This was a total hidden gem in Chiloquin! We stopped by after hiking at Crater Lake and had so much…read morefun. We did the train tour which was a ride on the tracks with a few stops throughout that provided some background and super interesting history about the railroads. The ride took about 30 min. Our guide, Ian, was so knowledgeable. After the tour, we walked around and explored some of the train cars and equipment throughout the property. Some of the cars had stairs so you could walk throughout them. Such a cool experience if you're into history or trains! Would also recommend bringing some cash for a donation as the museum is funded by donations and largely run by volunteers. The staff were so kind and passionate about the museum. I think this would be super fun for kids, but as a group of adults we loved it!!

A one of a kind miniature train experience. What a fun place to be at. Sorry for ending the last…read moresentence with a preposition if you caught that. The volunteers here were all very pleasant and loved what they are doing. No fee for coming here but I left a $20 donation because I felt that it was worth at least that. So donate appropriately for the continued success of this wonderful place for all future generations to enjoy. Do not miss the miniature train ride, a not to be missed experience.

First off to say, I'm not an elk, but I have been in here quite a few times for events. Our high…read moreschool class has had several reunions here, and we just recently had our 45th. The place is clean, and it's just such a nice atmosphere. Not too fancy. A very nice atmosphere. The bartender was very friendly, and he made sure to take very good care of us. If there was anything we needed, somebody was there to help. The food was excellent. We had a choice. Of either chicken or grill your own steak, with all the trimmings. I had the steak, and it was very decent sized. It came with seasoning, barbecue sauce, and butter if you wanted to put it on, and then you just popped it onto the grill, and in a few minutes, your dinner was ready. My steak came out, perfectly, medium rare. It was tender, and it was delicious. They had several different desserts, and they were also very good. Afterwards, we just had a nice time visiting and catching up. It was a great event. The Elks always take good care of us. Thank you for a very good evening.

First off the location and facility is really nice. The building is huge with so much meeting / congregating space. Most importantly are the members. Such a warm welcoming group. From the person checking in people, to the bartender to just people hanging out.... All very hospitable people. Had a couple of drinks and some good conversations. I could see becoming an Elk sometime.

Drug Wars - Answering the Call Hello,…read more My name is Tom Monson. I've been a resident of Medford Oregon for almost 40 years. I moved here from LA in the 70's. It was a very different place then. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer. During my week of radiation treatment I was blind and all I could do was lay on my back and reflect on my life. I thought about the things I've done, the things I wanted to, and all the marvelous blessings I have been given. I was at peace because I've had a rich and full life. During my recuperation, I discovered a tragedy unfolding. In a talk, Jackson County Medical Examiner, Dr. Jim Shames sounded an alarm about the dangers of prescription drugs. I decided to look into it. I discovered some horrifying facts. Last year, tens of thousands of teenagers died and hundreds of thousand became drug addicts (many of them turning to crime and/or prostitution to support their new habit). The deaths cross all economic and social stratus -- rich and poor, secular and non-secular. Why? The drug companies are pushing these drugs as cure-alls and some doctors freely write prescriptions. Most parents don't have a clue about the dangers of these drugs. The warnings have been lost in the news of political turmoil, the war on terror and our terrible economic times. You would think something this important would take top billing all the time. I knew I had to do something about this because according to the Centers for Disease Control, one in five teens use prescription drugs for non-medical purposes and many will either die or become addicted. I knew I could make a difference. Several years ago I produced a 1/2 hour documentary about a young heroin addict. For over a year, it was broadcast all over the state of Oregon. Several drug-treatment centers told me their intake calls for heroin addiction doubled the day after the broadcast. The state medical examiner reported two years later the number of heroin-related deaths declined by over 50%. The film worked. I just finished a documentary about the dangers of prescription drugs. The film will be broadcast on NBC-5 in December, 2012. It will be promoted on television, radio, Internet, and in print. In the Drug Wars, the real enemies are ignorance and apathy. If you know and do nothing, you are part of the problem. If we all do something we can save our children. The expenses for this endeavor are huge. If you own a businesses, you can gain positive name recognition by helping pay for the, production, air time and fees. If you just want to help me save our children, please do. To learn more about it, go to www.drugwars.com or send your contribution to Thomas Nash, llc, 33 North Central Ave, Suite 401, Medford, OR 97501, or call Tom Monson at (541) 210-6698 for sponsor information.
