We had a flat tire on a rental car and a very tight schedule with a full carload of people on the way to a memorial service. The shop was pretty busy and the wait time would probably be 45-90 minutes. We were panicky. LINO became our savior, worked us right in, took personal care of us, swapped our tire for us himself in 5 minutes, and provided such excellent customer service. This is a great place to stop in, even when you are having a rough morning. Jose at the front went above and beyond to make sure I got out of here safe and with the best solution available. He spent over an hour working on fixes for my cracked rim and found me the best deal on a replacement. He was kind and efficient- I couldn't be mad even when I found out I would have to buy a new tire! If you have the chance, ask for Jose to work on your case, he will go the extra mile to make you a happy customer. read more

DONOT have your tire pressure monitors replaced at this store. I had mine replaced and had to come back 5 times before they would refund my money. Once because the tires weren't balanced after they dismounted them. I got my refund after wasting my time. They replaced my original monitors with regular valves. Hope it doesn't leak if not back again to waste more time. Manager was no help. read more

03/03/20 I am on a work schedule here in Brownsville, TX for 2 months and I reside in Kentucky. I noticed one morning my front tire was low on air and I was driving to the San Antonio airport the next day so I was planning to fill it with air and see if there is a slow leak. One of my clients suggested to go to Discount Tire here because they check the tire and fill it for free. Sounds good and I went to get it filled. When I returned back from weekend travels, my tire was low again so there was a slow leak needing repair. Here's where the story gets good and for the most part, the pressure sales tactics and sales trap is the WARNING I am bringing to your attention today. So I had the Discount Tire Sales Rep check the tire while on the truck and they could not find the leak. I expected them to remove the tire and look for the leak and I offered to pay them to plug the leak, even though they said the repair was free of charge. I thought this was a little odd but hey, free repair. The repair service is free because they have no intention of repairing, but instead pushing you into a corner to buy a new tire from them. So the young salesman, Manuel, looked at the tires and then started to paint a picture of deception, with the intent of misleading me to purchasing new tires, even though I have over 60% tread life still remaining. Any marking or wear was considered to be unsafe in his opinion. I explained to just find the leak, repair it and I had no intention to buy any tires today, especially if not needed. Again, I offered to pay for the tire repair and again he refused saying it was free. He brought the truck into the bay, I wasn't allowed in to watch them locate the leak. My truck was on the lift, and again they said that they were not able to find the leak and that it may be on the side wall or by the rim. Just to make sure, they were going to remove the tire to get a better look and he explained that if the tire was removed, and leak was unrepairable, that I would be REQUIRED to purchase a new tire from them. I didn't understand why I had no option than to buy the tire. So to clarify, they could not find the leak with the spray bottle, then they wanted to make sure that I understood if they took the tire off and felt it was unsafe (by their standards) to repair, that they would not put the tire back on or allow me to do it on their property and I would have to get a tow truck to remove my truck from the premises or purchase a tire from them. Also, they would not put my spare on for me because they said that the spare tire was over 10 yrs old...even though the truck isn't 10yrs old yet. Before I left KY, I had the spare checked for leaks and rot and made sure of the correct air pressure. The spare was in near new condition. I was not allowed to replace my own tire, on my own truck, on their property. So for any reason, if the salesperson wanted to sell a tire, they could determine that the tire was unsafe and leave the vehicle owner stranded with 3 wheels until the owner bought new tires or called a tow truck. This process was shady as hell. Management needs to be reprimanded for these tactics because I'm sure that's what they are teaching their salesmen to do, lie and cheat to sell tires that the consumer doesn't need. I looked online and found that Discount Tire had a 2.5 star rating. Low and behold, the 3rd review (09/30/19) I read was another consumer that had this exact same thing happen to him, except that he was caught in their web of lies and was stranded there because he allowed Discount Tire to remove the tire from his vehicle. I followed a co-worker's advice and went to Kelly's Used and New Tires. They lifted up my truck, removed the wheel, easily found the tire leak in the tread (easy repair), repaired it and put the tire back on. Good as new, for $8 and only 20 minutes of my time. This is what I asked for initially at Discount Tire but they lured me in with the free service...then tried every pressure sales pitch and lie to corner me into buying a new tire from them. went for a patch, they told me if my tire wasn't deemed patchable they would hold my car ransom. (Force me to have it towed away or force me to buy a new tire from them...which would take days as they don't have my tires in stock). Longer version is the tire appeared fixable. (Nail was in the outer lug of the tread, greater than 1 inch from sidewall). He claimed they couldn't know for sure until they took it apart and once it was apart, if not repairable, couldn't be put back together. (Incapacitating my car in their possession). I suggested putting it back how they found it (nail and all) and was told that wasn't an option. I either had to have it towed away or buy a tire from them and wait for it to come in. I got it repaired elsewhere and will not be back to discount in Brownsville. read more

This is a first class operation. I've had two occasions to do business here and both times I was very impressed with the customer service. Today I had a punctured tire which I thought they could help me with. Service was A++ and they fixed the flat on my new truck for no charge. When I was dealing with the service manager and the store phone rang, he looked at me and asked "would it be okay if I answer that?" That's thoughtful, courteous, and proper customer service. I'm sure these guys get some training and I appreciate that. BTW, my first interaction was to buy tires for my wife's SUV. Great price and service. Discount Tire is my tire store! read more

I was in Brownsville for the Texas Police Games. I had a low tire and noticed a nail in it. Discount Tire was the closest so I went there for a repair. The guy was nice enough. I told them i was very limited on time since I had a game very shortly. they were not busy so I was in and out quick. Apparently my tire was not repairable and the spare was put on. Where I am unhappy is when we were done with our game I went to unload my truck and I saw the rim sitting in the back of my tahoe. No tire, nothing. Just the rim, My tires are some very expensive, very well reviewed tires that have only been on the truck a few months. THEY KEPT MY TIRE! JUST THREW THE RIM IN THE BACK! helloooooo!!! I have the tire under warranty and road hazzard repair thru another company. I only went there cause it was close and I had a load of people. I didn't want to chance having a flat with everyone there. road hazzard! I had to go back in between another event and get my tire back from them and have them mount it back under my truck. very inconvenient and disappointing. Didn't tell me they kept my tire nor did they mention they just threw the rim in the cargo area of my tahoe. very disappointed in the service there. read more

I was looking to get four new tires for my car. I already knew which specific tires I wanted, and after finding out that Mcallen and Edinburg didn't have them, I called the Harlingen and Brownsville locations. Harlingen didn't have them, but Brownsville did. Cary said to stop by to check them out. I arrived, excited about getting my new tires, only to find out that they only had ONE tire in stock. How can that be? I just spoke to Cary on the phone half an hour ago, and I explained that I would need all four tires. The reason was that sometimes the computer inventory is not 100% accurate. Are you kidding me? I'm driving all the way from Edinburg; fix your crappy inventory. I ended up going to Expert Tire in San Benito where, it seems, their inventory system works quite fine, actually. read more

Purchased one tire and had it installed and during the installation one of the four wheel studs broke. The service tech played it off; telling us the studs are cheap, but we would have to have it repaired ourselves elsewhere, since Discount Tire does not do that type of repair. Talked to the manager and he said the same thing, that they do not repair broken wheel studs, they only do tires. We (my son and I) had to replace the broken stud (took about 4 hours and about 15 dollars in parts-since we could not afford to take the car to a mechanic); when we told this to the manager, he offered to repay for our time and parts, and offered discount on future tire purchases (that was nice of him, he is very nice and professional, he did try to make things right-after the fact). However; I do not recommend this store; they only do tires-NOTHING ELSE. If you have bad brakes, or other problems with your car, they will only change the tires, and then you have to go somewhere else to get other mechanical problems fix. I am going back to Pueblo Tires (the tires are about 10 dollars more in cost per tire) but they can fix just about anything that can go wrong with your car (A/C repair, brakes, oil changes, suspensions); Pueblo Tires does try to created a customer/store relationship-Discount Tire do not. Discount Tire is just what you get, a discount on the tire costs, but for other mechanical needs of your car, you need to go elsewhere. I spend more time and money going to Discount Tire, then if I just have gone to Pueblo Tires. Consumer beware, you get what you pay for. read more
