"The nerds do good" I had two nerds come to my place last week to clean -- a few cleaning: Actually they weren't nerds but attractive Eastern European women. They did a very fine job cleaning -- super efficient, went pretty detailed into everything, especially the kitchen, hard working and then finished in about 3 hours. Well worth what I paid. Unprofessional, lack of communication and honesty from management, especially about their staff and the capability of getting the job done. I paid for a package and did not receive the services that I paid for -- they knew that they couldn't handle the job and said nothing. I purchased the Move-Out package (empty apartment) and added inside oven cleaning (additional fee) the job was done poorly without a follow up that they couldn't fulfill most of the work. The cleaner left all my lights and doors unlocked after cleaning which clearly shows a lack of care of my home. When I asked them to rectify the issues that I raised, I was told that my cabinets were unreachable which is why they were not cleaned (see attached photo of my cabinets located in a BASEMENT where the height is beyond reachable). Also, why not tell your client ahead of time or ask for a step stool? They said that the photos of my bathroom was not the bathroom that their professional cleaned (WOW)... so now they are experiencing loss of memory. Also, you are now accusing your customer of lying (photos don't lie especially when it's time stamped). Basic toilet cleaning was not done. Overall, this company is a waist of time and money. I would of respected honesty instead they deflected with poor excuses. read more

DirtNerd did not show for our first scheduled appt so they gave me an additional $30 credit off my 1st clean to accomodate me, which I thought was very thoughtful and considerate of them. Things happen. No big deal. Jenna arrived today for my first deep clean and she did a fantastic job. She literally scrubs everything and gets on her hands and knees and gets into hard to reach places, without me asking her to! ...Dreams do come true. For an additional fee they scrub your fridge, and inside your oven/toaster oven which I think is fair enough. Bottom line is my house looks fantastic (I'm borderline OCD) so I'll def. be scheduling them again! My mother would be appalled that it took Ed nearly 6 hours to clean my 1 1/2 bedroom apartment. But we hadn't had a true deep cleaning since we moved in recently and he went to town in all the nooks and crannies--including inside the oven, under all the furniture, and de-molding the bathtub. All for $150 including tip. Ed was super sweet, extremely thorough and used all organic products. Plus, he introduced us to some amazing music. Would highly recommend and use them again. read more

Usually I clean my apartment myself. Honestly I do not trust anybody to do this task, because I like everything in my order. Always I hate an idea that somebody will touch my things. But once I had no choice, because I had to have a guest reception and had no time to do that. So I have to hire somebody I can trust. And my choice was Dirt Nerd. We have not had a deep cleaning service since we moved to our house and my little boys have stained our walls just about everywhere. Tati was very professional and meticulous. I've done lots of research and my first destination was Handy. For the REGULAR service with minimum of 3 month commitment I'd have to pay $168!! I saw a Dirt Nerd Groupon($40 Off first cleaning and $20 off following cleaning for $5), and booked DEEP cleaning service for the next day for $72! Anna was amazing and professional. Our cleaning was for my grandmother's apartment who is a hoarder and hasn't had a proper cleaning in years. Most stuff was already thrown out before Dirt Nerd's arrival, but it was also covered with vermin droppings and areas in the kitchen still had roaches. Anna and Eddie arrived 10 minutes early, were extremely thorough, thoughtful and understanding. Though it was a hugely unpleasant place to clean, you wouldn't know it by their demeanor. They were kind and professional. They stayed 30 minutes past the agreed upon time just to finish cleaning everything in the kitchen. We should have taken before and after photos. It looked like a different apartment. We initially chose them because they were quick to respond to our request and they were able to come on a Sunday- which is difficult to find. Minus one star for transparency because it is not posted on the website that the first-time discount must be applied manually (call or email) and isn't automatically applied to online bookings, and the 50% off for the 4th cleaning requires an online review. Polina and Ed were awesome! First, they arrived to my building early and were waiting for me (don't even get me started on some of the previous cleaning companies we used in Queens: super late or last minute cancellations or stepping away to a local pizzeria in the middle of the cleaning. Anyway.). Ed and Polina were SO friendly and accommodating throughout their cleaning. They brought their own eco-friendly supplies and started getting to work right away. We are typically very finicky about the way certain areas are cleaned and detailed about what gets cleaned. Ed started with one of the bathrooms and Polina, the living room. Armed with his squidgy, Ed was able to reach our very high column of mirrors and my goodness, did they sparkle afterwards. Did I mention we have two bathrooms? I don't think the high mirrors have been cleaned since we moved in. We have a lot of glass furniture too so Polina used a microfiber cloth to tackle these. I noticed a difference immediately. Dust is our main issue, which I communicated with Polina. Like the high mirrors in our bathrooms, we haven't been able to reach and clean our blinds well. Polina used our step ladder and wiped down each of our blinds. The team moved swiftly from room to room, moving boxes or furniture to wipe down hard-to-reach areas and corners. They were detailed and meticulous in their cleaning so it was no surprise they didn't finish in the 4.5 hour window I purchased but they were happy to stay a little longer to finish all of the rooms, which I really appreciated. I've used cleaning companies before but the cleaners that were sent were always either a hit or miss. I'm so happy to have stumbled upon Dirt Nerd on Yelp! Ed and Polina were both very professional to deal with, exhibited such positive attitudes and really took pride in their work! Sonya came and cleaned my one bed in Manhattan and I returned to it spotless. Very easy iMessage set up. Invoices sent to my email, no worries about cash or checks on arrival. Very clear pricing model, what is and is not included. Even a couple of dirty dishes left in the sink from the night before were scrubbed and left to dry while Sonya was there. I got their deep cleaning service about a month ago but I wouldn't recommend. I would consider them for a regular cleaning but wouldn't get the same woman as she left many dishes unclean or not clean at all. She did clean my floors very well but I can tell she just put some dishes away without cleaning them and I don't want to have to watch someone clean to make sure it's done. I also asked ahead of time if the cleaner would have her own supplies and I was told that she would. The supplies she came with were limited and she used up a lot of mind. Be sure to check the list of what their deep cleaning includes. The options that they offer for deep cleaning don't include cabinets, the oven, and refrigerator. I'm still looking for a true deep cleaning service in NYC that will come with real supplies. Whenever my building does work in my apartment they tear up the floor and leave excess grout. I need someone who can maybe pressure wash that out if it can't be cleaned up a regular way. read more

Cleaning is an A+ meticulous and the cleaning professionals are the best! If it wasn't for the rude and snippy responses from customer service I would have given Dirt Nerd a better rating. Anytime you ask a question about the bill or the cleaning you are treated like a petulant child rather than a customer.
