Had a slow leak on one tire on my wife's Traverse. Took it in, they assessed it quickly and found a nail in the sidewall. Due to the nail being on the sidewall I had to have a new tire. I had their warranty, which is a great choice to get by the way. The tire replacement did not cost a penny. I'd strongly recommend getting their warranty for nothing else but piece of mind. They had a new tire on, balanced and the like in no time. Why do we go back to Discount Tire in Portland, because these guys practice Customer Service! They are fast, proper, polite, knowledgeable and let you know what is going on. These guys are great. This is what keeps me coming back. I would highly recommend them to anyone. So I've been here a couple of times. No issues until this past time. I came in and spent 2k on new tires for my truck and another 500 for my wife's car. We dropped both vehicles off. And came back when they were ready. Prior just getting the tires, I washed my truck the day before. I backed the truck into a spot with no cars next to me. When I returned to get my truck the young kid asked me if I could pull out my truck from the Bay since my truck was manual transmission. That raised my radar didn't think anything if it. I pulled it out and pulled to the front and got out to talk to my wife when another employee came running up on the drivers side and started looking at the tire. I asked him what was going on and he said he just wanted to make sure the lights nuts were tight. Another radar but didn't think anything if it. So I went home parked my truck and left in my wife's car. When we returned I noticed a huge scrape and dent on the passenger side that I didn't notice when I left. Explains why they kid came running out so I wouldn't go around and see it as well as why they wanted me to pull it out. Normally they pull it up in front for us. Had they done that I would have seen the damage. It even still had the workers grease print from his palm. So I went in the next day they were opened since they were closed when I noticed it and filed a report. Well what do you know??? Conveniently they have no cameras!!! They took the report, I was contacted by corporate to file my claim. Within a few hours they responded and said the adjust doesn't show they were at fault but would offer $400 toward my deductible for my insurance. Needless to say, I will never shop at any discount tire again. If they can't own up to damages they cause after I spend $2500 with them then I rather not do business with them. You figure they would have cameras to protect themselves but turns out they DONT have to cameras to protect themselves.! read more

I have purchased my tires from Discount Tire for several years now. I always choose to buy from Discount Tire for one reason and one reason only, the customer service. What good is saving a few bucks if the company doesn't stand behind their product ? Over the years, I have had occasion to use the warranty on a tire, and have been more than pleasantly surprised at how fairly I was treated by Discount Tire. I dont even shop around anymore. If I need a tire, I just go to the nearest DT store and get them. With that said, let me tell you what happened to us over the Thanksgiving holiday to show you that the customer service at Discount really does go beyond just making a buck. I had travelled eight hours from Midland, Texas to Portland, Texas to enjoy the holiday week fishing with my family on the Gulf and to pick up a used kayak and trailer I had purchased to bring home. When I picked up the trailer and kayak early in the week before Thanksgiving Day, there were no problems with the tires. Everything seemed OK and I drove all over the Coastal Bend area that week with no issues. I had brought a couple of the little 12 inch tires that you can get at any sporting good store with me in case there was a problem with the originals. Upon trying to leave on the Saturday morning after Thanksgiving, I decided to top these tires off with air for the 8 hr trip home. The very second that I started putting air in the tires one of the valves fell off and the other tire started leaking like a snake hissing. I thought, "Wow, good thing I'm prepared and have two spares. I'll switch these out and we'll be on our way." Well, a half an hour later I was still trying to get the first lug nut unstuck, even with a whole can of penetrating oil. Years of the kayak trailer being in the salt air had caused all of the lugs to be rusted shut. I had no idea how I was going to get home with the trailer. That's when my wife said "Hey, there's a Discount Tire right down the block let's go see if they can help." I thought, it's the busiest travel weekend of the year, it's a Saturday morning, and even if they agree to work on tires that they did not sell, it'll be at least a five or six hour wait and we're going to have to get another hotel room just to be able to get these tires on. I limped the trailer the two blocks to Discount Tire. A man named Diego walked up to me and said "How can I help you sir?" I told him right then that I was probably going to turn out to be the biggest pain in the rear end he'd have all day. That I had a major problem, I was stuck with a wife, a kid, three dogs and two kayaks already loaded and no way to get home without a lot of help. I told him I'd pay anything if he would help me. He looked at the tires and said "So you want to switch the tires you have for these old ones?" I said "Yep." Diego said "Oh man, I thought you said you had a problem! This is easy! Just pull around the side." Five minutes later he had the tires switched and said "You're good to go." I said "OK, let's go inside and get you paid for it." Diego said "No charge Jon, glad to help." I want the owners and managers of Discount Tire to know that this kind of customer service is exactly what is missing in most companies and that because you give your employees a little leeway to help people in need is why I always have, and always will shop only at Discount Tire. Diego saved my family a lot of money and at least an entire day by taking five minutes to help a stranded family trying to get home safely. I know this is been a very very long review but I just wanted you to know as long as I live I will tell all who will listen about the true customer service they'll find shopping with your company. I'm posting it on Yelp, Facebook, The BBB, snd I'm sending it to all my clients, most of whom have fleets of vehicles. He scheduled an appointment for me. I arrived a few minutes early and they were really busy. He got me right in and before I could finish my lunch at a restaurant next door, I received a text that my vehicle was ready for pickup. We were stuck w a shredded tire on our sprinter van in Aransas Pass. We had a mechanic help us lift and change the tire with our spare, called Discount tire ahead of time and they had a new full size spare ready for us when we got there. Wonderful service. Just go to a local shop, you will be better off. Sales guys are nice but it's just one charge after another and once they take tires off if they feel like they aren't good anymore or as I was told "have a little life left" but we can't put them back on, Company policy. I don't know where you would find better customer service. I've been to two other discount tires and was pleased with my service but Stefan and Joshua G are just a cut above the rest at the shop in Portland. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes and the work is completed in a timely, efficient manner. They are courteous and informative...great at explaining things such as the difference between types of tires. I know nothing about that but I sure know where to go if I have a question!
