Discount Shutters and Blinds was recommended by my neighbor. I got several estimates that were much higher in price and longer waiting time to get the shutters installed. Greg, the owner, took measurements, quoted me a price and advised that the shutters are made in the U.S. The waiting time would be 3 weeks. I would also get a tax credit of 30% up to $1200. for the tax year of 2023. No one else had this offer but Greg. This meant a $600.00 tax credit for me. I paid half the cost up front and the other half upon installation. Everything went as planned and I'm delighted with my purchase. My neighbors complimented the shutters and one of them made a purchase from Discount Shutters and Blinds for their home. Terrible product. We purchased almost a whole house of shutters. Within the first month, one of the slats started to come off the bracket. Also, when you close the shutter, you can see very uneven, gasps, width. This is especially visible at night when the light comes through. I reached out numerous times to Greg. No response. Based on the quality, and lack of response, I opted to write this review. If you're looking for shutters that will last, I recommend finding another company as you won't get the service needed to fix anything when it they eventually break. read more

At this point, I wonder if Greg is alive and whether or not I should call for a wellness check on him. Seven weeks ago Greg measured our windows for custom blinds ordered through Lowes. Blinds were supposed to arrive after three weeks and installation scheduled within 48 hours after the blinds were delivered. Five weeks passed and I heard nothing so I called Lowes. They found out the blinds had already been delivered to Greg and were just sitting there apparently. They changed the status to "ready to install"and I was supposed to hear from Greg within 48 hours. I did not. That was 11 days ago. Someone from Lowes has called Greg and left messages for him (because he never answers) pretty much every single day since then and he has not called them back or called me to schedule installation. A couple days ago my job was assigned to a new installer but in order for them to schedule the installation, they have to get the blinds back from Greg, who is still not answering his phone or returning phone calls. At this point, Lowes has to eat the cost of those blinds and order a new set of custom blinds so that they can be installed by the deadline. A deadline that wouldn't have even been an issue if Greg had ever answered his phone or returned a call. This is why I think Greg might have departed this earthly plane. Even if he hasn't (but especially if he has), I do not recommend using his services. read more

I don't know where all of the negative reviews are coming from - my husband and I had a great experience with Greg! He came out to measure our windows twice before our house was completed and also made an extra trip to show us a shutter sample. He was very easy to work with and was in constant communication with us regarding our window delivery time frame and install date. Greg installed our shutters very quickly and cleaned up his mess along the way. My husband pointed out a shutter that was installed crooked in the bedroom and he fixed it immediately, no questions asked. Putting aside the many excuses surrounding Covid and after waiting over a year to have Greg repair my shutters and blinds, I contacted Simple Shade, Inc. in Camarillo. They properly did the repairs within two days. Greg states that his products are made in the USA but he told me he goes to China to get his products. He stated he couldn't do the repairs because the motor for the blinds came from China and Covid issues prevented him from getting the motor. Due to very poor service, I contacted the Better Business Bureau. They contacted Greg and he said he would take care of the problems. I never heard from Greg again. Greg Davis installed shutters and 3 Motorized Solar Shades in my new home in May of 2016. His pricing was very good and he was recommended by a personal friend BUT I would NEVER recommend him to anyone! While everything looked beautiful I began experiencing some problems with a few shutters wherein the pins kept popping out. I called and texted Greg several times about this problem and had NO response from him. Since the shutters were in a rarely used guest room, I let it go. Then one of the solar shades stopped working. I again called and texted Greg several times. Again, NO response or repairs until months later. He finally came and did the repairs in late March of 2019, HOWEVER, on April 2, 2019 I called and texted Greg telling him the blinds he repaired were still not working properly. It is now May of 2020 and yet another blind is dead. I have finally run out of patience and will be calling another reputable professional to repair this mess. Disappointed Greg. Initially everything was great. He installed our initial set of blinds and shutters, we were so happy that we had him do the remaining windows of our home. Off the get-go, the kitchen window blind did not work properly. We told him it would be ok to come fix it until the rest of our shutters came in. They did, and he fixed the blind, or did he? Never has worked right and one of the other expensive blinds we purchased does not work either. We have called, left messages and texts. No reply. It's unfortunate for Greg that I have a family referral for a whole house of shutters, they keep asking me for his number but I just can't in good faith give them his info. Our shutters were delivered timely and were what we ordered, however, we noted cracks on 2 of the shutter frames. We immediately brought this to Greg's attention and he advised us that it would take approximately 4 weeks to receive replacements. After 2 months, we began calling Greg to get an update on the replacement shutters. We ordered the shutters at the end of June 2017. They were installed by the beginning of August 2017. Around the 2nd week in October, we began calling to find out what was happening. Despite all the negative reviews, we gave them a chance as the owner told us he was a victim of trolling and I unfortunately believed him. He is a nice guy but very poor Workmanship and had to make many runs to fix the windows. He blamed the poor construction of our newly built house, told us that we were wrong to expect that the lanes will shutout sunlight around the edges and have every excuse in the book.
