We had them handle our home inspection for our first home purchase a little more than a year ago as…read morethey had high reviews. They were friendly and easy to work with, however shortly after taking possession of the home we discovered there was extensive water damage in the primary bathroom that the home inspector had missed. This required tearing out the primary shower, remediating extensive mold behind the walls, and rebuilding it at great expense (this was a ~$20k repair). The primary shower is over a ground floor deck. There were visible signs of water dripping - water spots - on the ceiling above the deck. The inspector would have easily noticed this critical issue had he run the shower for 30min and walked downstairs and looked at the ceiling above the deck as water visibility dripped through - or if he had looked up and noticed the existing old water spots. Or if he had used a thermal camera. I hope he is doing this in his future inspections. Further, there were some signs of very small, limited water damage on the first floor bathroom that did make it into the report - but that's only because I pointed it out on the day of the inspection. I have attached photos of the water spots on the ceiling above the deck that were visible at the time of inspection and were missed in the report. This was a big thing to miss. I've also attached a photo that shows what we found behind the walls of the shower (the black part is damage and mold) - given this, I think this issue was pre-existing with the home and had been slowly worsening over a long period before the inspection took place. I'm not an expert in NACHI standards and A Buyer's Choice says they performed the inspection up to NACHI standards. Given our experience, for protecting the biggest purchase we'll ever make, I wish we had gone with someone who went above and beyond the standards (or at least examined the ceilings under the showers more closely). I would not use them again and do not recommend them.
