Our tour guide was very sweet and made sure we were all comfortable during the two hour ride. They also have Eco tours, which we could definitely tell she was into. A smaller lake close by was closed off completely due to a deadly algae, which she then collected algae from the lake and took the sample under a microscope and invited anyone to come check it out. Her interest made it that much more personable and I enjoyed it. Not the bad algae though, obviously. She even offered to take pictures for us. The sunset was beautiful and on the way back we saw some water falls. Something to consider before booking. The difference between this sunset cruise and the Charter sunset cruise is because it is more private with 6 passengers per tour at a higher rate and starts at 6:30pm-8:30pm with daily cruises available, whereas Ithaca boat tours allows up to 24 people starting at 7:30pm-9:30pm with cruises only on Friday/Saturday. We didn't mind if there was going to be more people on board, but there were only about 8 of us on the boat that night anyway. I also like that it starts at a later time so we could relax and get a nice meal beforehand. I would recommend this tour. Don't forget it's BYOB! Have fun!

We arrived a little early and they let us take the boat out before our scheduled time. Steve's son ( don't remember his name) went over the instructions and gave us some bottled waters. I had to purchase ice from a nearby bar. We did return it a little earlier than we were supposed to..... but that was our decision. We rented for 4 hours and we were able to visit multiple locations in the lake that I could only see from the road. The Good: The history of the John Alden designed schooner is worth reading before you go. We had some more "salty" members of our group that recognized the name of the schooner from the 1956 movie "High Society" starring Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra and after that we were on board for a wonderful time. We even were seated in the seats once occupied by Gene and Bing. We purchased our tickets after being approached by Terry who negotiated a decent price with us because he wanted a full boat for the next trip. Captain Bill was an experienced Captain and is well known in the area. He got us underway and was a delightful host regaling us with stories about the "True Love", Seneca Lake and surroundings, as well as, some stories about racing the "True Love" and his crew, Spencer and Marena. Captain Bill even assisted another sailing boat that was in distress and precariously close to the lake edge. The trip was two hours long and on time. The crew served non-alcoholic and adult beverages (some free, some for a price) while underway and also sold some souvenirs (Whisky and glasses). The Bad: There was nothing bad, from start to finish, this was a very enjoyable trip and the crew definitely enjoyed sharing their love of the "Trie Love" with the joyful passengers. The Ugly: Absolutely nothing other than we could not be out for longer. If you find yourself in Watkins Glen, this is definitely an enjoyable to kick back, relax, and let the wind fill your sails. The owners were very kind and instructed me on technique and proper form when rowing a kayak. My partner and I came on a calm morning with perfect weather conditions to kayak (no wind, flat water.) We got the faster kayaks and were able to kayak 2 miles going to see Hector Falls and 2 miles coming back. I truly cannot feel like I understand and know a body of water now without kayaking it first. The price for 2 hours was $52, but given it is the famous, Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region, I feel it's warranted and definitely worth it. During our stay in the Finger Lakes, for both of us, this was one of our absolute favorite things to do on the trip. When we come back, we will definitely visit this business again. The Irondequoit Bay Outlet Bridge was closed so there was no opportunity to cross the harbor on foot or by vehicle without driving all the way around the harbor. So that's a downer. So getting the boat for an afternoon was super nice and a special day for sure. We got a pontoon boat for the afternoon. My brother and his wife rented it for 6 hours. I can't remember the exact price, I wanna say $450 for the6 hours, but don't quote me on that bc I THINK it may have been a tad more expensive. It's definitely a little pricey, but compared to their competitors, German Brothers definitely had the better price. The so-called "inconvenience" of renting from the vs the other(s) is German Bros is located out on West Lake Rd as the other is located in town...which is why I think they can get away with charging more at that place. The guys at German Bros were fantastic. Super friendly, super helpful...honestly don't have one bad thing to say about them or the business. For my first time experiencing one of these boat rental companies back home, I was definitely satisfied and even from my social media posts from that day and the days after our day on the lake, I referred like 5 people to this place and told them how much better it would be to go with them especially if they were worried about cost. You definitely save using German Brothers and these days, who isn't trying to save money any way they can? One thing to point out, you do have to pay for the gas for the boat and that cost is not included in the rental cost. You pay for the gas at the end of your time on the boat and I wanna say it's like a dollar and change more than what we'd pay at the pump ourselves. Then again, wait, haha, not sure what kind of gas these boats use haha! Just know tho, you pay separate for the gas. I recommended this to 5 different people (as mentioned already) and I'd gladly recommend to 5 more, 10 more, etc. They're a fantastic company and they deserve all the business they can get.
