Driving down the freeway had a flat tire. I put the donut spare on the van . I looked up on yelp to find out where there was a place to fix a flat. As I know you can't drive far or fast with the donut. They were courteous and took the tire in informed me that they would check to see if the tire could be repaired. They said the tire repair would be free. That's very nice. I had to leave the tire there as they were really busy. Within two hours, they called back and said that the tire was not repairable. They asked me to call them and they would help me get another tire. I returned the next day, and they brought the tire to my vehicle and the rim . Buying a tire, however, I do have a road hazard agreement with Bill Pierce Honda so it was not necessary. Bill Pierce verified that the tire was not repairable . Fast friendly courteous can't ask for more. I should've checked to see the price of the tire. To see if it was a good value. read more

They even threaded a bolt and then gave me a free work order form.to go to another ship that replaces them. The best part its a local shop. So they support other locals. They got us in right away, fixed the bolt and we were on our way. They are always honest about my tires amd its safety. As a female I trust and feel they support me without trying to sell me things I dont need. They even would tell me when they recommend a tire change. Never making you feel forced. I rotate the tires twice a year, or as needed. They monitor its health and once a new one is needed, I order it online and book the appointment. Since the writing of the original review, The store owner reached out to make the situation right. Within a couple days I was in touch with corporate and they offered to reimburse me for the repair costs to my vehicle. Which they did in full. Honestly this is a 10/10 recovery. I have adjusted this review accordingly. Thank you for reaching out and making this right again. I appreciate it, and I may be returning to your store at a future date, possibly for some new tires! Original review below. vvv Had these guys install my winter tires, which were already on rims. Simple swap. The previous shop that put the summer tires on cross threaded 1 bolt. This shop contacted me and informed me they would have to break the bolt to get the wheel on. Understandable. Go ahead. I had the lug and stud replaced by my usual shop. No issue. the shop did find one that Discount Tire put on that was broken. that was replaced too. (~$200 fix, keep this in mind) Fast forward to May. I want my summer tires on. I get the tools to do it myself (~$200 for the tools) After attempting to remove a single wheel myself, i discovered 2 cross threaded bolts. I stopped and ended up taking it to a shop. HERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT 5 BOLTS WERE SEVERELY CROSS THREADED. To the point where the shop working on it called me to inform me that the initial estimate of $345 would now have to be $691. I even went and bought the correct studs and lugs for them to replace the broken ones. So in total, of the 20 lugs and studs on my car, they managed to ruin 6 of them. 30% of the parts holding my wheels on were effectively broken. Imagine getting a flat somewhere, With all those cross threaded bolts you couldn't change the tire. You would have been stranded. In total, costing me OVER A GRAND to fix their botched wheel swap. Because they didn't thread the lugs on correctly and just jammed the lugs into the wheel with the air wrench and called it a day. read more

Service has started to slip at this location, hence my update. Recently I placed an order for a set of tires and wheels online to be picked up in store. I received a total of 3 calls from them stating that my order was ready to be picked up. I get down there to find out my order was not ready, nor was it even complete with parts still waiting to ship. Frustrating to say the least, not to mention this place is short on parking so on busy days you may just have to leave and come back at a different time because there isn't anywhere to park. A couple of weeks ago I was on my way to work driving on the freeway when my truck told me that one of my tires was losing air rapidly. I took the nearest exit to me and pulled over to check my tire. I could visibly see something protruding from my tire and hear the air escaping rapidly. Since I had originally purchased my tires at the Carson City Discount Tire, I looked online to see if I was close to one in Reno. Luckily, I was less than half a mile away from a location at that time. I pulled into the parking lot to a safe location to begin changing the tire myself because it was early in the morning around 6:45am and the location wasn't supposed to open until 8am. To my surprise an employee approached me and asked if everything was ok. I explained and showed him the issue with my tire; but he apologized and said that they didn't open until 8am. I proceeded to attempt to drop my spare tire from under my truck, when not even a minute later the employee had returned and said "go ahead and pull it in to the 1st bay and I'll check it out." It was still only around 7am (an hour before the business opens) and he had my truck in the bay with tire off to be inspected. He acted fast, precise and professionally and had my tire repaired and back on my truck within minutes. The employee's name is Teddy and he certainly saved me a lot of time and hassle of not having to do change my tire and come back again later to have it repaired. He didn't have to help me because the shop wasn't even open yet, but he decided to help me anyway. Not all discount tires are created equally. As a frequent customer of discount tire, I can confirm many times over that the service and employees at this location is top notch in town. I live in NW Reno and I prefer to drive across town to this location vs the newer bigger location by my house because the employees here treat me better and don't push services/purchases that are unnecessary. So we were driving in Reno, and next thing you know, we hear something like a pop noise, and we don't know what to do, so we just drive around a little bit, and our tire gauge tells us that our tires are running low on air. So I looked for the nearest tire place near me, and this place came up, so we drove there right away, and they had a place where you could drive through to check air on your tires right away. The guy walked around and came out and noticed that we had a screw inside of our front tire and told us we needed to go in and talk to them. So we did that, and within an hour it was fully repaired and didn't cost anything. They were super helpful, really nice, and got us in and out with amazing service. They also do free air checks, sell rims, and replace wiper blades. read more

As a traveler, I always want to feel secure going to the same company but in a different city and this was not the case in Carson City and I would NOT recommend that location. The Carson City location made me wait almost 45 minutes for an air check and then told me to come back at then end of the day if I wanted to get new tires. Several employees including the manager had walked past me several times before telling me how long I would be waiting. Within 2 days of getting the tires, ran over dropped tire chains in snow over the summit and damaged one of the new tires. DO NOT BUY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS HERE!! I went in to have my tires rotated like I always do here and they asked if I wanted to replace my windshield wipers, I was in need of new ones anyway so I said sure why not. Not even a full 3 days later and the wiper blades completely fell apart in the middle of a blizzard going over Donner Summit!! Of course I can't just stop using what's left of the blades so I have to continue to use them until I'm out of the storm. Once I'm at my final destination I notice three huge scratch marks all the way across my windshield where the wires were supposed to be.... Needless to say I will never buy from this place again. I have to say that I am now a lifetime customer of Discount Tire after my last experience with them. Their customer service is about as good as any I have encountered in any business. They went over all of the choices of tires for my SUV, focusing on what we wanted, which was a quiet ride, but an all-season that could handle going over the mountain to get to Tahoe in the winter safely. We knew they would have to special order the tires, so they gave us a date (four days later) which was right on. Then they called, asked us to bring in the car to get the tire put on. Told us it would take about 4 to 4 1/2 hours. They delivered in 3 1/2. The tires delivered a quiet ride with great traction. Still, the best part was the way my wife and I were treated but the guy at the front desk. Will always make Discount Tire my first choice when replacing any of our cars tires. read more

Ordered and paid for tires and had an appointment set for June 5th. I arrive for my appointment and they don't have the tires. After an hour they found some tires in stock in Carson City which was 30 miles away. I agreed to go to Carson for the tires and when I asked for directions, I was told they didn't know where it was and the manager started helping another customer. Will was has helpful as he could be but the manager and the rest of the staff were extremely rude. I've never been here before, but I'm sure that if I had a need that I would be back. I did a walk-in on Saturday morning to have two tires/wheels mounted and balanced. They gave me a price of $44 which to me was pretty good, and that it would be about an hour and a half wait. No problem! You get a link via a text to track how the progress was going, which was super convenient! They were actually 15 minutes early! I'm a long time discount tire customer. This time though was one for the books. I purchased 4 snow tires, had them mounted and balanced. Full bill just over 1500.00. When I left the dealer the problems began. Warning lights indicated there was a problem with tire pressure. I was unable to stop the repeated message. Worse however was I was driving on a highway at rush hour when I needed to hit the breaks. Imagine my suprise when I was hit in the head by a tire that had been placed standing rather than on it's side. I was fortunate to not get into an accident. Ten minutes later I was able to safely get off the road and store the tires properly. Fortunately not accident. The answer from management there was come back to the store and they would forgive the price on one tire. I will never go back to the store that could have killed me. read more
