I was excited to try this place. I really liked the catfish even though I found it to be salty (too much seasoning). Note: I couldn't tell if this establishment is actually serving real catfish or Swai. The Mac and cheese was horrible! I ended up throwing it out. A wonderful gem right next to Hyde Park! The food here is absolutely amazing. We got the lamb chops and goat curry and they were both to die for. The guests we catered for also loved it. The man and cheese was the best I've had in my life. The restaurant is a little hard to notice if you're not looking for it. There is street parking outside and the inside is very clean. They have a small seating area where you can sit and enjoy your food (it's best hot). As a heads up, the chef (Tiffany) is very accommodating and can source halal meat for most items on the menu if you call in advance. She was only able to get halal lamb and goat the day we went, but I'm excited to try the jerk chicken next time. It's great to have another restaurant with halal options in the area! read more

They changed some things. Jerk has not tasted fresh off the grill, it tastes baked and not as flavorful. The mac and cheese recipe changed and is not the good southern baked kind. Although I'm not a fan of the Jamaican food in Chicago, I'm always open to new things. My friend mentioned Dirty Tiffs on social media and I decided to check it out today. I was in a pasta mood, so I tried the Jerk shrimp Alfredo and my GOD.....It was banging! ! It was so good I placed a second order before I even left the spot(don't judge me). I even went as far to compliment the chef. This dish is very reminiscent of the rasta pasta back in Brooklyn, which says a lot! While searching for new Caribbean Restaurants I found Dirty Tiff's on Yelp. I saw the great reviews and the food looked good from the pictures. I called and Tiff answered. She was patient and kind listening to my get excited about placing and order for the first time. I was super hungry I order two dinners because I wanted to sample different food items. I order the Oxtails (Super Delicious & meaty) Jerk Chicken (Delicious & moist) rice and peas good and flavorful. Cabbage was very good and not over cooked. Yams were ok, missing something. Mac & cheese wasn't creamy or cheesy enough for my liking and it had some kind of seasoning that I didn't like. Over all my food was DELICIOUS and the customer service was good. I just moved to Chicago and got a jerk chicken dinner and some beef patty. The beef patty had a comfortable spice level and tasted fresh. The chicken was juicy and smoky. The greens were hitting. The Mac and cheese tasted more like what I'd get at my auntie's home rather than a restaurant and the rice and peas were flavorful and filling. Overall, the portions were a great value as well. just phenomenal! i ordered the pot roast, with sides of mac and cheese and fried green tomatoes, and my date ordered the smothered chicken with fried okra and mac. each order came with a bed of rice and beans. i thought that the pot roast was a perfect 10/10, it was tender and well seasoned, and the fried green tomatoes were crispy and flavorful (though they could've used a dipping sauce!)-- 9/10. unfortunately, i found that the mac and cheese was nothing to write home about, something about it was kind of flat, but maybe i'm accustomed to my grandmas mac. my date also wasn't thrilled with the mac, but loved the crusty bits on top so i think we'd both give it a 7/10. i didn't try the fried okra, but they seemed to enjoy it, so probably another 9/10 on the okra. the smothered chicken was very interesting, im used to savory sauces for chicken but dirty tiff uses red bell peppers in their sauce that makes it almost sweet-- it was different and my date really enjoyed it, i assume they'd give it a 10/10. i think how much you'll enjoy the smothered chicken really depends on your tastebuds, i personally would give it a 7 or 8/10 because i am really unaccustomed to bell peppers in gravy. i would also like to mention i ate on my plate for like three straight days, there was so much food and the container was packed HEAVY. it was all just fantastic and every dish obviously had a lot of love in it. we will return and if you're still reading please know you should absolutely give it a shot!! read more

I couldn't decipher the cheeses that we used in the mac n cheese though it was creamy. The banana pudding tasted like whipped cream and bananas. The peach cobbler was okay but it was ice cold. The lady at the front had to be talking on the phone and eating while I came in and she didn't stop. Can't believe I followed the reviews of this place.
