Discount Car Audio - Car Stereo Installation Near Me - Houston, Texas

This is for the HWY 6 Discount Car Audio shop, that is family run and owned. I am posting because I am very pleased with my experience, not once but twice. My system (2.0) install about 1 year after adding amp and subs now includes a digital signal processor (DSP). A true audiophiles dream, with a high resolution service like Tidal with the LDAC codec, I am now listening at/near studio level quality. While my wait was a little longer than expected, my patience was rewarded with a customer experience that involved tuning, system explanation, and an invite to come back anytime should I want to tweak or adjust settings. Great value, great customer service, and good/great experience overall. read more

Don't come here this place is horrible I bought a radio here and the radio stopped working "The owner said the radio is fried" and he claimed that they wrote on their radio but don't see any writing on the one I purchased from them even showed him the receipt where I paid 680. We are so pleased we found Burki, owner/operator of Discount Car Audio. We researched various businesses that replace audio systems and this place definitely stood out as a front runner. It is a pleasure to work with a family business that displays such high ethical standards and values. We were also able to upgrade our SUV headlamps with brighter high quality LED lights. This business is very reasonable with cost and I highly recommend them to anyone needing technical car accessories. read more

Burki and her son Hamzah are professional, knowledgeable and fair. They did not try to oversell the changes I wanted to make to my existing system and offered me choices instead of only the most expensive. I'd recommend Discount Audio. read more

Wow. I cannot say enough good things about this family run business. I had recently bought an old car and wanted to upgrade the stereo to 2023 standards. I'm new to Houston and was very nervous about who I let work on my car and whom to trust. I checked out a couple of other popular places in town but decided to go with Discount on Hwy 6. Hamza and Burki were so friendly and welcoming. They listened to what I wanted and helped me pick the right products for my budget. I specifically asked Hamza to please be careful as the car was old but means a lot to me. They took great care and did an excellent job. I upgraded the head unit to a JVC Apple CarPlay and all speakers to Infinity Reference. It looks and sounds great! I am so happy with the purchase and with how I was treated by these guys. They are super knowledgeable, courteous and fair. I will only trust my cars to these guys for car audio and window tint from now on. Great job! read more

These guys did a great job on my Volvo with a ceramic tint. I'm very pleased with the work and will recommend to anyday.

Was walking in too get tint, got charged a affordable price! I have been going here for over 3 years now thank you again!

They've become my go-to spot.. I've gotten tint on two trucks here, both times they did a great job. Recently, they've replaced my door speakers and the change is great. Will be back to get a subwoofer to compliment my new speakers. Best prices on this side of town. read more

Ever since the Altima met it's maker, so to speak, I was too reluctant to do anything with Max since everything I spent money on was a complete waste when they totalled him. But curiosity and googling got the better of me and so I ended up with the most amazing product here. So I have a push start vehicle but no factory remote start. The technician here was able to make my factory smart key fob literally start my vehicle from inside my house! Under $200 and without having a complete alarm system installed cuz all I wanted was just the remote start. The owner lady is super chill and very reasonable. I asked best buy across the street for the same thing and they looked at me with the blankest stares I have ever seen. When I came here, the lady asked her installer if he could do it and an hour later I was hooked up and ready to go. Her world of warcraft- playing son was cool to talk to as well. I mean he did NOT take his eyes of that computer screen lol! I got my eyes on a few items here. I mean I love Max how it is, don't get me wrong. But you can't blame a man for wanting more than stock options, right? They are located exactly across the street from Ross and Exclusive furniture on Highway 6 and westheimer. Coming from Bellaire it's AFTER westheimer on 6. Coming from i-10 it's BEFORE westheimer. So yes I would definitely recommend them for alarms, car stereo equipment and they do a lot of tint as well. I was on a time crunch so I didn't indulge but this heat is ripping me a new one so next week hopefully I can get Max's windows tinted. read more

These guys are awesome. My husband had a Viper remote start and alarm system installed in my car and I absolutely love it. What I didn't know was, a dying car battery confuses these kind of systems. Long story short, I pressed a bunch of buttons and messed up my remote. These guys happily fixed it. And for an added bonus, I got to watch an episode of Friends while I waited. Happy day. read more

They did an amazing job with my son's first car. The people were very knowledgeable and helpful. They could have lied to me and made more money and I never would have known. They were honest and treated me very fairly. Highly recommended read more

Again this place does not disappoint! Warm family with great customer service and great prices. This is why I am a repeat customer for life!

My amp blew in my truck. I came to this place, eventhough I didn't know anything about them. I purchased a new amp from them in November 2021. Two months ago, ALL of my speakers stopped working (door, subs, tweakers). I took it to the dealership, as I have a warranty. The dealership told me I needed to go back to the place the amp was installed. The dealership explained that the amp powers all my speakers. I was thinking this is gonna cost me over $200 to fix (probably would have to buy a new sub". Much to my surprise, the staff (a family, I believe) were super friendly and pulled my truck to the back immediately. They had the issue fixed in 15 min. Turned out my factory amp under driver seat was unplugged (nothing to do with their equipment). They also made sure all the wires were still properly connected. I spoke with the owner, very friendly man. He explained they've been in business for 25 years because they are reliable and have good prices. They work on honesty. I will definitely be back for my audio needs. Places like this are hard to come by. read more

Zain is a nice guy and was very happy with the customer service. Great job with Tint.

Omg...best place to go to Women if u really don't know what u want. I walked in explaining that I wanted a touchscreen bluetooth car audio. The guy I wish I knew his name recommend me the Pioneer avh 299bt which is also a DVD player. I was there in total an hr and a half granted it was Monday at 11am and that's with one car ahead of me. Once the job completed. Instructions was given on how to use it. I did my internet research and it is one of the newest additions that Pioneer came out with and it was a great price. Please go here. read more

What can I say about this place. The lady who owns it is really nice and friendly. They have been in business for 20 years. I came there with a Kenwood Bluetooth stereo about 80% done but I couldn't do the wiring from the trunk in my Taurus was too difficult. They did it in 45 minutes for only $50 it really made my day. I was so discouraged with my own installation that I almost said everything back but they fixed me up! Everything was perfect don't go to car toys or Best Buy they will rip you off like any other big company this place on Route 6 is the best. read more

I had a bad experience getting a shoddy job done at a flea market a year ago. This time I did my research and bought all the right car audio units I needed. I asked the lady at the store how much an install would cost (since I had all the wires due to the previous set up, I didn't need any more and I'm glad she did not try to up-sell me! I got the head unit, door speakers and subwoofers replaced for 115$ which to me, seems like a pretty fair price! Lol Car Toys just down the street tried to charge me around 354$..more than three times of what I paid here. Great and timely service! read more

Had a remote start alarm installed today. Service was quick, took about an hour. The owner was thorough in explaining the product. I didn't feel pressured to purchase anything, which in the end convinced me to get my alarm installed here. Pricing was reasonable, better than competition in the area. I will definitely return in the future to purchase my stereo system. read more

Not only did these guys do a fantastic job installing a remote start alarm for us at the best price I could find, but their support AFTER the sale was stellar. We had an issue with the remote that was a result of an attempt by us to re-sync the system, so we stopped by to see if they could help. They jumped on it immediately, reprogrammed the entire system at no charge, and seemed genuinely happy to help. Had we bought this at one of the chain stores, I'm fairly certain we would have had to shell out more cash for any sort of support. Thanks to the folks at Discount Car Audio - keep doing what you're doing... we'll be back, and will happily recommend you to everyone we know read more

Has anyone had a Navigator in this shop? Looking at swapping out factory head, rear seat DVD, adding backup camera and a viper 5706 alarm/remote start. Looking for quality, not wires popping apart behind the dash in late July if you know what I mean. I liked the shop and loved the lady running it. Very down to earth and informative. No pressure no rush. read more

So I discovered this place totally by accident! I was in the market to replace a blown out door speaker and went to car toyz as I'd dealt with them in the past. The salesman was very helpful however we spent so much time looking at options I was kind of over it. So we decide on a set to begin with and he gives me the quote of $380 ish with installation for the two speakers. This seemed high but they finance and I really wanted my car to sound normal again. After all that it turns out they wouldn't be able to install that day as they were booked and the tech, who was also up front sounded like he wouldn't have any openings for at least a few days. Needless to say I left empty handed and rather disappointed. So I got in yelp and saw several places with not so great reviews until I came across this one which is literally right down the street! I came in to check it out but was kinda over speaker shopping for the day. Zane had discussed pricing and options but I decided I'd come back another day. Then today as I drove to work with my blown out speaker I decided to go for it. Not only were they able to take care of me today l, but I got what seems to be a better quality set of speakers AND my windows tinted for LESS than the other place!!! Not to mention Zane and who I believe is his mom we're super friendly and knowledgeable!!! I'll definitely be back!!! read more
