Jose is so talented! I can see from his work that he really is passionate. He's a good listener when hearing out what you want. Very patient and soft to the touch when handling your hair. Do not be intimated from a man doing your hair. Not to mention some of the best hairstylist are man! He's done my hair from highlights, light ombre, pastel pink, to dusty lavender and i always love it! I get compliments all the freaken time! Iv been going to Rosa for over 5 years. My sister an I had lost our stylist and one day just stumbled across her place an we've been coming back ever since. My whole family comes to her now. She's very honest and has worked miracles on my hair. Iv damaged my hair pretty badly from changing colors constantly. She was able to give me back my beautiful vibrant cherry red even after I had died it brunette. She even was able to make it ombré into a soft melon color at the bottoms and my hair is still soft an intact. She's done my hair for prom, graduation, an my brother wedding. I trust no one else to touch my hair but Rosa. Same with Debra. Been seeing her for years and she always has something fun and creative for me. She takes great care if my nails and is very quick. I have been gettin my hair cut by Rosa for a very long time, would not go anywhere else. I had an appointment right before LA county restrictions went into effect and she had taken all precautions. As you enter, she had a table with hand sanitizer, wipes and masks upon request. Only one client at a time inside the salon. She had partitions set up and she wore a mask at all times. This review is for the nail salon part of the business only. I hesitated to write for a long time, because I felt bad for the nice (but not very competent) woman who did my nails. But this was the source of the absolute worst manicure/pedicure I have every received, in so many ways. I found a voucher for a manicure and pedicure for only $10 (regularly $20), from Voice Daily Deals. Even $20 would be a great value for a mani-pedi, so I happily purchased a voucher for me and one for a friend. I called to make an appointment for 2 people for 3:00 PM, figuring we would be done in about an hour, and I could drive back home before rush hour hit. My friend and I arrived, and found easy parking in a parking lot adjacent to the salon. Then things took a turn for the weird. The nail station is in a small room that has the vibe of a closet (as things are being stored in there.) There's a comfy-ish chair on which to sit . . . and an overturned bucket, with another bucket on top, that you're supposed to soak your feet in. This is an unusual set-up, but it wouldn't be so much of a problem were the angles better -- as it is, you have to perch rather precariously on the edge of the chair, holding your legs at a strange angle to actually fit them into the bucket of tap-warm water. The closet-salon can only accommodate one person at a time, which makes sense since there's only one nail technician who works there. And she is a lovely, friendly lady who loves to talk. The problem is she does not stop talking. And the problem with this is she talks with her hands, and *stops what she is doing* every time she says something. So she works on your nails for a minute, talks to you for two minutes, works on your nails for a minute, talks for two. She also talked about things like her recent surgery, in overly great detail. Not exactly the sort of thing you typically talk to strangers about. After my friend had her toenails painted while I waited awkwardly around, then I had my toenails painted while she waited awkwardly around, it was time for manicures. And the same work one minute, talk two minutes pattern continued. The manicure was also not very good -- it was a bit sloppy, and there was no drying station (only a mini fan that we were instructed to awkwardly hold our fingers in front of.) The woman pushed us out rather quickly after our nails were (finally) done, and not quite dry, and a big chip peeled off of my nail as I was driving home -- at this point, over 2 hours after I had arrived (and well into rush hour.) Even for $10, I can't say it was worth it. I actually look back on this day with warm feelings now, as it was comically bad and makes for a good story . . . read more

If I could give Distinctive Manner 6 stars, I would. I have been going to Rosa for 18 years, I LOVE my hair!!! She cuts, colors and puts a treatment on my hair everytime she does my hair, I do not let anyone else do my hair, I always make my appointment 6 weeks before, make sure you call a couple of weeks before you plan on going in there. The entire staff is so super nice and welcoming, like family! I have been treating my hair all my life and it's in such good shape because of Rosa! Her prices are very reasonable, the salon is always neat and clean, parking is super easy, the salon is right off the freeway and you will walk out of there feeling like a million bucks! read more

I have been getting my hair done by Rosa for about 3 years. I was never loyal to one hair stylist until I came to her after my sister-in-law and mother-in-law recommended her. I feel like Rosa knew my hair immediately. Most of the time I have an idea of what I want done but have a really hard time explaining it. Rosa always figures it out - and when she makes a suggestion it always ends up looking better than what I had in mind. I also love that her prices are so reasonable. Before finding Rosa I went to some places that charged more than twice as much but left me disappointed. Most recently I came to Rosa to get my hair done for my wedding. I brought like 8 different pictures of hairstyles I liked, although none was exactly what I wanted. Rosa figured it out and I could not have been happier, it was beautiful!! The one tip I can give - set an appointment well ahead of time!! When I do try to get in a hair cut for a last minute special event - it doesn't always work out because Rosa is BUSY. read more

This place is great. I've been coming to Rosa for a few years now and she ALWAYS does an amazing job with my hair. I've never done my hair with any of the others working here, but I've heard they're very good, too. The salon is super cute. They even have a room, adjacent to the waiting area, where your little ones can play while you get your hair done. My daughter is 9 and she LOVES coming here. She gets her hair done, and if she's been good, she gets a feather hair extension. (They've lasted up to two months in her hair!) It's hard to find a good hair salon with decent prices... I Highly recommend this place. I went in as a walk in and was greeted kindly. The owner Rosa was able to fit me in. I never felt rushed or that money and time was an issue.Rosa was gentle, kind, thorough, professional and honest. She explained each step and always checked as to what my expectation was. even though I was a walk inimmediately felt welcomed in as a friend. I didnt plan on getting my nails done as well though once I met Debra I also got my nails done. Debra was so kind, gentle, went the extra mile. She was very personable though extemely professional. This review is for Jose. I walked in looking for a colorist to fix the job my regular stylist did. My regular stylist tried twice to color my hair with highlights and never did it right nor did she understand what i wanted. And, she left the sides and the back dark with no highlights. It looked really silly. Jose took me as a walk in and when i explained what I wanted, he knew. It is amazing. I am going to get my hair cut by him next time also and a coloring. read more

So in the beginning of this year I wanted to do something different. I had asked for a blue-ish/silver ombré. After almost 8.5 hours I got a washed out silver where you can still see the blonde (from the ombré) underneath which made it look greenish. After that time, I kept coming back to ask for a grey/silver color. The second time I went in I explained that as well as mentioning I don't want to see ANY blue in my hair because I realized how quickly it turns green. Once I was done, I came out with ALL BLUE HAIR dye..... idk what went wrong but I got a color I completely asked not to get. (Didn't get charged that time). The last time I went in I still wanted grey/silver ombré. After he finished it still wasn't the color I wanted so he had to add more colors to finally get the one I wanted (two treatments/process in one sitting). I get it, it's hard to achieve certain colors when you have naturally dark hair and have had color before but it should NOT take a stylist THREE TIMES to get the color you ask for. I have long and thick hair. Every time Jose did my hair it looked cool but it wasn't what I wanted until the third try.... wouldn't recommend so much for bold colors read more
