I was in search of something that is truly a jewel when it comes to hunting labs, and I was told by many breeders that what I was in search of something that simply did not exist. That was until I contacted John Tate. (owner of Hunters Creek retrievers) John was really talking up this litter in particular I was looking at. His famous quote I remember him saying when talking to him on the phone was, "These dogs are like computers, all the software you need is in there, you simply have to access it." This could not have been more true. I purchased Buck from John in mid March when Buck was 11 weeks old. Buck had already undergone the "puppy head start training program" for the previous three weeks. This course included the learning of: here, heal, sit, stay; with hand signals, verbal, and whistle commands. From their I trained Buck myself with the help of a particular mentor who offered me priceless knowledge and years of experience in helping me achieve my goal of training my own hunting dog. Four years later, Buck has picked up well over 2,000 birds and is an absolute tank. From diving after cripples, to 250+ yard water blinds in icy water, the dog can do it all. I run a duck hunting guide service so Buck sees 35-40 hunts a season and he just eats it up, truly I could hunt the rest of my life and never pick up a gun again and just work dogs like this and get more enjoyment than shooting the birds. Previous to now, I had never trained a dog, and now, Buck being the level of a master hunter, offers a true testament to the trainability of the dogs that John breeds for. They told me that the store makes custom dog clothes. My dog is really short and fat. I wasn't sure what to expect when I pulled up to an industrial warehouse. Pros: I love this store. It's so perfect. I didn't need to make custom clothes for my dogs. She had it. They also do the same for all clients purchasing big bag order, from chicken feed to pine and cedar shavings. Randy is an expert at planting and is always willing to give any advice to your plant questions or even if you have questions about how to care for the plants your purchase from the feed store. Aside from that, they also sell real organic eggs, and will be greeted by the "friendly" chicken staff (chickens they have around the property) to help the ensure you get the full feed store vibe. While walking around the store, I have also noticed they sell an array of insecticides, to help cure your lawn and fight against unwanted insects in the yard from simple roaches and fleas to more complex problems of termites and bed bugs. I have overheard the staff give their advice to fellow customers with any questions they may have about the pesticide they are purchasing. Their knowledge also expands to educations customers on the different type of dog foods they sell, depending on your dogs or cats diet, and the ultimate goal for the dog. From grain free high quality dog food, to lower cost high qualify, any dog food to fit any budget they offer. They also have vaccines for pets, and worm/flea preventative pills for dogs of all weight classes.
