I shop tires fairly hard both for quality and price and in the last five years I have used the Southmore location to buy 6 sets of tires for different cars. Each time this location has exceeded my expectations. I noticed each Discount tire location adopts the personality of its manager and in this case Robert, the manager is at another level. When I arrived this last time and parked he happen to met me within 10 seconds, I thought this might be something special, but he told me he was just doing what he normally does each day. Once he evaluated my needs and we decided on a set of tires it only took his team 30 minutes to install and me to drive away. Based on my observation I was impressed with the work ethic of the front end sales people and the installers and it is evident Robert sets the tone of this group. I went to the place to have a low tire checked and repaired if needed. An associate came out and "checked" all of my tires and told me my two front tires were at a "Five" and I needed to have them replaced. I questioned his assessment because I had them rotated two weeks ago at another Discount Tire and they were all at a "7". He gave a a story about tires wearing down and there is a sale in the Michelin tires. I decided to go to another newer store in LaPorte Texas closer to my mother's house and have them checked again. The associate assessment was at a 7 like my regular Discount Tire in Bastrop Texas said they were originally . He could not explain why the Southmore location gave me a lower rating and recommended new tires. Basically do not go to the Southmore location if you want honest service. Crazy or brilliant... The jury is still out! I often refer to a high level of customer service as excellent customer care because the effort and dedication shown is above and beyond. But this place has set an even higher standard. We will call it human compassion. I pulled up with a screw in my tire... Obviously screwed. As they were fixing it I watched, no plug... A patch. A new valve stem. Mounted. Balanced. And I am adding this up in my head. $50 at least. They finished with the tite then checked all the other tires tightening the lugs. I help out my credit card and the service manager broke the news to me... free! Yes Free. He told me that repairs are free at all of their locations because they want me to be safe. The temper has been dropping this week and so has my tire pressure. 3 dropped a few psi but one has dropped 10 psi so I took it in and had the tire checked out. There was nothing Visual in the tire and he took my back to see there was no bubbles under the water. He offered to take the tire off the rim and check it out but I declined that for now. I arrived at the nearest Discount Tire shop at 6:00pm and was greeted with the same positive energy as I would have had I arrived hours before closing. I cannot thank the amazing people at this store enough for their kindness and willingness to get my tire taken care of when it was time for them to get to go home and get out of this insane heat we've been having. I will never come to this discount tire. There are no signs on where to go to get air check. I waited for 5 minutes for someone to come to my car and nothing. Then a Jeep cut me off and went in the air check. I'm back to waiting. read more

I arrived inside the establishment and immediately was greeted and assisted by Victor! He was very nice and knowledgeable. I went in just to get my tires balanced because I was driving two hours away pretty soon after and HAD to have that fixed. Luckily, I went early enough and only had about 2 others ahead of me. I arrived prepared with a charged phone and some earphones just in case I got bored. Before I even knew it, i was told my car was going to be worked on. I was recommended a new tire and new bolts? (Forgive my lack of knowledge). I usually say no but if it prevents me from needing more work on my tires then why not. I was given good reason as well so I didn't just blindly accept. So, this is the deal. My front right tire had been losing air. The TPMS icon would come up due to low pressure. I took my car to discount tire and the guy just quickly tested my tires and told me I definitely needed to change the two front tires! What!? It turns out that one of the back tires needed changing too. One had a hole, like a piece was missing.. he asked me about it and I told him that I had hit a curve. Well, I didn't want to tell him that it was more like three or four curves. He then asked me if I hit the same curve with the front left tire, since it had a similar indentation. It's not really my fault! Those curves were just in the wrong place at the wrong time! Can all these obstacles just move out of my way!? Geez, I'm trying to speed!!! lol! To make a long story short, I was told my Michelin tires cost about $286 a piece. I didn't have time to wait that day, so I shopped around and researched different tires. I ended up buying Yokohama, since they were much less expensive and had similar qualities. I went back to Discount tire because I felt they didn't want to just sell me tires. The guy who helped me, was actually very nice and answered all of my questions. I needed tires that could take high speeds as I need to get to Austin in 1 and 1/2 hours if possible. Also, I hate tires that make a lot of noise so, my tires had to be good enough not to make extra noise. I left my car there and 45 minutes later it was done. All four tires were changed and I got a $40 mail in rebate (which I plan to collect!). All in all a good experience.. I had purchased tires from them before and never had a complaint about them... they are A-OK in my book! We bought warranty on all 4 and tried using it on 2. Told us they were voided due to condition but we were never told what would void it. They simply had told us when we needed new ones that they would be taken care. All they were doing was sell sell sell and not providing important info. Great Service! Went in around 10:30am on Good Friday (they were going to be closed from 12noon-3pm to observe the holiday) ordered 4 Michelin tires that they had to special order from the manufacturer to be delivered, I received a call that same day at 5pm stating they received the tires and were ready to install them! I raced up there, had them installed with great customer service, they answered all my questions, and the manager was so nice and was seen helping and interacting with both the crew and patrons. Thank you so much! I wish I had cash to tip the guys working on my car, but I don't carry any on me, so opted to write this review so others can know what a great experience I had. I love this place. My tire was very bad with the treads were coming out and I had to get a new tire. I got a appointment and a brand new tire. I asked if they can put another tire that is brand new which I got from another place on the rear and they had no problem doing that for me. While I was waiting he mentioned to me that another tire was going bad and needs to be replaced ASAP. Went to this location to have my rim replaced that was ordered and it was discovered that I had a heat ring in my tire. The manager Mickey explained what that was because I had never heard of it. He told me that it was in the rear right tire and I said oh that's the tire I just purchased from you all in August. He looks it up and he asks is it the Yokohama sport I said yes and I looked up the receipt of purchase on my email and told him yes you all replaced that tire August 21, 2018. So he looks to see if he has the tire in stock but finds it at the Pearland location. He says we can put an equivalent or order this one that I see. So say well if it's safe to drive I'll just go over there but will you call to let them know I'm on my way so they have the tire once I'm there. So he says yeah I'll call them. Then he goes in to tell me that I must have driven on the tire at some point while flat for it do that and I said no I haven't it's the tire you all just replaced in August. Then he says well you must have had that tire rotated because it's not the tire we replaced. I told him yes it is and I haven't had my tires rotated. So then we walk outside to the bay to look at it. Then he says the front right tire is the tire we replaced because the tire with the heat ring is a 2016 tire. So I said well then you all sold me used tire and had me pay the price of a new one because I have my receipt and the tire you replaced was my rear right. Then he says all of our tires have serial numbers so we know our tires. Meanwhile I insist that I have my receipt to prove the tire with the heat ring is the tire they sold me in August. So I finally told him it's fine I go to Pearland. By mistake I went to the wrong Pearland (I was at the Pearland East location but eventually made it to the West location)location but when they compared the tire to the invoice on the computer, the tire with the heat ring was the tire that was replaced in August by the Southmore location. When I explained to the rep what Mickey said, the rep at the Pearland location said that is the tire I'm looking at on the computer. Needless to say I felt totally relieved because Mickey was obviously trying say I didn't know what I was talking about or I was lying about the tire when in fact he was the liar. I know I'm a woman but I know a little about cars. I also know that new tires are always placed in the rear. It just so happened that the tire I needed replaced in August was the rear right. I don't appreciate the way I was treated by Mickey. It was completely unacceptable. My tire was under warranty so I'm not sure why he would give me such a hard time about it even though I had the receipt in my email to prove the tire with the heat ring was the tire his store replaced in August. Word to the wise if you're a woman don't go to this location. They obviously think we're idiots and will try to rip you off. I've taken my vehicles to discount tire for the past 20 years or so and never have I ever been treated and insulted in this manner. read more

Update: The store offered a refund for the difference in tires. Sill a pain but they did what they could to make it right. Might be back if the opportunity comes up. Original: They lost a long time customer yesterday. I've purchased about 6-8 tires from this Discount location in years past but they've lost my business. I dropped my truck off to get them to check out a low pressure warning from my TPMS. I called back in after 30 minutes and the service tech said "45 minutes". Two hours later and no phone call so I call in and the tech says "oh that's been done". Not a huge deal, just annoying. I show up to pick my truck up expecting to get the keys and go and I'm handed a $133 bill. The tech found the hole in the sidewall and was unable to patch. Instead of calling to ask how i'd like to proceed, they just decided on their own to replace my tire with the same thing. I had suspected that the hole was in the sidewall and had already picked out online a replacement online for ~$95 after taxes. I mentioned most of this to the guy checking me out but he wasn't involved with this job and didn't seem to care to rectify the situation. I had the choice to sit around for another hour for them to put the tire I wanted on there and get in trouble at work or take the hit to the wallet... I guess this is an easy way for them to make +40% more on a purchase. read more
