I'm not sure what's going on with Courtney, the examples she's provided of her other work is amazing and in the beginning she was very responsive. Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat as others. We paid for her services, she has been dodging deliverables, unreachable and in breach of contract. Debating at this point to pursue some sort of litigation on services not rendered and fraud. As a customer, this was a terrible f--king experience. On a personal level, I hope she's doing ok and not in some sort of health or other troubles as she did seem like a genuine and responsible person. read more

Courtney met with us along with her general contractor and together they had amazing suggestions for our backyard. We are extremely happy with the outcome. We have an upward tiered backyard and the goal was to make use of as much space as we can. Prior to the work done, we never wanted to go to the upper tier but now our whole backyard is very functional and inviting. We've had many get togethers and it makes us so happy to see our guests enjoying every inch of our space. We get so many compliments about the wood, the plants, the design, etc! We live in the Outer Sunset, and our large, 75'x25' yard was a mess. Gopher holes, weeds everywhere, leaning fences - you get the picture. Courtney came over and saw possibilities. She came up with a fantastic design, re-using much of the material already in the yard. I'll post pictures when I get a chance. The wood from the leaning fences were still in great condition and were used to make benches, an outdoor table, and a re-claimed wood wall for our pergola. She used vintage windows to create walls for the other three-sides of the pergola. Now our kids can hang out in the pergola (i.e. babysitter) without being too cold. We had an old concrete patio she re-surfaced with pavecrete, then acid stained to make it look like new. She cut the concrete to make steps leading into our DG patio. Courtney installed a digital irrigation system, encompassing the entirety of the yard so we never have to worry about watering the drought tolerant plants she picked to survive the weather in our area. Throughout the process, Courtney went above and beyond to communicate via e-mail and phone. She kept our budget in mind while creating our dream garden. She is a perfectionist - if something doesn't look right, even if the client doesn't see it, she'll point it out and do it over again. We'd been looking on/off for a landscaper/designer for the past two years without any luck. When we met Courtney, it was an easy choice. She came up with a design with our wish list in mind. The final product exceeded our expectations - we now have a functional, beautiful space which serves as an extension of our home for many years to come. Best of all, it's low maintenance. read more

We fired Courtney. She was creative, smart and offered some good ideas initially. Then came...lack of follow through, late to or canceled appointments. She'd drop out of sight and communication. Wouldn't return calls and couldn't reach her for days at a time...which made coordination with other folks doing work on the property impossible. When she did come, her behavior seemed hyper. She'd forget ideas we discussed. We were left let-down, totally frustrated and without a functional landscaper. read more

My house in the Eureka Valley/Castro neighborhood had a boring garden with a dated and cracked concrete walkway and no interesting plantings. I hired Courtney Everett to redesign and replace the walkway, install a drip irrigation system, install outdoor lighting, and plant the beds around the walkway. Courtney and team really knocked it out of the park. The walkway was replaced with a beautiful river rock/flagstone pathway. The timed irrigation system now circles the whole yard. A drain was installed to keep water away from the foundation at the back of the house. The new lighting gives the garden a warm glow at night. Most importantly, Courtney selected and planted beautiful plants that should grow well in the SF micro-climate. Courtney is easy to work with and listened to our needs. She is responsive and attentive to her clients. She has a strong contemporary design aesthetic that's natural and not too fussy and she made excellent recommendations. We live in San Francisco and actually have a yard with Grass. I felt the need to tear up my front lawn and replace it with a drought tolerant yard. We worked closely with Courtney on the Design and layout of the yard. She offered us very good suggestions. She was totally open to working with our suggestions. At the end of the project both us and her were very happy with the outcome. There is not a day that someone walks by and comments on how nice the yard looks. Courtney is an Artist. We moved into our home at the end of May and the yard was a disaster, uncontrollable blackberry bushes, ivy, weeds, random trees, big flag pole in the dirt, you name it we had it. My dad even found and old inflatable baby pool under the dirt. It was your typical Sunset Backyard with many tiers, old cobblestone walls and in much need of TLC. After many months of contemplating what to do and trying to handle it on our own, my dad and husband both took turns "taming" the yard I called up Courtney and she came by and was a Wonder Woman! She gave a very reasonable bid and we decided to go with her. And she transformed our eyesore into a gem! Don't let her small frame and easy going attitude fool you, she is one tough lady! We had her take out 2 tiers and level it out to one huge lawn area, she then extended a retaining wall, replaced stairs, put in flagstone in our patio area, added an irrigation system, and also gave us a flower and veggie bed. She is extremely knowledgeably about plant life and knows what will grow well and thrive. Her team of workers is also amazing and it's great to see a business run by a strong woman. I wish I had more yards that needed help cause I would call Courtney in a heartbeat. She is very flexible and easy to work with and was an honest joy to have at my house. One of my favorite moments was walking out on on deck and seeing her dogs napping on our new lawn. We hired Courtney based on the recommendation of a friend and her 24 karat Yelp rating. We were not disappointed. Our yard was mostly concrete sloping towards the house-unsightly and not great for drainage. Courtney designed an elegant terrace which allowed us to have a compressed granite patio, small lawn, deck, vegetable garden, timed watering system, and planted areas on the side. She came in with a crack team of assistants, had the concrete out in a few hours and the whole garden completed in 2 weeks. All with a within a very reasonable budget. She had a tight deadline and a limited budget, and as Murphy's Law would dictate, unexpected rain to boot... she handled the situation with grace and competence, and got the job done. Courtney is just plain awesome! I hired her mostly to remove an old irrigation system that was not done properly and to install a new irrigation system in our front and back yards. I also asked her to trim several large trees and to give me advice about managing oxalis which had pretty much taken over. Courtney did the above and so much more! She worked with me to understand what I really wanted from my gardens and also helped me envision more creative possibilities. She made great suggestions (such as enriching the soil, adding a small Dogwood tree and mulching deeply to discourage oxalis). She also redesigned the front yard (which was pretty boring) using materials I already had. The new design is really beautiful and so much more interesting. She took initiative to fix several problems before they became bigger. Courtney is a perfectionist and also a real artist. She buys and brings all of the materials and also does all of the cleanup and haul away. She is professional, communicates well and works quickly and efficiently. She charges a very reasonable price for such great work. I couldn't be happier with the result and will rely on Courtney from now on. I've been working with Courtey and Dan for two years and my vegetable garden has never looked better. We have a fantastic variety of annual and perennial veggies, herbs, fruits (both trees and berries), and some flowers too. Courtney knows the SF micro-climates well and is invaluable in advising what will grow well where. Dan built beautiful and functional espalier supports for the fruit trees. I love knowing that for 6-8 months I will not have to buy any produce except the sun lovers (hello tomatoes and corn-on-the-cob) which we just can't coax to grow in the Inner Richmond. There is just nothing that can compare with walking out your back door, and walking back in with dinner in your garden basket. I'm not a real serious gardener myself, and would never have this amazing garden without their tender loving care. read more

We love, love, love working with Courtney. She transformed our Berkeley back and front yards from underused, overgrown, scraggly patches into gorgeous, kid-friendly, veggie- and flower-growing oases. We have a small backyard with a tree that was so big for the space that it had to be removed, and a poorly designed garden. Courtney redesigned the space with a beautiful pergola, plant beds and lighting. She also installed a drip irrigation system so the garden is easier to tend than it was in the past. Courtney did a great job with our very large, sloping backyard that for years was a dumping ground. She worked with us on the landscape design and corrected a few things done incorrectly by our previous landscaper. A combination of a few innovative design elements, like the dry creek and no-mow lawn, transformed our former debris field into a beautiful garden that our kids could play in. (They love rolling around on the lawn, it's our own little Dolores Park, minus the trash and winos!) And I couldn't be happier with the plant selection. I had an initial idea of what natives I wanted, gave Courtney a few lists, and she helped narrow the list, plus added a few more selections that I wouldn't have thought of. So far the plants are all thriving in our foggy climate and sandy soil. AND she helped me get a few hard to find cherry trees. She also made sure that I knew how to care for the plants as well. Our mission backyard needed more than a facelift, a ten year old lawn, a lot of established plants choking in weeds and no structure! Courtney of Dirty Boots and her team turned it around.
