past and another customer came in, she expected me to wait to have this woman's hair done before getting to mine! I have been there since 4:15pm and it was already after 7 and I had to cancel my plans and she was going to have me wait even though she confirmed that the longer the dye set it wasn't going to get darker so I was only waiting because she chose to inconvenience me instead of the other person. She never apologized or admitted that she made a mistake or anything and the other people working there went from talking with me, to avoiding eye contact because it obviously bad! After my dark hair was dried they tried charging me $180 for a medium highlight, 2 all over refreshers, 2 shampoos and hair drying and some other thing too. I was shocked and said I shouldn't be paying for anything I'm not leaving with or for the stylists errors. She went and talked to the owner, Doug Tabor (who I bought my house from) in 2019, and he said all they could do was discount me for 1 refresher! I disagreed - that is bas business. Their competitors will correct issues and charge you for only the product (about $12) rather than $70 for the service to be fixed and the remaining product. He also told his front desk worker that if I didn't pay the total - the stylist wouldn't get paid. First off, the owner should be taking the loss. Second, do not put the responsibility of your employees getting paid onto the customer! I told the worker I'd like to talk to him away from where the stylist was cutting someone's hair so they wouldn't feel uncomfortable and instead, he called his wife and had the front desk worker relay more info to me. THAT IS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. To be a coward and make your front desk worker who cannot make decisions by herself come talk to me, instead of dealing with my while your vanity plated car was sitting in the no parking zone outside IS TERRIBLE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND RUDE. Message received - my feelings, distress, time and money did NOT matter to this guy, instead he cared more about holding on to some of his money than ensuring that his customers received the quality services that they asked for the first time. He continued to have the front desk worked talk to me instead and also said if I didn't change course it would be a different issue. In what world, would I want someone to continue making my hair look Eminem's circa 2000? I lost confidence in the worker and anyone else would have too. I was cutting my losses and walking out with almost the same hair color I walked in with, when I was looking for something entirely different.
While I was there, I had made 2 appts for massages and cancelled both. I am blown away that someone could continue to avoid talking first hand with a customer and then charge them for their employees mistakes. Consider if you ordered food at a restaurant and the server dropped the food in front of you, then brought out a meal that was different to replace what you ordered and then charged you for both and NEVER APOLOGIZED or gave you any kind of amends for the future.
I will never go back, and it partly because my hair looked terrible and still has signs of brassy color in my bangs, and because of the terrible business management from Doug. read more
