Our mushers, Jaren and Dane, were incredibly experienced, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They didn't just guide us - they educated us, patiently answering every single one of my (many!) questions with enthusiasm and depth. You can tell they truly love sharing this world with others. What stood out just as much as the scenery was the care and devotion shown to the dogs. Every single Alaskan Husky is clearly loved, respected, and exceptionally well cared for. It's obvious the entire team is deeply invested in the health, happiness, and wellbeing of these amazing animals, which made the experience feel even more special and authentic. And then there's the ride itself - absolutely breathtaking. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and the trail felt like something out of a dream. We glided through endless stretches of pristine white snow, surrounded by pines trees, with the crisp Alaskan air filling our lungs. The dogs were great and the trail was scenic, but my interaction with owner Matthew Failor detracted from the experience. At check-in, the waiver asked for my full address. When I hesitated and asked why, his response was essentially that I needed to fill it out or I wouldn't be allowed to go out on the sled. Only afterward did he vaguely mention insurance. Being given that kind of ultimatum in front of other guests felt coercive rather than respectful. After the run, he asked if I had fun and stayed warm. I answered simply and briefly. He then commented that I was "a woman of very few words," which came across as dismissive. He then asked where I live, despite my earlier hesitation about sharing personal information. As a woman traveling alone who had already shown discomfort about privacy, that felt intrusive and tone-deaf. The actual sled run was also noticeably shorter than expected, which made the overall experience feel less worth the cost. Liz later called, listened to my concerns, and processed a refund, which I appreciated. I'm sharing this so other women traveling alone can make an informed decision. While the dogs and trail were enjoyable, my interaction with Matthew made the overall experience uncomfortable and not worth repeating.

My family and I were looking for extended-stay lodging from Feb 1st - April 1st 2021. We were…read moremoving to Alaska from the lower 48, and needed a place to live while in the process of purchasing a house. I had contacted Karen Harris, the owner of Alaska Garden Gate BnB, in December 2020 and secured our reservation for an extended stay. Karen informed me in late January 2021 that it was possible the property would sell during our reservation dates, but that she was doing everything she could to ensure current guests could stay as long as possible, and that future reservations were honored. We checked into the Cottonwood Cottage on Feb. 1st. 2021 with no problems. During our stay, we were given notice that both property appraisals and inspections were taking place and were asked for our patience and understanding. I had email Karen multiple times to clarify our reservation and status of the property's ownership. Karen again responded that the contract and sale had not been finalized and she would let me know. On the morning of February 10th, Karen called to informed me that we needed to vacate the property within 24 hrs due to the sale of the property. Karen stated that the new owners were not going to continue with a BnB business, and that they required all long-term tenants and short terms guests to leave immediately. We complied with the abrupt request and thankfully found alternative lodging the same day. However, we were subsequently charged extra nights through Feb 13th. While a refund was provided for those extra nights; based on Alaska Garden Gate BnB's February 19th Facebook post, they are actively taking reservations through March 16th. While Alaska Garden Gate BnB will no longer be an active business come March 16th, I would not recommend any individual to do current or future business with an owner and company who treats their guests with such blatant disrespect and deceit.

We checked before arriving in, on check-in timings and other details to make sure we get the keys and other things in case if we get delayed. We took room for 4 people, so it came with double bunk beds with one bottom queen with rest single beds. Room was decent side with modern bathroom in an apartment style. Also, it came with shared kitchen with table, microwave and coffee maker. Dining hall was set up in a ballroom environment with round tables and chairs around it. Also, outdoor dining area is also available. Homemade breakfast is served: * hot oatmeal and blueberries with additional side toppings available - nuts, almonds, sugar, raisins and cranberries - loved it ! * egg omelette with potato stuffed - again loved it * muffins - not well cooked, felt like it was under baked and needs more cooking Other than that, regular store-bought bread with butter, jam was also served. The only complaint is in the morning there were too much noise as rooms are layed out next to each other with very little space which can be annoying if you decide to sleep in little more than others, we can hear people shouting and bathroom noise as well. We would totally come in here any time during our next Alaska trip and recommend it to others.

What a perfect park to stay between anchorage and fairbanks! Right off the highway, super clean,…read morequiet, small, perfectly kept grounds, bathrooms, showers and camping spots! They have a variety of different sites, we had one with electric and water. The price was $30 with 2 free showers which is nice. Laundry was only $2 a load. The main building with bathrooms and showers were close , the sites are well kept and easy to maneuver and fellow campers were respectful and quiet. The host and owner was amenable and helpful. The main building closes at 8:30 but there is super clean flush toilets near all sites for after hours if you aren't in an RV with facilities or in a tent. There is some highway noise but the park is far enough off the street to muffle it a bit. The view is of aspenst, greenery and sky and is very tranquil. There was a gardener there when we had supper who was planting and keeping everything nice looking. The cleanliness cannot be overstated. I would stay here as a central site if I ever come back this way.
