Here in the Gulf Coast, it's "NOW IMPERATIVE" that you plant ONLY IN THE FALL [OCT is ideal], and NOT IN THE SPRING. Reason is, that the past few years have had [and MAY continue to have] BRUTAL SPRINGS [meaning... July/August HEAT in April/May]. A tree planted in the Spring has absolutely no chance to develop a new root system capable to supporting that tree for the rest of a [potential] very HOT year. A tree planted in the FALL will have upwards to 5-6 months of cooler/cold weather to grow a root system. Yes!! Trees continue to grow their roots even if they've dropped all their leaves. Notice that that 1 star review was made in May of '22; that was not the fault of BVTree Farm. That was the 1st year of high heat in Spring. Who Knew!! Times [weather] have changed, and we need to change as well. By the way, this is just my opinion, and I do not represent, and/or am I compensated by BVTree farm. I'm 83 yrs old, and I try not to make the same "mistake" twice; I purchased an [on-line/delivered from out of state] tree in Spring of '21, and it failed due to the NEW heat issue. I plan on purchasing a new tree this week, and will get that sucker in ground by mid Oct. Good luck with your choices..

We paid over $100 for it. Talked to them and they don't do refunds or exchanges. Blamed it on "Mother Nature". Also they are not always open during stated business hours. Long drive out to find they are closed. Won't be doing business there. Buyer beware.

The price is far lower than any places in Austin. It's a little drive out there but it wasn't bad at all. Workers came to deliver and planted them in our front and backyard. Very professional. Everything went smoothly and we can't wait for spring to come soon!!!

Disappointed in a company that I have recommended many times…read more My wife and I were looking for a new tree for our front yard several years ago and we came across PermaVista Trees in Brenham. We took a trip to view their trees and decided on a Shumard Red Oak Tree. They delivered the tree and planted it for us. The first year the tree looked okay, but didn't bud when other Shumard's in the area budded. We just thought, it's newly planted and didn't think much more about it. The next year, half of the tree budded, but the other half took another month to bud leaves. This year half of the tree is dead and the other half is showing stress. Knowing now there is an issue, we called an arborist to come take a look at the tree. After his review he said that whomever planted the tree didn't plant it correctly. He said that trees grown in containers need to have their curved roots cut and some of the initial dirt dislodged or the curved roots will continue to twist - cutting off water and nutrients needed by the tree to grow correctly. Sadly, I called Permavista this morning to let them know about my situation and to have them remind their staff that plant trees for them to plant them correctly - so what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else in the future. At first they seem uninterested and didn't really say anything on the phone. Thought wow ... I just wasted two years growing time and $600 on a once thriving tree until they planted it incorrectly. They did follow up with a text, but only with an offer to buy another tree. Then they went on to explain how the tree should have been planted. Well ... we all know how it should have been planted - but your staff didn't do that. They just cut the container away and dumped it in the hole they just dug. I didn't expect a new tree out of the deal, but I would have loved for them to take responsibility and offer to dig up the tree and plant it correctly. They just said, we will let our manager know. Guess I won't be recommending them in the future. Sad - since they have nice trees and staff. But not worth it if the crew which plants the trees don't know what they are doing.
